None here. Will stay home. Hopefully have a nice dinner (although with the kids!).
Anything nice planned?
Any special Valentine plans?
Getting the taxes done and then relaxing (hopefully) over a nice dinner. I'm not entirely sure this will happen because child #2 has a boyfriend and wants to hang out with him and child #1 probably will want to mess up child #2's plans....neither one can drive - my other name is "Taxi"!
ah, romance!
These are quite popular with the teenage crowd.....

Oh no! The teenage years, Deb! I don't want to think about it. I have not started my taxes yet. Just got TurboTax today.
I know, taxes are so romantic, right? at least they'll be out of the way, and hopefully I'll get a good return since my business is down this year. As for the brats....I suppose I could lock them in their rooms and do the candlelight dinner thing.,... or even better, lock my Hub and I in the bedroom with candles and let the animals forage...
:)
What's Valentines day??
I am going to the edison flower show with Randy's mom... LOL
I'm trying to get DH to go to out of town for the weekend, but he says we have to go out to dinner for Valentine's Day. I say we don't have to, and he can go for the weekend - to PA to see his dad and pick up some model trains. I'm going for sister day next weekend, and this way we can share dog duty without either of us having to take the dog with us or use a kennel.
we'll go to dinner on friday to miss the price gouging on Saturday. was told not to buy flowers - exchange cards.
this is the end of the busy season for me x-mass, b-day, and v-day - a few months off till anniversary and 6 months off!
Hee hee. I agree about not going out on Valentines Day. Only made that mistake once.
If DH goes away, this will be the first year in many for us not to go out to dinner on VD. We usually go to one of 2 restaurants with Valentine/for 2 specials and not overly priced.
That's nice. Around here, they're overpriced.
And way too crowded. DH and I are going to his sister's place in Ocean City NJ for Sun. night into Monday, since he has no school on Monday. I am sooo excited. My brother and my niece are coming to stay with mom. We went out to dinner last Sat. for dinner.
I tell him no flowers and no cards. That way we can spend it on plants or wood. :)
got a break here - she wants dinner at a Mexican restaurant - can you spell chimichanga
We are heading to Vt to teach a dear friends 9 year old daughter to ski. She lives in Brooklyn. Her dad will be coming too, but sadly her mom has to work. I will be doing the cheering, while DH will be instructing and I imagine her dad will be watching and hoping she doesn't love it too much. It has gotten so expensive. I plan on cooking a simple dinner of pasta and a salad with something chocolate for desert. No cut flowers as we have a house full of blooming plants at the moment. I hope everyone has a sweet one. Patti
NO CHOCOLATE here I'm dieting. Three weeks and no progress. I'm still hangin in there.
I'll send e-cards to friends.
Heading to Southern Maine to see youngest DD and Fiance's new place. We are taking them out to eat at Bugaboo Creek, you know the talking Moose place? lol Tarsha has always loved it there and thats where she wants to go soo......

Then we will go up to his place of work ( Andover College) and utilize the track for a nice after dinner walk. We will then head home and watch a DVD, while eating home made hot fudge sundaes....be all done and in bed by 10pm!
Looks like fun! Yummy steak.
Hot fudge sundaes sound good!
We have Bugaboo here, actually very good food.
That sounds like it should be on the 'What food do you want to try' thread, Deb!
I'm going to a surprise 50th birthday party for my sister in Rhode Island. She thinks her husband is taking her out for a Valentine's dinner. It's a perfect cover.
Great alibi. Have fun! Happy birthday to sis.
Oh, great fun! My one niece that was going to come down to stay with my mom still thinks she is coming here, but her hubby is going to surprise her with a trip to FL. His brother has a place there, so he got cheap plane tickets, so off they will go. He called me when he found out she was planning on coming down here. He has his folks baby-sitting their 4 kids.
Thanks, Victor. Jan, that sounds like a wonderful trip for your niece, especially when you have 4 kids!
And #5 is on the way and they homeschool. They do a lot with a homeschool group. Last fall they went to the Museum near Liberty Park and learned about CSI. Last week they were at Ellis Island learning about immigration and doing their family trees. Pretty cool stuff. The kids do gymnastics and soccer, so are busy.
I LOVE Bugaboo, their steaks are amazing!!!!
We usually do nothing hubby doesn't believe in V-day. I'm trying to talk him into taking me to the flower show but may end up going with my mil if she doesn't have plans.
I got some little things for the kids. I have to make cookies for my son's class party and they still hand out those little valentines.
Which Flower Show, Jen? Philly? (she says wistfully)
Pixie, you have shamed me to maybe make some candy. Those are lovely. Bet they taste great too. Patti
Same one Allison is going to in Edison.

ooooo yummy, Celeste.....what's inside?
I will be making hubby some chocolate covered pretzels.
Thanks Patti & Jen, those are solid chocolate. DGD says..."Make some fancy ones Please" so i really need to get moving . Those won't qualify for 'fancy'. lol
I've made a butter creme filling and a maple creme for the next 2 batches.
oooooo yum.... again!!!!!!
I am doing choc truffles with grand mariner coated with pistachio or something (almonds?). I have everything weighted out and ready to go except the coating. Should be easy. Thanks for the push and the extra 5 lbs. Patti
I've made chocolate covered potato chips before.
Sounds great Pattii....except those 5 extra lbs.
Mixture is made. Yes, I licked the spoon! I will roll them and then coat them in a couple of hours with some nuts.
debilu I could have dipped some potato chips into the chocolate goo. I'll bet with the crunch and salt it would have been good. My mom did pretzels for us for Christmas. I liked the white choc ones best. I have some homemade caramels that I could put in the middle of my truffles for variety. Patti
Yep, salty, crunchy chocolate!
