I love the newest chapter/photos, MargaretK.
Raising Aussie Osprey #9
It looks like the family is blending together nicely.
thanks for the update and pictures of new family.
Elaine
I've seen two Osprey flying high above the area and others have seen three. The last time I saw them was five days ago and one was carrying a large stick. I go to the area every couple of days on the off chance I'll see something, but things have really quietened down, so I've decided to grow my own.
That's wonderful Margaret, you have an interesting new variety there!
Wonderful thread and some beautiful pics. Thanks for sharing.
I'm curious where the nest was positioned and how you were able to get such good visibility. I'm watching a Red-tailed Hawk's nest I can see from my house. But it is high in a tree and a poor angle to get any photos combined with the fact that the birds are extremely wary have made photos difficult. As the trees leave out the nest will be hidden. I've started a thread and will try to keep updated, but it will not rival the quality of this one.
Thanks again. ...RDR
Thanks Knip. It'll be interesting to see how it grows. I wonder if I should use fish emulsion to stimulate growth.
Thanks RDR. The nest tree is on a steep embankment above the Swan River, with houses on the top of the embankment. I have been fortunate enough to have been given access to areas high on the embankment and it's from these vantage points that I've been able to look down onto the nest. The nest has been there for at least a couple of decades so the birds are used to a human presence. They are also completely nonchalant about the boisterous activities on the river below them.
Do let us know if you get sprouts...LOL!!!
HaHaHaHaHaHa Marg, you are too funny!!! I cannot wait to see it in full bloom ;o))
Kim
:-) Yes definitely use fish emulsion!
Hope you get off shoots as well, so you can share, fish emulsion is a very good idea. :))
Very funny, Margaret. I just found myself thinking about Mom Osprey after watching the Eaglets for a minute. She may be gone but certainly not forgotten.
fish emulsion
There's definitely a plaice for that!
;-)
Oh Pell, you crack me up. A very good come back!
Kim
hmmm,, if fish emulsion makes that feather grow, you really need to keep a another diary... lol.
Elaine

MargaretK~I love the Osprey kit~maybe you could market it:))
GP, you're so right about Mum Osprey. She holds a special piece of my heart.
I'll let you know when it sprouts.
Good thinking, Kiska.
Resin, I've been trying to think of some smart response, but I'm floundering.
Elaine, I've been on leave for almost six months and my photos are only slightly more organized than they were at the start of it.

C'mon, don't be koi.
Margaret, if you are having problem with your herring, you could see a doctor. I have a name of a good sturgeon.
I'd better do that before I drop off the perch.
