Those crows are so funny, Duc! Love seeing those western birds.

Here's a male house finch looking all handsome.

This picture makes me chuckle I have two large trees in the yard, and all of these birds chose to sit on this one branch.

Great pictures all. I think Crows are neat. Mrs. Ed, those birds were making it convenient for you to get their pictures!

This is not a very good shot, but it looks as though this female Cardinal is missing a portion of her beak. Perhaps it's just the way the light is hitting it..........

Nice pics guys!

This is a terrible one but it's very grey here and I had to take it through the window.

Anyway I was happy to see the female Hairy Woodpecker here. She doesn't come very often and I've never seen a male.

Very nice pics everyone...you are busy again this morning! You are lucky to see that Hairy Pelle, ours has been scarce lately.

This one is for Mrs. Ed. This Eastern Meadowlark showed up this morning in the dead tree and I took this shot from about 50 yards. It turned out better than I thought it would!

great pix, all.

I just had to shovel to the feeders, too, nanny. your pic looks very familiar!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ohh, thanks for that Rose. Someday I hope to see one!

It has its bill (red) wide open; the thing sticking out is a sunflower seed or similar that it is eating.

Yah, that seed looks like a little cigar!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Thank you Resin! I feel better about that now. I was worried about her.

That's wonderful to hear Resin. Thanks!

There are a TON of robins flying around. There were several waves coming up from the river (which is "down below" and a ways off from me), and now they're starting to fly back towards that way (where the woods are). Some are stopping in the trees out back, a few in one of my crabapples. Can't get good pictures, unfortunately.

So when does spring start for birds? It is practically Feb, but we are at least 1 month away from the snow melting (more like 2).

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I've always seen a robin or two around the 6th of February. This year I saw one at Christmas. I have heard of there being winter flocks in various places in the area, but I don't see them winter in my yard.

My mind left me. Finches?

2 male and 1 female cardnials. I have seen 4 males and 3 females but cant catch them.

I think we should start a new thred to show under our feeders, esp for us northern folks. we'd have one long thread where all the pix look the same. lol

Nice pics chickenlady!

I'm soooo happy! Another female Anna's hummingbird arrived two days ago and I finally got her picture through the window yesterday . She's skiddish now, but she'll soon get used to me being around.

I've lost one female, but still have two males so my total is 3 but others should soon be arriving.

Here's the female that left, but hopefully she'll be okay with that broken beak.

I believe Spring is close. My Tree Swallows have started arriving and checking out their three houses on our deck. They're already diving at me if I stand out there.

Next weekend is the Massachusetts Audubon bird count--please all different birds show up. Lovely portrait of the European robin.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

The robins really are here, and have been hanging out mostly in a neighbors yard (she has a crabapple that is popular). There has also been a few in trees near me. Makes for good pictures!

I like this one because it shows the pattern on the underside of the tail. Not sure I ever saw that before (usually I see robins on the ground)

I also saw a common redpoll today. I think it is hanging out with the pine siskins that are here.

I love that little Robin..they remind me so much of our bluebirds.

Nice pics everyone and such a nice variety too!

Duc...those pics of your Swallows and Hummingbirds makes me even more anxious for spring to get here so we can see our summer birds return.

The Meadowlarks are in full force today and have been singing like crazy!

We cross posted Evie...What a great variety of birds you have...and you have a Redpoll!! Lucky you! You should post it on the Redpoll thread so we can all droll!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)
