spring CS roundup

Dallas, TX

Wow! I never seen one shaped like that first one. How in the world did they get those leaves to stand straight up? I know they are not called leaves ... lol
Anyway I love them all. Thanks!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Okay. I am going! I'm late starting seeds, but I'm sure I'll have something ready.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Well mine are the second one. But one has really wide leaves. I think that's the one that blooms white.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok everyone, got some bad news. I went to the park office today and all the pavilions but one are booked for May 2. And that one is way too small for our needs, with no kitchen or playground. So, our options are to either take the small one anyway, or to change the date. Right now the only two dates open for the two large pavilions (southwood and central) are April 11 and May 9. April 11 is easter weekend and May 9 is Mother's day weekend. Any ideas?

Kim

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Either day is fine with me. Thanks for working on this for us, Kim!!

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

As far as I'm concerned either date is fine.

Ann

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I would go with Easter, Mother's Day around TAMU is a nightmare.

Bob

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Personally, I think more people would have family commitments for Easter than for Mother's Day weekend. I agree it can be hectic around here, but Southwood pavilion is nowhere near the university, so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue. Since these dates are both around holidays, I figure they won't disappear as quickly but I would like to try and make the reservation this week to avoid any more issues. Sorry for not getting over there sooner, I've just been too busy.

Thanks, Kim

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I hope it will be Mother's Day weekend as my kids and grandbabies want to have a family Easter in La with their Aunt Dollie and cousins.... this is the first year that my three girls have been in the same state at one time in years.... I can't stand the thought of missing the family get together or the roundup... LOL!!! It would be so hard to decide which one I would go to... LOL!!! I know Dollie isn't going to miss the round up so I will have to be in La. without her and it just wouldn't be the same..... Hahaha!!!

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

May 9 would work for me, though the East Texas RU is the following week-end. I may just have to choose one to attend.

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I was just thinking, I can always go to La. after the roundup... So, either date will be fine with me....

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Since my son is divorced and the DGD's are with mom on the weekends I would rather it be May 9th as hopefully he can bring them here on Sat. of Easter weekend.

But other wise which ever weekend works out as I can not say I will definitely be there. But I am praying to be.

Blessings,
Sandy

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Easter weekend is going to be unacceptable to a lot of people, I'm betting. So is Mother's Day weekend, to a lesser degree. Did you check on other parks or just this one? Sorry this is happening. I know this is a big hassle for you. Personally, I don't care about the kitchen, eating well is not why I want to go, but I know a lot of people would care.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

This information is for the College Station parks and rec. Now, Bryan also has a parks system and there is one or two pavilions that may work. I will call them tomorrow and see what may be available. They are a bit cheaper so it may be an option.

Kim

Dallas, TX

Gee ... I hope this is the last park we were at ... it was so pretty and serene ... and green ... sigh...
I dot care what day ... i just need to know right away ... I got people!

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

matters not to us....which day....or location

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok guys, may have found an alternative. Sue Haswell park in Bryan has a pavilion that seats 300, in the pic it looks big enough for what we would need. Good news is there is no deposit and the fee would only be $75 plus an additional $50 for the kitchen. Downside is we could only have it until 2pm, but if we started earlier that might be ok. What does everyone think? It is also available all day on May 9.

Kim

Ooops, forgot the link: http://www.bryantx.gov/departments/?name=pf_sue_haswell_memorial_park

I am going w/whatever the majority wants. Makes no difference to me. Just let me know.

Ann

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to make it to this RU after all (no matter when it is). Will probably only go to the North TX RU this year. Too much going on...

You guys have fun & good luck working out the details!

Jennifer

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I think that looks fine, Kim.

Missouri City, TX

Thanks for the blast, patrob.

Any Saturday will work for DW & me.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

An earlier start will be OK with us - either way, we're coming so we'll go with majority, as well. Lee & Dee

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Either May 2nd or 9th would work for me, just glad it is in MAY!!!

I will be going down the night before more than likely. The early (out by 2pm) may be a problem for those coming from East Tx or Houston though.

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I'm west of San Antonio. I figure if I can get there fairly early, maybe others with a long way to go can. And I can do it if I set my mind to it. But either way, that's fine with me.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Either day works for us. I just hope I can be there.

LindaTx could we possible carpool? When do you leave and what route do you go?

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

It all sounds workable to me.

Bob

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

So it sounds like we basically have a choice between two options:

1) Move the date to May 9 and reserve the Southwood pavilion

2) Keep the date May 2, limit the time from 9am-2pm and reserve the Bryan Park pavilion.

I'd like to make the reservation tomorrow if possible because next week is going to get hectic again for me.

Kim

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim the only problem I see with May 9th is that East Texas is having theirs on May 16th and that will be 2 weeks in a row. But then having to quit by 2 p.m. doesn't seem right either.
I always like to come to College Station because I get to see my friends from the Houston and San Antonio area, but this year I would also like to go to the east Texas one and meet those people too.
Of course I maybe the only one trying to attend both of them, so this is most likely not a problem for other people.
Just letting you know where I,m coming from, but I am afraid I am not much help.
Josephine.

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Either day is fine with me...

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I will say from mont belvieu which is 45 miles east of Houston I would pass on May 2 being there earlier for me would be tough. And I don't think as much as we love to visit the 2 P.M. would work. But my opinion. I love to visit all because it is a maybe 2 time a year family reunion.

May 9th would be good for me if I get to come.

Thanks Kim as always you are an Angel to do this.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok, it seems like people for the most part are ok with May 9. I just drove by the Bryan pavilion, and I think it would work just as nicely for us as Southwood in College Station. There is a big parking lot next to it, and there is a playground and a path. Also, on May 9 we could rent it for the whole day and it would be cheaper. So I am leaning towards that.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I second the vote for the pavilion in Bryan, all day on May 9th. It sounds great. :-)

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim, I am like Josephine on trying to have May 9th with the following weekend RU in Jacksonville.

I have made plans on attending both and I would have to pass on CS because my closest friend comes to Jacksonville but not CS. I just don't think I could handle back to back swaps.

Has anyone considered March?

Charlene

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

We'll be making both CS & Jacksonville - we don't want to miss either one! May is a splendid month for such events and we have plenty of time to prepare for both.......they would just happen to be back to back weekends (smile)

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok, so unless there are any major objections, I think I will go ahead and reserve the Bryan pavilion for May 9th. If by some chance that is taken I will default to the CS one. I will try to do this today. Thanks everyone!

Kim

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm all for May 9. All my kids will come on Saturday, May 8 so that they can have Mother's Day at home w/their own little families. Church comes first w/us on Sunday but we are out by 10:30 and can be on our way. It takes us about 2 hours (I think) to drive from Katy to CS. If worse comes to worst we can attend mass Saturday evening. When something this "big" comes your way you don't want to miss it especially when getting out and away from home means going to church or the grocery store. It takes little to make me happy! LOL

Ann

Missouri City, TX

May 9th is Saturday - not Sunday.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

See, I told you I don't get out much. Here I am sitting around the house and suddenly May 9 becomes Saturday not Sunday. I need to get a life. Thanks, Bubba. LOL

Ann

Missouri City, TX

I have to very careful about my Saturdays - I cook Sunday breakfast at the retaurant - except for two Sundays - Easter and Mother's Day - we are closed those Sundays.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

How in the world do you manage to keep all those 2 days straight? That's a lot for a man to remember.

Ann
