Cmon Juney what is it!? LOL
Quiz thread
I think it is a fox sparrow.
I didn't want to answer because we live pretty close to each other(by Dave's Garden standards). I think she is only 4 counties west of me, and we have the same birds, tho' not in the same numbers!

Nope...not a Fox Sparrow! I didn't know what it was either until Resin ID for me last fall. I've only seen it that one time!
Oh, you are not even kidding!?! I've been calling them that all winter long.....:-{
Resin's bird cousin, American Pipit,
Don't feel bad Juney...I stalked the Cuckoo's all last spring based on their call...turned out I spent weeks stalking the Mourning Doves!! LOL!
Juney, maybe what you have is a Fox Sparrow.
Nope..not a Pipit either Burn!
I'll have to look carefully tomorrow.
Can you turn it's head sideways Rose so I can see the length of it's beak, please.;) Northern Waterthrush?
I think there is to much streaking in the Watertrush, so I'm switching to Ipswich Sparrow.
LOL Burn...sorry..not a Waterthrush...
You're getting closer Burn..it is a Sparrow but not an Ipswich
Savannah ? :0)
sorry...no...
russet-stripy headed bird.
Bingo...you win Mrs. Ed!!
Hmmm, scratching me head here. Will let someone else take a guess. Will try back if they don't get it.
darn Marna, you beat me to it.!!! LOL
How about Field Sparrow?
sorry...not a Field Sparrow...
Swamp sparrow in summer dress up?
sorry Burn...not a Swamp Sparrow..
Le Conte's Sparrow?
Baird's sparrow?
I know what it is...I know what it is!!! But since I got it straight from Rose I can't guess!!
la la la la la la
You bad bad girl Nanny.
Luv that would have been my next guess.
Sorry guys..still not the right Sparrow. If it is any consolation I would never have gotten it right either!
Nanny...you are a little stinker! LOL!!
Juv. white-crowned sparrow.
nope...
Lincoln's sparrow?
Drum Roll......you are correct Elphaba!! Now post one of yours!!
Congrats Elphaba!
I won't pat myself on the back b/c we were running out of sparrows! Rose, I never would have guessed it either. It doesn't really fit the pic or the description in my book. The line on the crown and above the eye are described as gray. The one from the bill and the eye-ring are supposed to be buffy and the breast streaking black. Must be a rebel.
This one should be much easier than a sparrow, but I did need Resin's help with it last summer.
Juvie. night heron?
Wow, you're good. Yes, but which one?
Black crowned night heron?
I'm way out on a limb here....
You are absolutely right and it's your turn now!
Oh NO! I don't have a camera that actually works! Since I got that one so quick, how 'bout you do another?
You guys are funny!!
