weegy,
Really great photos, especially that last one! I like it almost as well as the one Dad sent me last year. We didn't get rainbows yet, but I'll be looking for them.
I hope you find that pot of gold too!

Still looking, if I find it, I will share!
Thanks SW.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Only if you can get the Leprachaun to let you have the pot of gold. LOL!
Really good photos, rainbows are so hard to catch!

Here's a sundog I saw a couple of weeks ago.

That's gorgeous sunny!
I'll stomp on that little leprechaun! LOL

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

You stomp away, weegy. ROTFLOL ^_^
Gorgeous sundog, sunnyG, last time I saw one, I didn't have my camera with me! Rats! Yours is prettier any way! ^_^
Weegy, clouds were moving fast and heading your way. Keep safe if you have to go out this afternoon!

Nice photos, both of you!!! No rainbows here today---just RAIN, but since I need to weed it's great for the soil!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I haven't seen a rainbow in ages. Thanks weegy for that beautiful site. :-)

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

SW, I stayed in all day and yes, those clouds are above us. Are you rested up now?
Thanks ima and SoCal, I'm glad you enjoyed them.
Enjoy the rain everyone, grrrrrrr!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Nope, I'm not rested. I'll rest when I'm dead. I am more relaxed though! ^_^
Thanks for asking, your rainbows, and sunny's sun dog really cheered me up!
So why are you growling weegy? We need the rain, and you got the rainbow. What did the Leprechaun get away with the gold? LOL!
Stay dry and warm!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I'm just growling to be growling! I prefer sunshine over rain and I know we need it. It's my selfishness shining through, isn't it? And yes, that little guy got the gold, always!
Glad you're more relaxed though.

San Francisco Bay Ar, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks everyone! Weegy, keep looking for that Leprechaun...he's still hiding around there somewhere waiting for the next rainbow, right? ;-).

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

I definitely know what a rainbow is and have seen many. But what's a sun dog? Never even heard of that before this. Thanks for the education.

weegy,
I was showing off your rainbow photos to my DH, when he pointed out that in the last photo you posted there was a double rainbow. Gasp! How did I miss that?
Lovely!
More later.

Where have I been? Never heard of a sundog! It's beautiful!!! Great pictures. I always feel like seeing those IS the pot of gold.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I saw that too SW. I am really happy with how they turned out. I normally take blurry, unfocused pictures, especially the important ones!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Not this time!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Thanks kaper, think I'll frame these!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

You really should, weegy they came out beautiful! I'm very happy for you and proud of you!
Factoid: When seen from above (like from an airplane) Rainbows are circular in shape.
It's okay KC, Sun dogs are hard to find, and that one is spectacular!
A lot of people don't know about earth shine either, which is the reflected glow from the sun shining on Earth, and being reflected back to show the dark part of the moon. Best seen when Moon is new, waxing or waning on a clear night.

I have seen the green flash, though!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I don't believe that...LOL! We've never seen the flash...I think it's a myth......

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Nope, it's not a myth---I've seen it in person when we were stationed on Grand Turk island in the Caribbean. But in 15 months, we only saw it about three times, so it's not a common occurrence.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm green with envy. I look for the green flash every sunset when we are at the beach too!
Oh well. I saw it snowing at O'side once, when I was a kid. That's pretty rare too! ^_^
I believe in the green flash! I'm a great fan of Tinkerbell too! LOL!

if you believe, clap your hands, children......

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Clap, CLap, CLAp, CLAP!
Don't make me explain why it happens, I prefer to believe it is magic!
LOL!

It's real, alright and I can tell you my jaw dropped when I saw one - and I wasn't alone.

Someday I hope that I'll get to see it too! ^_^

I googled it for you, this should explain it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dog
A beautiful and somewhat rare phenomena in my part of the world!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

We just had an extremely heavy downpour here about an hour ago, it got louder and louder and I soon realized it was hailing, pea size and an extreme heavy downpour like I have never seen!

Looks like snow, it's not!
