one of my weaknesses.....chocolate covered peanuts.
Any special Valentine plans?
Cool candies, Celeste! One of my hobbies is eating chocolate. Lucky kids.
Eating chocolate Victor? How do you think I got into making candies? lol
This is really a cake I made for a friends B-Day. She was feeling very blue and flowers cheer her up.....I combined the 2 and set it on the table. She thought it was just a center piece, should of seen the look on her face when i stuck my finger and and pulled out frosting.
Nope, these aren't edible but you can you edible ones if you want to.
Gorgeous!
mmmmmm Pixie chocolates mmmmmmmmm We're aren't doing anything special. We do special things on whims and rarely ever do anything when we're supposed to. We are might be radical non-conformists but probably it's because we're confused.
Sent valentines to the grandchildren. Skipped DDs this yr. You haven't lived until you try to find valentines for sons in law/ DH & Valentines????? grump!
Very pretty, Celeste.
Love your homemade chocolates, Celeste! The next batches sound yummy too. Lucky GKs!!!
I just don't know how you do all that you do, and so well!!
For Valentine's Day we usually go on an adventure of some sort and pick out a "couple" present we want from the day. This year we went to the Art Fest and decided to give "us" one of the framed, signed posters from the Art Fest. It is very pretty...."Blue Heron Sunset"....lots of blues and oranges. We will give each other a card and do something unfancy for dinner with our friends (former next door neighbors in Conn.) who will arrive on Saturday for the next 6 weeks.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
Louise
Donniebrook, nice to pick out art together.
I finished making the chocolate truffles by covering some with chopped Spanish almonds and some with candied chopped walnuts and another bunch with some chopped heath bars. I ended up with 50 truffles and DH made a batch of french caramels with sea salt, so we will be sharing some sweets with friends or I will be a blimp. Patti
yum
Yes - yummy!
Yes please!! I have my glass of milk ready!
You guys are too much with your beautifully crafted candies and cookies. I'd eat every one and look blank when it came time to hand 'em over. Deb- your cookies look scrumptuous and Patti - those truffles sound wonderful. WAY too much up my alley for me to keep reading. LOL Now I have to go to bed so I'll leave the Girl Scout cookies in my freezer alone.
OMG it's a Marthathon. You guys are gooooooood.
debilu, Cookies, yum. I didn't get my Thin mints this year. Dang! You are lucky Donniebrook. Enjoy them. I dare not go near the kitchen again today! Had a truffle for breakfast. Me Bad. I also want some red hots, just because of the fond memories of my Dad loving them so much. Patti
I got roses yest. from DH (2nd time in 35 yrs!), I am making fresh blueberry muffins for breakfast, & we are going to a small family run rest. here in town--The Goose & The Gander---it's our usual Fri. night date, but we're going tonight instead. Those cookies & candies looked much too good!
DH just left for PA. We went out to dinner last night, not to one of our usual places. Very good, I had filet mignon and DH had a lobster, shrimp, scallop, and clam combo. I don't usually get roses either, just occasionally. I think DH felt bad for going out of town, so had a dozen roses on the table when I got home from work.
Very nice, ladies. I'm not a fan of roses. Just don't last very long and they're so expensive.
In Feb of1977 when I was having an "off" time from my then BF, he sent me a Valentine arrangement. We hadn't spoken for months. I thought I should at least acknowledge his gift, so I stopped in at the local watering hole where I knew he would be after work. I told him he was so sweet to send me a big bowl of pink and red carnations with the little red plastic hearts poking out of from the middle. He looked horrified, as he had ordered and paid for long stem red roses. But he was more concerned about the flu I had and insisted that he take me "home" and make me chicken soup. We have been together ever since. So the way to my heart was the though the thought of red roses and a spoonful of homemade soup. He is a DH, for sure. Have a sweet day all. Patti
Aw Patti!
I got a live rose plant delivered to my office yesterday. DH is learning after 16 years!! I love cut flowers, but would much rather something that won't die! I confess I've done nothing for him - he's impossible to buy for. So he'll have to settle for "quality time" :o) We'll probably go out for a late lunch - don't want to compete with the dinner crowd.
Happy Valentine's day to everyone. : )
Does everyone know there is an Orchid show today in Nashua, NH? I was thinking about going. It's at the Radisson, if anyone is interested in checking it out.
awwww Patti that is sooo sweet!
Neat story, Patti! So nice to hear so many of you are having a nice Valentine's Day/weekend! Our close friends just arrived from Canandaigua, so we'll go out for an early dinner together somewhere before the crowds descend.....nothing fancy, just someplace they've been missing since they were here a year ago. We have our traditional spots that we 4 frequent when they come down. They are staying in a beautiful pool house around the corner from us. I got chocolates and a lovely card from DH, even though we decided to give each other a couple gift instead this year. He's a keeper!!
When I got home from work last night DH gave me a huge bouquet of canterbury bells. This morning I got coffee in bed with my new Kelm's Song Sparrow catalog. This afternoon after I finish my yoga, I have a hot bath with bubbles, book, and Beck's Light planned. And tonight DH is grilling walleye for a treat.
Very nice, duck! Great story, Patti.
OK 9:37 here and so far have not received diddley squat.
Randy and I shared a caramel apple I picked up at the flower show... good enough for me
ate chocolate with my nephews... got 2 cards from my nephew Victor... he is soooo cute!!!!
aaawww that's nice... 2 cards you must have been extra specialer this year
I got cheesecake and a really big card that sings....
:)
Donniebrook, I scored big time. DH came home from town yesterday with 4 boxes of Thin Mints. To heck with the lovingly my homemade candies. Patti
DH believes Valentine's Day is just for women, but at least he didn't waste the $ on roses this year! he always gives me a funny Hallmark card and a goopy Hallmark card and See's bridge mix.
Allison, the live rose plant is the way to go for sure! Lucky girl! Sounds like most of us had a good one.
Anyone else have COMCAST? Whaddya think?
Carrie, We use Comcast. I don't deal with anything that comes with wires. DH's department. I have no patience with electronics or the people who fix them. I don't speak that language. Even when they speak English.
But DH loves the challenge. . We had so much trouble with our Comcast service in the beginning that he was able to get the home cell # for the manager of the local Comcast service. He would come by to check on us and have coffee. They had a bad patch that we and others were on that they just couldn't seem to find or fix, but they kept at it and it finally seems fixed. Knock wood. Plus we bought it when they had a "deal" then the price changed and it was more than double. He did battle about that and won.
This morning he gleefully showed me a Blue Cross bill that he was fighting about and had a email in hand showing that he had just won that one too. Over 400.00 bucks. He should go into the dispute business. He wins because he never screams, unlike me, plus he just keeps at it until he wins. Then he writes a note saying how helpful the person was to their superior. But having the time to do all this is one of the luxuries of being semi retired. So Carrie, I will check with him tonight when he gets back on Island about Comcast. What are your choices? Patti
