WWW domain name removed?

Hutto, TX(Zone 8b)

I normally access using http:\WWW.DAVESGARDEN.COM. That seems to be broken, but I can still connect using http:\davesgarden.com (without the www hostname).

We've never used "www" in our URL, although if you search for us that way, it will point to our website.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I've been typing 'www.davesgarden.com' into the address (not search) bar many times a day for years now. It has always worked, including just now, so until I read this I never even noticed that the 'www' is actually incorrect.

At any rate, it still works for me.

Both ways are still working fine for me too. All I can think of is a temporary glitch, or else if you're actually typing in the slashes the way you show in your post \ then it won't work because the slashes need to go the other way //. But if you were doing that, then the davesgarden.com without the www wouldn't work either.

You don't have DG bookmarked? I typed it one time when I first joined, have always accessed from that bookmark ever since.

I only use bookmarks for 'unfamiliar' things, things I don't expect to use often but would like to be able to find again if needed. My bookmarks get very crowded very fast. As a result, I can type the frequently used URL's like that of DG much faster than I can access them via bookmarks. After years of typing it in, I can now speed type the DG URL blindingly fast without even thinking about it - and often do so absent mindedly at work when I'm supposed to be accessing some other site, or at least that is my story. ; )

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I also find it faster to type it in--all I really have to do is type in da or dav and then the computer auto-fills the rest for me and I hit enter, much quicker than digging through piles of bookmarks! Every once in a while when the history clears out I'll have to type in the whole address, but even that is still faster than looking for bookmarks. I only use bookmarks for sites that I want to remember but don't visit all the time and wouldn't remember their web address.

(Zone 1)

I have DG as my Home Page so it's always there when I log on to my computer, desktop and laptop, but if I'm away and forgot to take my laptop and use someone else's computer, I have always typed in www.davesgarden.com.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Easiest is an icon on your desktop - click! there's dg!

North Augusta, ON

If I have to, which is rare, I just type in Dave'sGarden...brings me right here no matter where I am.

I didn't try yesterday, but www is working today. (Actually it looks like it has an alias/cname set to redirect any requests for www back to the base domain)

I use a Firefox "bookmarks toolbar" and have all of my most favorite sites on it. Love it. Have it on IE also.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Yep, I have it on my "links" toolbar. One instant touch away. LOL
