DAILY PICS. VOL. 187

Marlton, NJ

That's cute dirt!

Renton, WA

Finally a Red Breasted Nuthatch appears when I have the
camera out but it was dark and raining cats and dogs--
so a severely altered picture to at least see the bird.

Hopefully the snow storm that is happening now will be
quick and beneficial rather than dangerous and seemingly
lasting forever. Be safe and warm.

Great pics from everyone. hawks jays robin cards and redpoll.
Most times I don't have very good manners but I mean well.
goodnight.

I finaly got a closer shot of a couple yellow-headed blackbirds.

And here's a red-tailed hawk sitting on the crossbeam of a telephone pole. It was kind enough to lift it's butt so I could see its red tail feathers and not have to ask Resin what type it is. (LOL)

Last one ... here are a couple of western bluebirds (sorry the lighting wasn't better).
I love looking at the eastern bluebird pics on here; so now I can share one of our western ones. Notice that the blue on its head extends futher down the neck than on the eastern variety.

Wonderful birds. Great shots.

Pied Cormorants at the river. The colour surrounding the eyes of some of the birds was more intense than usual.

Getting hit by a snowstorm as I type, about 15" snow so far with another 4" expected. Should taper down here by 3pm.

This guy just realized spring has been 'postponed'! lol!

Great photos, everyone! Don't know if this will work or not (new computer and operating system and little knowledge). Anyway, this guy was sitting in the middle of the yard from early morning until just after 10 am. Never moved or changed position except for turning his head and the birds more or less ignored him and visited all the feeders. He watched me as I walked to within 15' of him to take the photo yet made no move to fly. I came inside and had just finished an e-mail to the local raptor rehab person to notify him of an injured bird when he lifted off and flew to the fence. After a bit he flew away. Strange behavior, at least in my experience.
I believe it to be a Cooper's Hawk.

bjf826, he was probably working on his tan is all ;-)

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

LOL, you're probably right. He'll need to look into sunblock for his legs if he stays out in the FL sun for long!

Nanny, the worst of it Is the stuff you have to ingest the day before. think of birds.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes...DH had one several years back. Now they want you to do it at 50...and I will be 53 this month.

More birds are slowly starting to use the caged feeder. A White-breasted Nuthatch

Nanny It is worth the hassle. They found a fist size tumor in me that nobody knew was there. It was removed and still benign and all is well. Don't know what would have happened if the doc hadn't insisted that I get one.

Beachwood, NJ(Zone 6b)

Snow day for me! So I took some pics in the yard. Almost a foot of snow!

I love everyone's photos, especially the Yellow-headed Blackbirds and Pied Cormorants. Great pictures of the snow-you can keep it. I'll just look and enjoy on the screen. Be safe.

We still have a few White Pelicans flying along the lake.
