10 for 15 and i stopped - missed a couple that i should not have and guessed on a couple correctly
What are your non-gardening hobbies? - Part 2
I rate a novice - 56 w wrong and 50 right. Most if the ones I got right was just good test-taking strategy, not knowledge! Wish I had used Jen's strategy - I wouldn't feel so dumb right now.
Agree, incredibly lovely, Weeze. How much do you charge for those?
I quit after 16 questions. I was batting 500 up to that point. I'm in Jen's league. I just want to turn it on and have it work.
I haven't worked out pricing yet Carrie. It was just a stab at a winter hobby. However, I like making them, so I might think about a little cottage industry on the side. Posssibly defray some of the cost of plants :)
got to add up how many hours it took you... then what you want to be paid per hour
:)
That never works!
I used to crochet full size bedspreads...took me days and days. When it came time to sell them I could barely get the cost of the yarn back. Some people had the nerve to offer me $10!!
sometimes that happens - they are very nice stepping stones - i've seen articles on making them and never took the time - you can also make birdbaths that way as well - maybe something for next year venu?

Might a dahlia with a sleeping bumbler be a rather prettiful stepping stone venu209 ? ^_^ Wow it looks like it takes years to get all those teensyweensy stones stuck together.
We just got them. They are the retail arm of a book donation group. Your charitable group or ordinary individuals donate the books, the charitable org gets a donation and then they sell the books at the store. They took all the leftover danielle Steels from our Library book sale last year among other things. We took in a ton of donated books, we sold a ton of donated books and then we had them come and haul away the rest and got some sort of remuneration, I think. We had a zillion hardbound danielle steels.
Martha
That's great, Martha.
I luv bookstores like that. I am a bookstore groupie and I frequent the ones that have the add-on of being involved with charitable organizations. Well done!
Great hummingbird stone too, Weeze. How long did you take to do them? Did you place the tiles directly into the wet cement, or glue them on the dry cement, then grout? I'm definitely doing this!!
Me too, if I can figure out how! (That website wasn't small enough steps for a baby like me . . .)
Yes, what did you start with? A pre-made stone?
I thought there was going to be 30 questions. I gave up when I realized there were more. I was under 50%
Didn't start the test--know I'm not a techie. Those stones surely would sell at a garden outlet.
The first stone I made I applied the tiles to the wet cement. That didn't work too well and I refer to it as the burp stone. It would probably be fine for an abstract piece but for more intricate stuff it's a no go. The bird, butterfly and cat I drew the design, then put clear contact paper over the design and applied the tiles to the contact paper. Then you plop the design into the mold and pour the concrete on top.Wait a day or two and release from mold and peel paper off.
The one I am working on now is glue and grout. My first attempt. I hope it comes out okay!
glue and grout was what i had read about - although pouring the cement with the design in the mold sounds like it would work better
Very very clever - all the artistry and none of the whoops! Brava!
I'll let you know wha. The cement part is the part I do not like to do.
Hey, that's a great idea with the contact paper. I think I'm gonna try that first. I'm looking forward to hearing how the grouting goes!
clever... very clever
Fiendishly clever!
I'd love to take credit for the cleverness, but it was recommended on one of the mosaic sites. ^_^
Cool!!! Beautiful, Weeze.
OMG.... that's great!!!!
feel so honored
BEA-UT-I-FUL!!!!!! Indeed!
very nice
Hooray for all of us! Thanks your hard work.
You did a NE Forum one! Wow, that was fast. It's beautiful!!!! You're on a roll! What's next?
I have an outdoor table that had a glass top until one of the dogs crashed into it. That was why I bought the mosaic stuff in the first place. Sooooo maybe I'll make a mosaic for the topless table. It's only been two years since it broke! What's that word?? procrastinate?!
I have some topless candidates.
I knew you'd jump on that one Victor ^_^
Nice work Louise!! That was fast, so how many can you do in a week?
Leave it to Victor....speaking of topless Victor, that place has been packed since it opened. It seems the older woman there is "PERKY".
I think you better explain that, Celeste. Might leave people wondering!
OK, i'll try to explain tackfully. hee hee he
So I live out in the country.....15 -17 miles to the nearest city. On the major route out here is a hotel with a dinner/bar area. It has never stayed open for very long even though some of the owners have really tried. This past summer someone from out of state bought it and thought they would try something different.
A Topless Coffee House with male and female wait persons. I have a 21 son in the house, his friends talk loud. It seems the older women who works there seems to be a hit as a "PERKY" waitress!! I almost bust a gut laughing when I heard this.. coming from an 18 - 20 year old , they've seen so many they can judge?? lol

Sherrie, I don't think so but you may have revealed one of his dreams. lol
