This is to the site admins:
I recently obtained the identification of a plant (Crassula rubricaulis). I've had that plant for a while but had no ID. I had posted a question on the ID forum but to no avail. Recently I saw identical plants at the SD Cactus & Succulent Society's sale events, sold by "Daniel's Specialty Nursery" and I presume the naming was correct enough for the SDCSS to allow it on their event. See a bit more at my reply to my own post here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/948320/
My question is: if the species name is valid then would DG open a "file" for this plant?
Thanks
What about plants that DG does not have in its Plants Files?
Members add the files so you can add that one. You can see under my info that I've added over 750 so far. The best way to do it is find another PF in the same genus so you can see how it's filled out, open a second window and click on 'Add New Plant' and if you have enough of your plant's info, fill out all the appropriate sections. Admin can also help if you get stuck or have questions on how to fill it out.
Hi nomosno,
If you are sure of the identity, and that the taxonomy is current, you can enter the plant in PlantFiles yourself. First, please use this search page to verify that it's not already in PlantFiles. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?Search=Click+here+to+search+for+plants
Once you've determined that you know the identification, the correct taxonomy, and that the plant is not already in PlantFiles you can proceed with adding it.
To do that, go to any PlantFile page, and underneath the tabs along the top, there will be a link that says 'Add A Plant' That link will take you to this page: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/add.php
There you fill in all the necessary information and click on submit. Remember that common name, family, genus and cultivar all have the first letter in capital. Species is never capitalized.
Once your entry is created, you can go back in and fill in the details by clicking on the 'Unknown, tell us' link for each category.
Then you can upload a photo, submit a zipcode report, or write a comment by choosing any of those options at the bottom of the page.
If you get an error message, make a mistake, or need assistance, please feel free to use the red 'Report an Error' button in the top right hand corner of the PlantFile page and we will be happy to assist.
Joan
Thank you guys!
