Brian, I did not know your father, but I thoroughly enjoyed the many threads he had on Dave's Garden. I always looked for them to read and learn.
I hope you and your mother will accept my condolences. He WILL be missed!

I too am so shocked and don't know the right words to say. Please know that I will miss him also.

Brian, your letter makes him even more life-like to me, I did not meet him in person, but shared some art in the stained glass forum. Please accept and convey my condolences to the rest of the family.

I only knew him here on DG, but like everyone else we looked so forward to seeing his next project.
He inspired me so much with his colors and free form designs. I'll truly miss his posts and projects.
I'm so very sorry for your loss.

I have a story to tell.
I never met Robert in person. But I remember a tread I was on and I felt I was not wanted. Robert Dmail me and told me to stand my ground, I did. and he was beside me the whole way. I am now happy in the tread.
He was so kind and thought full. I will surly miss him.

So sorry we've lost this man who has let his creative spirit soar and best of all he's shared it with all of us. His art and creativity will live on and on in remembrance and actuality. I never met him but it seems that it would have been a seismic experience to spend a few hours and a bottle of single malt talking and learning about his creative experience.... very inspiring mind. I'm so happy I got to know him in Dave's Garden. Ta ta, Robert ..... can't wait to see the rainbows you come up with! Inspire us all!

AOL has some news this evening.... NASA's Hubble Space Telescope spotted shooting stars 'racing' towards the heavens like 'bullets, and creating brilliant arrowhead structures" hmmmmm

My condolences to Balvenie's family and many friends here on DG and elsewhere. Someone so dearly loved and respected had to feel that every moment of every day.

I think he would get a kick out of that. Art is everywhere!!

I am really sad about this.

I did get to meet Robert and his wife, Barb, a couple years ago at their house. Which was wonderful to tour of his stain glass and wood work in it. All done by Robert! Also, got to see his garden and dogs.

He was a wonderful woodworker and he reminded me of my father who did stain glass and woodwork all his life too. So that is why I really enjoyed talking with him.

He was like me too in another way. He was hard of hearing so I did understand what he went thru with not being able to communicate very well like on the phone or with people. But you make do. That is why Dave's Garden is great for people like us being able to communicate here more easily.

So, I am really sorry to hear that he passed away. I do hope you, Brian, and Barb, will be okay with him being gone. The world has lost a wonderful caring man.
