Extreme Home Makeover visits my neighborhood

Have you ever tried Behr's website? Although there are some variations in color because of monitors, etc., it's really fun to play with. Plus if you sign up, they notify you in advance whenever the $5-off coupons are going to be in effect at HD----and that's ALL they ever send, too----no spam.

That's where I got all the samples from--for some of the colors I tried I picked them off of color swatches at HD but for others I got them from playing around on the website. I think I must have signed up since I ordered things off the website, but I don't remember getting emails from them.

Oh - I just found this thread, what fun! I don't watch this show either, but will this time. I like the house color... color changes so much depending on the light, I'm painting most of the interior of my house now - it's alot of work, but love it when I finish a room.

A nearby neighborhood had a mild invasion by the TV show Clean House yesterday. Supposed big yard sale was no more than than usual, with the addition of hordes of people and camera crews, etc. We laughed when we saw a lady being fed lines to say for a film clip. I think someone else took advantage of the publicity and held an estate sale on the next street. We came home with nothing, but had a good walk after pancakes for breakfast!

I'd die of embarrassment if I were on one of those housecleaning shows......and I don't think I'd want to take home anything from any of the ones I've seen, either!

Re: paint color---when we were having ours done, I called the contractor and told him that the trim color on two different sections of gutters didn't match. He very patiently told me that they were all being painted out of the same bucket. Sure enough, when the light changed, they were identical....

I thought I would mention that the Extreme Makeover crew is now in Tucson....Foothills area...work is progressing very quickly...but haven't seen any of the shows stars on our news yet. Jo

Well, Jo, it's now Sunday and if they're still there, they should complete the actual work on the property by mid-day Wednesday, if my experience here is typical. Evidence of the show's principals might have been visible early-on in some sort of community-volunteer-organizing promotion if your community needed such effort. You may be a community fully-involved in volunteer efforts on a regular basis, thus limiting the need for such extraordinary effort. I'm not sure how the effort would have ended here without the earlier promotion, but we had more volunteers than useful and those who were not utilized were re-directed to other efforts in town.

I'll tell you, though, it was sure a hoot to see all those little blue ants running about the property as the work progressed.

They'll come and go quickly, so rest easy. And have fun with it.
