Think Spring! SWAP discussion thread for Feb. 21 seed party

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

Does anywone have unusual rudbeckia seeds?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Beck, I'm bringing MG seeds, too. You'll have plenty to chose from. Guess I had better start getting my seeds together.
Critter, I'll ask Ric about the row cover, we might be interested.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I have row cover, I'm just bad about using it...and fertilizer...and treatments...
If anybody wantsgallon milk jugs I can save --we make almost one a day.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'd take some milk jugs! Golly, your car will be full... rice hulls, milk jugs...

Froggy, I got some Rudbeckia hirta 'Cherry Brandy' this year... will see how many I have after I've winter sowed them... if they germinate well, I'll have extra plants this spring, at least.

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

Sounds good. If not, I'll just order the seeds and sow them a little late.

Thanks for the photo! I am sure hoping my little plants bloom this year. It makes a nice basal rosette of foliage, and it's a tough little plant -- that much I can vouch for. :-)

Holly, I should have you on everything except the Northern Sea Oats, which have not yet shown up in my stash... but I'm slowly getting organized, LOL

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

yes jill --I got this from you!
Gita should have plenty of Sea Oats

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sally,

The Hyssop will look great planted among these white beauties.

Jill, I am bringing Sea oats seeds.....I think about 10 packets.
How many people actually have asked for these? I can bring some more.....

Also--by Holly's Plant swap--all kinds of sprouts should be up under my Sea Oats bed. I brought them to one other swap--remember? They were no more than a blade of grass, but that is how they look the first year.

I will have a whole hodge podge of seeds - anyone is welcomed to any of them - lots of MG seeds (various types), Cypress vine, various seeds of plants that are butterfly/hummer attractors... I know Judy's taking the canna seeds off my hands - but is anyone interested in named dwarf canna tubers?
Canna x generalis 'Black Knight' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/37203/
Canna Lily 'Wyoming' http://davesgarden.com/tools/journal/viewentry.php?rid=191258
There are 1-2 others...I'm just not finding them - ugh...have to check when I get home. Any-who - those above "should" have 2 tubers of each
Aha - found my order list from last year - might have 1 or 2 of the 'President' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/37506/

Ah! In case you keep track of these things, those penstemon seeds were shared from a trade with Equilibrium. :-)

How come yours bloomed and mine didn't? *sniffle* Maybe mine are saving up for a big show this year!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I knew both of you had the Northern Sea Oats, I have them on my list twice both under Critter and Gita. Thanks guys.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Holly, did you want any of these passi seeds?

P. maliformis http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/76023/

P. rubra http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2434/

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Chantell- Black is my new Green--if you really HAVE to give Black Knight to somebody--I'll take a bit.
critter thanks for the family tree- My penstemon is in a fairly shady spot too....I dunno, My soil is very sandy based and I don't water much. Maybe the dryness...I'm guessing you have a clay soil.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Oh yes, Kubileya could you spare your P. maliformis please? I think that is different than the one I have. I don't know why I didn't get any seeds from mine last year.

Sally - consider him yours!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'm guessing mine spent too long in its pot (WS'd, then potted up, then procrastinated placing LOL). :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yeah, but he can recognize "prickly" LOL.

Dutch Plant Farm is having their 1/2 price sale. It doesn't say if it will still be in progress during swap day. If I remember correctly from last year, it seems it will go on until the marked plants are sold. Please correct me if you know any different Critter.

Here's the newsletter they sent me:
