Did something change in "View Posts"?

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

I don't remember this happening previously, and maybe I missed an announcement or something, (but I did look through a lot of these pages), anyway...

When I go to "View Posts You Have Made" in the "My Info" area, I get a LOT of pages, but some have only one or two threads listed. It seems like it used to be a whole lot more listed per page...when did this change, and why? Anyone know?

Shari

Shari, you're looking only at your own "view posts you have made", yes?

If so, within that area, you can limit it to a particular forum, or show all forums. (That limit can be helpful if you're searching for a specific post, and you remember which forum you were in when you made it.)

I think there is something very wrong with the way the "view posts you have made" feature is working. I never used it (or realized it existed) before reading Shari's post, so I don't know how it behaved before or how it is supposed to behave.

- When I click on this option (for myself), I'm seeing behavior similar to what Shari indicates. I'm seeing mostly 1 and occasionally 2 entries per page which does seem odd. I do find that if I page forward long enough I am able to find a page with 4 entries.

- When I choose "Show all Forums" when using this feature (on myself) the 1st page has a single entry which indicates that my last post was in "Wildlife" "Heidi Chronicles: Masked Invasion" on Jan 31, 2009 at 2:20AM whereas in reality my last post to that thread was on Jan 30, 2009 at 9:20 PM. Perhaps that difference may be explained by a time zone difference between what is being displayed in the actual Forum vs what is displayed by this tool.

- I made numerous posts to the "Heidi Chronicles: Masked Invasion" thread in Wildlife on each day between Jan 27, 2009 when I created it and Jan 30, 2009 when I made my last post. All of these dates are referenced per my time zone, of course. Page 1 of the tool in question shows a single entry which indicates I made a post to that thread on Jan 31, 2009. Page 2 has a single entry which indicates a single post to my prior thread "Heidi Chronicles: Brrr" on Jan 28, 2009. Page 3 shows a single entry indicating a post I made to "White Moose" in Wildlife on Jan 24, 2009. Page 4 is completely blank as is Page 5. Page 6 shows a single entry for a post I made to "Heidi Chronicles: Mark My Word..." on Jan 18, 2009.

The above information would seem to indicate that I made only 1 post to "Heidi Chronicles: Masked Invasion" between the day I opened it and today. Likewise, I appear to have made only a single post to "Heidi Chronicles: Brrrr!" after opening it and a single post to "Heidi Chronicles: Mark My Word...". I am a much more prolific talker than that. LOL. Or is this how the tool is supposed to work"? Am I missing something?

- Again, using this tool on my account with the "Show all forums" option, I see a lot of blank pages. By that I mean that there are no entries shown in the tool on Pages 4, 5, 9, 11, 12...

- Using the same option(s) indicated above, the tool never mentions my posts to the thread I created in Handyman "Ghost in The Garage" or the one in General Discussion "Vonage...". In fact, even when the sort option is set to "Show All Forums" the tool appears to only be showing my activity in Wildlife (which is my main Forum at present, but I do occasionally wander elsewhere).

On the other hand, if I search for Handyman and General Discussion specifically posts made to the above referenced threads do show up, but there still appears to be only one post for each of the threads whereas I made 2 or more posts to each.

In summation, I do think something is wrong with this tool.

I wonder if it's a browser thing? It works just fine for me--I didn't go through all 197 pages of posts I've made, but I did look at the first 10 or so and they all looked fine, and when I tried viewing just the posts in a couple of particular forums that worked fine too. (I'm on a Mac with Safari browser)

I just checked mine in both Firefox and IE and they both look like they always have.

I really don't expect this to work, but it's worth a try. When on the first page, hold down the shift key and click on your refresh button and see if it loads better.

No, it looks like there's something hinky going on with them. (I logged in as scutler, and encountered the same problems she did.)

This is a programming issue for Dave's eyes. Hopefully he's taking a well-deserved break this weekend, and spending time with his family--but I'll be sure he sees this, and give him some examples to look early next week (Monday's are a bugabear, with a lot of reporting and other to-do's but hopefully he can squeeze in a few minutes taking a look at this.)

Thanks, Everyone,

Terry, Thanks for letting me know that I'm not loosing it and don't need to try to debug my browser.

Until I saw this thread, I didn't even know this feature existed. After reading Shari's post above, I tried the feature. I only posted my information to back up her claim and to provide trouble shooting info for you. As a developer, I totally sympathize with the difficulties of finding and fixing every little 'bug'. I also totally understand the concept of having tons of other [probably more pressing] issues on your plate. I, for one, am in no particular hurry.

Liz...I bet something is wrong on your's as well. You have been much more active than I, yet you have only 197 pages listed? I have 248 listed...though granted some have no entries, as scutler mentioned.

Thanks for checking Terry. I am looking for conversations with specific people, not topics, so I ...(drudge)...need to go through every page...(ugh).

I appreciate the backup scutler...thanks!

Yokwe,
Shari

By the way...

Happy Birthday Terry! Thanks for the attention to this, when it should have been on yourself! You are a doll, as usual.

I have my settings so that it displays 100 results per page--I think the default is to display 20 so if you never went in and changed it then it's not surprising that you'd have more pages. Although I haven't actually counted to make sure that there are actually 100 posts showing up on each page, so could be I'm short a few too and just don't notice it!

You might find using the advanced searching capabilities on Google more useful in tracking down your conversations with specific people--you can tell Google to search only on DG, and if you include your username and the person's name who you were conversing with and ideally a few words relating to the subject of the conversation you may be able to find what you are looking for pretty quickly.

You never cease to amaze me! I didn't know I could do that...I'll give it a try. Thanks!

I have went through that page and it should be fixed now!

Thank you very much Dave. Mahalo, Komol Tata, and gracias.

Yokwe,
Shari
