Attachments in Dmail

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

We can't add .xls or .doc files? YUCKIE.... I wrote up a 2-day set of recipe suggestions for somebody, and it wouldn't let me attach.

Can we change that??!! Please????

TIA,
Jennifer

I'm not Dave, but I think the answer is no. Attachments can allow viruses into the system, so avoiding them helps us keep DG virus-free.

You can copy and paste the text into dmail, or see if they're willing to provide you their email address so you can send them an attachment to their personal email account.

It allows .jpg and other photo formats... huh.. that stinks.

Oh well, thanks for the prompt answer.

I think you can highlight your instructions and then copy/paste in the d-mail. Hope that works.

Take picture of it then send

Save to PDF and you can attach that (it will convert the PDF to an image format).

Yes, but allowing attachments which open the membership to viruses stinks more.

Do we have membership that would deliberately send a virus-infested .doc?

I thought the viruses were only active if you hit "open"??

Therefore, if a dmail came from someone I didn't know, with an attachment I wasn't planning on getting, I wouldn't open it ...

my two cents. that and a buck buys half a soda at the store... ;)

Virus-infested documents can be made to look innocent and someone can inadvertently receive and send them and never know. Doesn't have to be from someone doing it deliberately.
And anyone can send a d-mail, not just a subscriber although a non subscriber is limited to the amount of d-mails sent.

Yes, we deal with spammers here and other trouble makers. You don't know about it, because you aren't a part of the administration team.

You'd be surprised how many people don't exercise the same caution.

Thank You for protecting our computers Dave. I get Dmail from people I dont know everyday.

Spammers, phishers, scammers and malware authors would be out of business if everyone exercised some common sense. Sigh.

Every time you invent a foolproof system, someone comes along and builds a better fool.

You can also get viruses from someone you know. I spent a small fortune recently ridding this thing of a virus DH got from his daughter...and she didn't send it!! The virus got into her address book and sent itself to all of her contacts. I would imagine the same thing could be done through d-mail.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

yes you are right I forget that you get viruses from many places and many ways.

Huh... I didn't know we could upload pdf files. I learned TWO things today! I think my brain is going to explode....
