no down playing taken. Just like hurricanes or earthquakes each has their disasters. I can run from a nader tho, or try to hide in that hiddey hole.

I think we have more than our fair share of disasters. Hurricanes, sinkholes, Tornadoes, Lightning
and BUGS
They are really dangerous here many have lost their lives to these.
I saw a house completely gone nothing left and it was a 2 story old home and nothing was left but the ground floor.
They had a pasture full of cows and it sucked them all up and threw them miles down the road the people weren't at home so no lives lost but their home and cows and everything was gone
tornado's are weird, can take out one building and NO damage what so ever to a building just right next to it. I have lived in tornado alley most all my life, it is just part of life here. I live 1/4 mile from a lake, some say its a wives tale others say it for fact, a tornado wont come close to water, well all I can say and yes I am knocking on wood here, non has hit here for as long as we have been here ( I grew up here as a teenager) I can see it now I say that and we get a gooder this year. Will wait and see what March 1st brings us. Even tho out tornado season isnt really up there in standing till late april or early may.
It all depends on wind patterns. Really complicated though. The movie twister had tornados on water...water spouts. scary really. My sister has lived in New Mexico,Kanssas, Mississippi, Alabama, now moving to OK. She has seen many disasters. She misses it here!! Yes, Florida has high Lime stone deposits that collapse (sink holes) Boy is there a safe place???

Some snow (although my parents generally have less snow than here in Iowa, and on the west coast, they rarely get snow at all in some parts - more like Seattle weather). They've had 1 hurricane in about 10 years, and tornadoes only ever in the most southern parts of Ontario. I don't know about any sinkholes. OH, and a lot less gun crime. So for Sewincircle's question about where was safe, I was just sayin....

Yaaaaa, I didnt think you were being biased. honestly I thought it was just a random thought or something...hehehe But other than snow it is a lot like NY with out gun crime. :D (Upstate NY that is)
No snow i like it when we have it maybe once every 2 years for a couple days but i like my nice warm days and cold nights we have.
Just not a cold weather person i like the outdoors to much to be snowed in LOL
I had yesterday off and it was killing me to sit inside. I donned a rain coat and puttered in the rain. Blasted rain is still coming down. Argh. The horses are going stir crazy in the barn and my pasture has so much standing water it looks like a lake. Debris has accumulated on the fence line and is holding the water in..... First time I've noticed it. And my neighbor wonders why his pond hasn't filled back up. I bet that's it!
gah!! oops!! Wonder what he'll do if you open that up and let his pond fill. All at once...
Been out this morning water up over my ankles at my pens took me an hour to unclog my drainage ditch and sort of get the water down. My ground pen was 2 inches of water I shoveled and raked until i was tired PHEW!! Got back to the house socked slap to my undies and more rain due tonight.
