Dave, I'm an idiot...please help

Brownville, NY(Zone 4a)

I read your instructions for posting a photo...but what units of measurement are 640 x 480 in? Pixels? I have something scanned in on Adobe Photoshop and when it comes to image size, there's tons of info to fill out, in all sorts of units. Can you help me please? I've looked for posts addressing this, but haven't found one.

yes, that is a pixel measurement.

Brownville, NY(Zone 4a)

so what should the other measurements be? just any ol' thing, or something close to the size it displays on the screen?

you shouldn't have to pick inches or anything. Just pixels. And sometimes it won't be exactly 640x480, that might squash your picture one way or the other. I used PS a long time ago, is there something else it's making you choose?

OK, I've got it sized, but when I try to preview the whole thing (post and pic), it tells me my pic isn't JPG - which I assume is same as the JPEG format.

ps stores in tif format

it is. I don't think that's the default format, you have to choose. Pick save as instead of save and then choose JPEG.

tiG, tried it...no dice. Has anyone posted photos out of Adobe Photoshop?

can you send me the picture, and I'll send it back to you in jpg.

Hey, notice how everyone flocks to respond to a post with "idiot" in the title? hee hee

I have been clickin' on JPEG....I don't know why it's being such a pain...I've got a techie here looking into it (I'm at work)...thanks for the help so far...

It's saved as a JPEG...I emailed it to my sister to test it, she says it came in OK.

So what am I doing wrong? geesh...

Bucky, there is one more requirement that hasn't been mentioned.

The filename must end in ".jpg". Only those three letters, following a period, but be used at the end of the filename.

You may be using something else, like ".jpeg". The DG site won't accept images unless they end in ".jpg".

There is no real difference, except the standard has always been to call them a ".jpg" file.

In recent years, however, certain applications have been created that will let you choose between ".jpg" OR ".jpeg".

Being an old-timer (in technology years), I just haven't brought my own application into the new millenium. It's my fault... I really should update it, but it's going to take a lot of hours of work to update the whole site to allow other filename extentions (endings).

One day..
