DAILY PICS VOL. 180

PERTH, Australia

Oh Rose, the image of the female Bluebird speaks volumes. Gorgeous.

Burn, I love the shot of the Mourning Doves in the snow.

GP, you still hogging those Painted Buntings? I check every day for my delivery. Alas.....

Roy, they are really fabulous shots. I enjoyed every one. Just wait until Duckmother sees the shots of the Wood Ducks!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I was debating on which sparrow I had here...another shot of it. I though it a bit early for the Chipping Sparrow too..but guess not! I even thought it might be a Field Sparrow at first.

Thanks Margaret and One!

Yes Mrs. Ed...I did notice the similarities!

News Flash...just back from walking the dogs and saw a Horned Lark! It was on the ground in front of me and didn't notice it until it flew off and landed about 20 feet away on the ground. I got a good look so no doubt about the ID...if the weather cooperates I will stake out that area today and hopefully get some pics!! Yippee!!!

Nanny...I wondered about that Sparrow also!

2vernes, I don't even know which one of your pics I like the best. Just amazing! I will pick one out for a special tribute -- "Fly robin, fly. Up, up to the sky!" (Silver Convention)

GP, I love your bunting pics as always, but I must comment on your White-Winged Dove. In the immortal words of Stevie Nicks, "Just like the White-winged Dove sings a song sounds like she's sing, 'whoo, whoo, whoo.'" I just did a White-winged dove count for the backyard bird count -- 33 at my feeder!

Oh, one more, just because I can't resist. This is from yesterday. Today is cloudy and yucky, so you will be spared my song psychosis. "Black bird singing in the dead of night..." -- Ya, OK, it's not the dead of night and Red-winged blackbirds don't sing!

Yay on the Horned Lark.I'm going to look for some of those on Sunday. Oooh, and you can COUNT it too!

I read on the IL bird net that they were going to look for Horned Larks, Lapland Longspurs and Snow Buntings, as if they were hanging out together.

Great pics Rose! I love the Titmouse and Meadowlark! The Blues are always gorgeous!

Cute sparrow nanny!

Elphaba, Nice Blackbird!

Yes, Elphaba, I was hearing those words to Stevie Nicks' song as I was posting the White-Winged Dove pic. Welcome Roy...and what a collection of terrific bird pics you have!

Too much of a black line through the eye for Field Sparrow. Otherwise possibly immature White-crowned Sparrow, but it doesn't look to have the bulk of that species. I still think Chipping is the best fit, though agree I can't be 100% certain on it.
