Here are the two louts on their "chair" in the basement. The last owners of the house left a hideous chair in the basement - the cats took to it immediately and we didn't have the heart to drag it to the dump. It is their all purpose sleeping spot and Chili the Ragdoll uses it as his scratching post.
Introduce yourself with a picture!
They sure don't look like the trouble they are!
Actually they look very happy...... and I love the picture of Violet - that picture made me laugh too.
My Lynxpoint looked very similar only her points were more a chocolate color and she was a very slim cat. More like you see the pictures of the Siamese cats in China. It took us a while to figure it out, but with ours we finally came to the conclusion that she did not see well. She never missed a step going up the stairs or anything, but she just never acted like the others. I miss her - she's been gone a number of years.
I love pets. I would definitely have more if I could.
I bred Siamese cats for years. I only have my final 2, a blue point and a flame point. It's true, the overly slender ones can develop bad sight, due to the shape of their faces. It was from bad breeding to develop very lean bodies. The apple headed ones (which are the normal cat shaped bodied Siamese) don't have problems.
I love my 2 bad boys, as cute as they are, they're still devils.
Aaackkkk - More youth! Nice to meet YOU 2rb.
Ugh! Looks like I'm the matriarch.
I have no experience breeding anything. I've always been in the business of snipping and stitching strays. I have had one, one only purebred. That's our current chihuahua Bentley. He was a present to myself after having lost a dear, dear chihuahua terrier rescue. Other than that the cats and dogs have been mutt and alley cat city.
Snapple - you are so funny! You aren't that much older than I am!
When I was growing up - we had Great Danes. My mother always had to have her Danes. Oddly enough if you waited long enough, they would show up in the shelters - typically when they were about 5 months old. Most people had problems with the poor things during the puppy stage. This is where my mother found most of her Danes. Then it got to a point where the Dane rescue people would call her to see if she would take another one.
MM2 - You just confirmed our suspicions - She really was a poor thing. My Linxpoint was very slender and fine boned - however, she also came from a shelter. DH had gone with my daughter and they got her for me when I was having surgery.
Kristy - you are beautiful! I love your picture.
aww, thanks guys! Nice to meet you too.
Hey snapple, girl this is piled on makeup! I can't wait to get that stuff off my face when I pile it on! lol
snapple....I think I'm the matriarch, so we'll have to rock-paper-scissors to shake off the title to the other! Let me just say it this way....I did everything possible to try and clear my schedule to go to a Daryl Hall concert this past Saturday....now while most are scratching their heads as to who he is (my all time favorite!) you and I are probably humming a few of his tunes!
Hall & Oates! Of course!! But I might have you beat a just a little. I'm a huge Neil Diamond fan. I've never thrown unmentionables on the stage but................well, you know.
Merry Mary: I met H & O in the early 1980's. My university had a big indoor stadium for hockey, basketball and concerts. Hall and Oats were one of the first concerts and I was a big fan. I was an athlete at school and had an opportunity to be backstage as if I was working security . . .
I was introduced to them briefly and saw them quite a few times backstage. They were really into taking "party-time breaks".
2racing boys-when you came up with that user name you really weren't talking about your "own" two boys were you? You're too young! You're the official beauty Queen of today!
Who's Daryl Hall? LOL
SofJ...you're fired.
lol :)
Fired!! LOL. I had no chance at claiming the highly esteemed matriarch title anyway. I'm not as young as 25, but I'm thirty-something.
Jim - he is so cute! Does he help with computer work too?
SofJ and MM - you two are funny! And I know who Hall and Oates are too!

really, who is DHall? If it was before the 80's I haven't a clue! lol :D
just kidding - I was raised by my grandma who was a huge Patsy Cline fan. I know a little bit about some of the oldie stuff.;)
mothermole - you'd pass out if you saw me this morning! lol I'm all groggy & blah from a pain pill last night from these stupid wisdom teeth.
And yes, I'm old enough to have 2 boys! They're 12 & 6.
My oldest Joey just cut off ALL his hair this weekend so I just criiiiiied over that. Oh it broke my heart! It looks good, just such a change. He was my mini Anthony Keidis. - Who wants to guess who that is? lol
Wow his hair was looooonnnnnnggggg!!!! Great that you let him choose his hair style. Some parents get so weirded out by their kids and some of the insignificant choices that they want to make. I would let mine grow theirs long too (and they tried but got tired of it getting in their way in swim team and soccer). Is that person you referenced your son to a soccer player? There is a guy with hair and coloring like your son who plays professional soccer but I don't know his name. My husband (being European) watches a lot of soccer on the weekends and I catch glimpses of players.
Violet the cat: Very cute picture-did you have to pose the cat in that position or is this a natural way for this cat to lay around?
yea, he started growing it out when he was 8. I wasn't against it, but I didn't want him dealing with issues at school and all. It never was a problem until he started middle school this year. He says that every single day someone (other boys) had something to say about it (the girls loved it) and he was just tired of it. Of course I told him that we were not going to cut it on behalf of some other kid who was probably just jealous anyway b/c their parents wouldn't let it grow out. Nevertheless, he swore "he" wanted it cut, not b/c of someone else.
We're the type of people -I tell my boys, if you have good grades & act right you can do whatever you want (within reason of course) and long hair is what he wanted to do. It suited him because he plays drums too so go figure. I still can't believe it's all gone! :(
The guy Anthony Keidis I was referring to is the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Back in school days he WAS THE MAN! lol
Here is is as KISS for halloween this year. lol
everyone looks so nice! Even the fuzzie wuzzie woo's! Glad to know were not all weirdo's! lol
Wow! Nice picture of a very good looking lady. Very nice to meet you.
MM2 - you are gorgeous! Glad you were able to find a picture. It is so nice to be able to put a face to a name.
Kristy - Love the pictures of your sons. They both look like very nice boys. I know what you mean about the haircuts. It isn't easy to raise kids, but I do miss them living with us. Both my children are grown and on their own.
Merry Mary-Wow! If this isn't the normal one I am afraid I will have to ban another even prettier picture of yourself. . . You win the prize of the day for gorgeous gardener!
We have a lot of good looking people here at Daves don't we?
Kristy: Love the Kiss Picture. My 9 year old son thinks he is way too cool, and said to write "I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day" with your son! Must be a kid's seal of approval!
My aren't y'all a distinguished looking bunch! What an awesome thread idea, though, I am most reserved about having ANY photos taken of me, ever ....... usually being on the other side of the lens.
I almost hesitate to bring it down a notch ..... but .....
OK ... here it goes ..... No laughing!!
^_^
(it's been a long cold winter, hence my hibernation)
OMG she is gorgeous!
the first pic was really scary for me though! lol lol
nice to meet everyone!
Prehistoric, at best, no?
WNYwB - Welcome handsome Dude! I am so in awe of the avian crew I don't know what to say. The pups are precious too.
prehistoric ... um yea! Like on of those horror movies I refuse to watch! lol
Naw really, she is a beauty now, that's all that matters.
We all have our horrible days. lol :D
Awe ... thanks snapple .... it's amazing what a good angle and lighting will cover up!!
I have been in a bit of a funk, and avoiding the water gardens threads, as my pond liner trapped a huge air bubble underneath it this past thaw before severe low temps, raising the liner like a bubble dome when the yard flooded with water. Effectively chilling the water with rather disastrous results. Though all the goldfish are OK, I am afraid the same cannot be said for any of the koi.
:(
It was a very sad, heart-wrenching day.
Never in a million years did I expect the liner to bubble up like that. Making the deepest pond area less than 18 inches deep with temps at night in the teens or below.
Well, I can honestly say I know what they are meaning when they say "A face only a mother (or father) could love."
WNYwB - First of all I'm so sorry about the pond problem. I've heard of liners bubbling up due to hydrostatic pressure, but not air. Hydrostatic pressure is a condition where the pond bottom is at or below the water table. The water table rises due to heavy rain or flooding and you've got a big bubble, but it's water pushing the liner up. Is there a plan to remedy this and prevent is reoccurence?
Below is a link to a pond installer's web site that gives a fix for hydrostatic pressure. I couldn't find a fix for air pressure.
http://aquaticconstruction.com/pond-faqs-materials.html#materials06
(The guy kinda looks like a used car salesman in a cheesy commercial but from what I've read I think the imformation is solid.)
Maybe it was water!! .... Thank You for that answer.
The plan is to more slope the sides, and to place flat flag stones along the center bottom length. The pond bottom is wide and flat, which I think was most of the trouble. I will also look into the release valve, looks like a simple, excellent precaution .... that is an excellent link direct. Thanks! (FYI where I am living was wetlands before development .... mostly swampy)
The part I most regret is that I originally planned on moving them inside for this winter, as the liner this past year was the "trial run" to see if I liked the shape, etc. and to find any flaws before I make the big, permanent liner plunge.
See what I mean below ... swamp!
aww, now I feel bad about saying that about your bird.
I really didn't mean it.
Sorry bout your pond. I'm clueless when it comes to these things!
Good luck!
Don't fret ONE bit!
I have had people literally scream at the sight of her when I would show her off and take her to work, just after she was born. Funny stuff!! You'd have thought they'd seen a mouse!
I tend to find beauty in the grotesque. I have been told even the grotesque can be sublime. I believe it.
Thanks for the sympathy, too. I should have known better, I guess, and brought them in for the winter.
MM1...what I mean by "normal" picture is the ponytail shot with the running shorts over the bathing suit...and fish poop or dirt up to my elbows!
wnywb...what a cute little naked guy (no you goober, I meant the bird!) I guess it gives creedence to the Ugly Duckling story! I'm so sorry to hear about your pond, I've never heard of such a thing! Here in central Florida, we only have sand, no dirt or soil, so water never sits anywhere!
