The lady who cleaned my house for four years (she's 61) went to Arizona with a girl friend and met a man who was also 61 and had 10 million $$$. He took he to Mexico for Christmas and now she is living in Arizona. He bought her a new house. So any time you turn a corner your life can change completly. It's best to always think of it as an adventure. She had given up on ever finding anything fun in life again and now she is on an adventure.
Weird Weather of '09!! ....... #3
I don't want 10 million $$$, I don't want an adventure, and I don't want a house in Arizona. Just a roll in the hay once in a while.
LOL
Portland I love your honesty! Forget the $$ and the house go for the gusto girl!
Susan I love the sparrow, I have never seen one that color. What kind of chicks did you order? I would love to see pics when they arrive. My four chickens where not happy today when I let them out of thier coop, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with the ground! It was frozen solid!
This morning it was 24 here and warmed to 38. I managed to get some weeding done in an area that had full sun for about four hours, enough to thaw it out for a bit. Thank goodenss for "hot hands" warmers. I think my nose is still frozen though!
Well that would definitly be an adventure. Hurry around the next corner.
I get where you're coming from, Portland, but I'm just materialistic enough that I'd be hard put to turn away love in a $10M package.
I'll keep thinking positive. Love to hear those stories with happy endings.
OK - I'll take the millions. We can all get seeds. Lots and lots of seeds.
I'm still looking for a house. We still have over a month and a half before we have to be out, so I'm not willing to really compromise yet. Right now we don't have any prospects to speak of. I have faith that things happen for a reason and that it'll work out, but it would be really nice if the powers that be made getting to that point less stressful.
Portland - don't forget the greenhouses that we'll need to house the precious seedlings.
10 million and seeds, now your talking!
And greenhouses, don't forget the greenhouses.
Judging from the other thread, I think Pix is going to need a few greenhouses.
I want a greenhouse with a gabled glass roof and heat and an art studio at one end.
Paid for and utilities free please. Hey if we're going to dream, go all out. LOL
why not! that's the way to do it.
Dang... let's all send Gardner105 (Susan) WARM wishes!!! The news just said that the current temp. in Bend was - 6 deg. cold I'd say. And I thought that it was cold here. Sheesh...
Portland that sounds fantastic! And yes Pix could use another greenhouse, hers is at maximum capacity!
I'll take an all expenses paid, heated greenhouse, with art studio!
BTW, it's snowing fairly heavily here right now.
I actually dreamed about a greenhouse last night - what is happening to me? All of you with greenhouse needs - as soon as I find the man.
Woke up to an inch of snow and it is coming down heavily. Not quite what was predicted. I know most of you get a lot of snow and are sick of it but I love it.
Gardener105 please take care & stay warm out there in your frigid temps!
Thank you ladies! It was 2 here last night when I went to bed, it's 14 right now. BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I don't have to go out quite yet, but I do after while to take care of my chickens. I'm getting 26 chicks Mon. I'll set up the trough with the heat lamp Sun. night so it will be nice and warm in there. I think I'll have DH put 4 hay bales in the barn so I can put them around the trough and insulate it. I can't wait to get my chicks! I just love raising those little guys, they're soooooooo cute!
Susan
Good luck with your chicks Susan. Sounds like you've thought of everything. Stay warm.
No snow here. It was 25 when I got up, 35 now. Overcast and yukky looking outside. I'm still working on my cupboards so I'll just ignore it. We,ve had a couple of visitors for about 4 days now, I hope they stay. I've been trying not to disturb them, so they can settle into the neighborhood.
If you look real close, there's some little ones in between the two big one's. Thought at first we had babies, but with the binoculars it looks like a couple of mallards. Like I said I'm trying not to disturb them.
Awesome, Sally. There were some mallards here a few years ago. I loved hearing them come waddle into the yard. Speaking of visitors, DH went to the store yesterday evening, came back home and turned off the lights in the kitchen and told me to look out the window. We had a herd of deer 6-8 maybe. Haven't seen that many before. They must be hungry. Yikes!
Sally - how cool! What a nice view you have with those ducks. I wonder where they came from and are they heading north already? I know nothing about ducks except that they fly around and some people try to shoot them.
We now have 28 degrees & several inches of snow - still coming down. Koka was prancing around in the yard and jumping & rolling in the white stuff. Maybe it's doggie cocaine.
IT'S HERE!!! A - Z arrived this morning! It is a used 2004 edition and is in perfect condition. What a nice day to spend with a book and tea. I am so excited!
Sally, those are Canadian geese, Honkers to be exact. These are ducks, Mallards and the one in the very back with the white is a pintail. That's the first and last time I've seen one, that was taken last yr in my yard. As you can see they are eating the wild bird block and the seed under the feeder.
Susan
Hang in there, Laura.
Portland, don't underestimate the influence of this crowd. Before you know it, your refrigerator crisper will be full of seeds, too. ^_^

Pretty deer Willow, healthy looking too thanks to you!
Susan
Yikes, I had to go back and look at the pic again of the 'mallards'. Maybe I need glasses. :)
I know the geese are there, it's the two little ones you can barely see between the two geese that are mallards. When I looked with the binoculars, I could just make them out. At first I thought they were baby geese. They're still out there, I just heard them honk. We used to have a nesting pair here every year, then one of the pair was killed and it was just one coming back. He was here earlier, but left. Now we have these two, so we'll see if they stay.
Geez guys!! I do know the difference between ducks and geese. LOL
Awesome picture of the ducks Susan. We never get that many. Where do you get a seed block like that? Maybe I could get more ducks to come to our pond.
Not to close with those deer Willow, if they get startled, they've got a mean kick. Beautiful picture.
Thanks for the warning Sally. I know they can be vicious. This doe once jumped on a mini poodle I had and split her shoulders open. She never did stop wanting to chase them though.
I once worked with a gal from Pennsylvania. She had a whole different outlook on deer. She saw them as dangerous vermin.
Apparently they once had a buck crash through a sliding glass door in their house after seeing his reflection (this was during mating season).
That had to have been scary and messy and sad.
It's sort of like raccoons - the females can appear pretty docile, but the males tend to travel in pairs and are never nice.
rc sees them as garden ravagers! I'm lucky that they pretty much only get my apple tree and I usually have plenty to share.
Thanks Sally. You nailed it!!!!
Oh wow, what a chore! But, it will look great when it's all done.
Just noticed the old nasty liners on the floor in front of the cupboard.....yuk!
Having the old stuff there too see though is good. It gives an idea of what progress you've made. It looks 20 times better now!
