spring CS roundup

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim D-mail me your addy and I will send a check to help out on the reservation fee. I would use paypal, but they won't let me anymore. Someone accessed my account and it cost paypal nearly 400 bucks to pay me back and they have set my account only to receive money and not to send. I don't know how long that will last.

I will say I will put in a maybe for being there. May 2nd is my son's birthday and it depends on more than that. I don't wonder too far from home now. LOL I have just about become a recluse. But depending on other circumstances there my be 2 of us. As you all know it has been 28 months since Dennis passed. Well 10 months ago I met someone online and we have been talking everyday 4-5 hrs a day since.

He came for 8 days the end of July. I never thought I could love again but I can not tell you all how happy he makes me.
Hopefully he will have the money and be moving from Baltimore to Texas and he ask me to marry him and I said YES. I hope it is ok to announce here. I have never been this happy. Yet this sad because of the money circumstances, But I am believing he will make it Just don't know when. I have never shed so many tears of happiness in my life. So prayerfully there will be 2 of us. :o)

Congrats Kim!!! Love you!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That is super news Sandy! Glad you have found someone to share your life with. Hope the best for both of you, and look forward to meeting him.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Thank you Sheila. Everyone will love him. He is as silly as I am, we love the same music and he loves to make things and is anxious to help me in the yard. And he is already impressed with everyone and everything I have told him about all of you "My Family" here on DG.
I never dreamed of finding anyone with so many things we enjoy together. When he was here he fixed so many things that needed fixed and that is another thing I love is having a Honey that really does the Honey do lists without asking over and over.

I have said I believe God saved my best for last and I did not realize just how true that was going to be. :o)

I love all of you and pray even if he is not here there is a way I can come.

Blessings,
Sandy

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

That's wonderful, Sandy!!! ^_^

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

That's awesome news Sandy! I think about you often. You said you wanted some alstroemeria from me when I was trading it on the plant trading forum. I still have some. In fact I probably will have a lot because it keeps coming up. Hope to see you and "Honey" at the RU.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Thank you all. I can hardly wait for him to be here. Every second some days seems like eternity without him here. But I am positive that Jesus will see this through till he is here.

Sliverfluter oh yes I definitely want some of your alstroemeria. I am so addicted to flowers I am sure I will end up with a truck load. My first coop when Dennis came was the spring after Rita. This one will be the one following Ike. I only thought Rita did a a huge number on my yard and plants. And on top of that the winter we have had and Ike destroyed my hoop house. Not sure what will be left after the few freezes we have had. But it will work out it always does.

Here is a picture of it.

I would love to finally be able to go to a roundup. Just not this one, if it's on May 2. That's ok - I know there will be more! It just that my African Violet club is having our show/sale May 1-2.

SANDY!!! You go girl! I am so glad for you ... I just knew some guy would get a hold of you soon ... you are too sweet to be left alone. How exciting! I hope he gets to the RU.

I just called and the date is available for the Southwood pavilion on May 2. A big thank you to those who have offered to help pay the upfront cost. As soon as I receive the money I will go and make the reservation. As for everyone else, we will collect contributions at the RU once we know how many people will be attending.

Thanks! Kim

I actually don't need any more money to be sent at this time. Please, I don't want to have to keep track right now of people's contributions. But thank you everyone for offering to help out!

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Aw Sylvia, don't you go feeling like that! Someone as loved as you is never a failure!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL!! She hasn't got used to that new and improved hand yet!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh! by the way Pattie, how is the hand therapy going?

Wells, TX(Zone 8b)

I want to come to this RU too College Station is only about 2 1/2 hrs from me..So baring any problems Ill be there..

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL. Sometimes, when people run a spell-checker on various e-mail programs, it wants them to change my name to Patio. So
Patio, TX became one of my nicknames.

My hand is doing great. No therapy, and stitches are out. Thanks for asking. :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Glad you are doing well Pattie, you should have a talk with your computer!!!

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

As a beatnik wannabe, Patio sounds hep to me, Daddio!

Thank you, Jo!! :-)

Thanks for the trade thread, Charlene. :-)

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks so much Jo and Charlene! I have spent the last week preparing for a big experiment we are doing and just got done this morning with the embryo transfer surgeries. This was my first time actually doing some transfers, pretty neat! Hopefully now I can breathe...at least for a week.

Kim, I'm so happy you're finishing up! My DD will be moving on to a real job with enough money this summer....at last! Doctors have to work so hard to get where they are going. I'm still on a virtual fence because it's so early, but think I'll be going to College Station in May also.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Will miss y'all, but no Roundups this year.

"eyes"

Dallas, TX

Kim ... I know I sound just like your parents ... but I will be so glad when you finish school ... just so I can call you Dr T! lol
btw Kim my Night Blooming Cereaus was left out in the cold and froze ... and you gave me colored ones ... I have never seen colored ones before ... so that will be on my list ;)

Patti why dont you return my calls?

Hey Maggie ... how are you? I might be able to come see you now that I have a new car. You ... Linda and Ceejay... all of you up there together. And I am retired too ... and I can walk now! lol

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

yeah Silvia!!!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Sylvia!! You're sounding mighty feisty. LOL on Dr T! Retirement is great - you'll love it. I still have those cleyeras - if only we could figure out a way to get them to you. Oh well, that would probably be more expensive than just buying new ones! I haven't heard from Linda (Smockette). Hope she's coming. Looking forward to seeing you again!! (Poor night-blooming Cereus - didn't have a chance...sniffle....)

Eyes - I'm sure sorry you can't come, but I know why. You and your DH are in my prayers. Seriously.

Dallas, TX

Ceejay I got Nissan Xterra with a rack on the top, it can carry anything. I was just thinking about those cleyeras today as I was looking at the five or six I got ... wondering if they had gotten any bigger or taller. I bought them because they are shade tolerant and I want to hide my ugly fence.
Anyway you hold on to them and I will come get them. Linda is coming, she is really tied up now days because she is taking care of Sass and tryin to get her back on her feet. Linda is such a sweetheart ... how many people would do that? My poor Cereaus is right, that the second time this has happen to my plants, I am never going to see them bloom. I got a girlfriend I gave a piece to about 7 or 8 years ago. The plant is huge and she has pictures of it just blooming away. She says was not going to give me anymore ... can you imagine? lol
Sandy I am so glad you met someone nice... please pray for me. lol

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia...I have a night blooming cereus that Ted gave me at the RU last spring. It has bloomed and is plenty big enough to take cuttings. I will bring you some of it at the Arlington RU in April if you want it.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, I have night blooming cereus too. One is white, one is pink and the other is still a mystery.:) I should be able to take cuttings too.

I also took cuttings of night blooming jasmin, spicy jatropha, alamanda, snow queen hibiscus, and brazilian plume.

BTW congratulations on retirement and new health! It's going to be an exciting spring for you.:)

Dallas, TX

Gee, thanks guys! :)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Sylvia - Do you have a night-blooming cereus http://www.desertusa.com/mag99/july/papr/nbcereus.html or epiphyllum strictum http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/222135/ ? The epi has flat "leaves" while the cereus has triangular leaves. Sheila's photo looks like the epi, and I, too, have a huge one that I can share.
