Another angle shot of the 'Common Loon'.
'On The Waterfront"
I especially like the first photo of the Horned Grebe, the water is so pretty with the grebe. All are neat photos. I do get to see Common Loons occassionally at a higher lake.

Great shots Linth...they are so sharp and clear it looks like you were in the water taking them!
Linth, these photos are just wonderful. I bet you were in the water taking them! I like the fox ones the best. I'm going to be looking behind my shoulder now when I'm out in the woods! I'm also jealous that seeing eagles is such a common experience for you. I love the picture of the pair on in the tree.
So many nice ones! Great job Linth!
Thanks, again ....
Donna, the loons are such a striking bird combined with their call. I don't get to see a lot of them around here.
Rose, I get as close to the water as I can without putting my camera equipment in jeopardy.
Elphaba, you should always be looking behind you, especially in the city !!! My wife and I still laugh at the fox photo. And, I am indeed fortunate to live in close proximity to the Bald Eagles.
Another 'Great Blue Heron' photo from last weekend ..........
Beautiful Linth! I've been hearing about them in NJ but so far my sister has not seen them at the 2 nesting sites she passes on her way to work.
Those shots are amazing! That's about the best Great Blue Heron shot that I've ever seen. It's better than the one in my bird book.
Wonderful Linth!! The loon is one of my most coveted life birds!! Someday I hope to snag and hear one!
Elphaba, thanks. Great Blue Herons make an excellent subject to photograph. They're big and slow-moving and you generally can get pretty close to them.
Thanks, pelle. Your Osprey should be arriving soon. I had heard that they are a little late this year. Yesterday, I missed a lot of flight shots because I couldn't find them in the lens, at 700mm. Here is another photo taken last week. I only live about 1/2 hour from the site but I don't visit it more than once a week.
Very nice! I enjoy watching them.
I think this thread is getting a little long so I probably won't post anymore photos on it. Hope you enjoyed them. I have a few shorebirds to be identified so I'll eventually put them on the Bird Identification thread, for your help.
Here is a 'Mute Swan' on her nest. It seems like the population is being kept well under control because I don't see too many of them this year. And, I seriously doubt that any cygnets from this nest will survive because the adjacent pond is loaded with Snapping Turtles.
I've really enjoyed this thread and hope you get out to the waterfront to take more pics soon.
Yes wonderful pics Linth!
Linth, the quality of your shots and the variety of birds has made this a really wonderful thread. Thank you.
I don't see a new start to this thread. And I don't know how to do that.
Linth, great photo of the Great Blue from Mar. 30. I was on a tour yesterday and day before, mostly in snow, We (the bus) had to stop nearStevens Pass and put on chains, 50 passengers, sat on bus for 3 hours , and then drove 12 mile and stopped to take off the chains. (An Adventure). Anyway didn't see many birds and no Osprey. There are several nest platforms near here where I live but no Osprey have arrived.
