Most Disappointing Shot Vol.5

Marlton, NJ

Downy Woodpecker

Not enough light for a higher shutter speed so I saved it for this thread.

That would have cool pelle!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Pelle, it's still pretty cool. You've inspired me to share one of my favorite photos on this thread. It's a horrible picture of an Acorn Woodpecker and yet I just love it!

cool lighting Elphaba!

Brown Creeper... ugh!

The second one is not bad!

I went for a walk at the Houston Arboretum. This was the only picture that I got of this one. If I were in my backyard, I would assume it was the pine warbler, but I can't tell.

Quoting:
This was the only picture that I got of this one

I'd guess Chinese Privet.

;-)

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

LOL

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Ditto LOL! It's definitely a better pic of the plant than the bird!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

I was sure hoping this one turned out, but it didn't!

Man....sooooo close to it tho!!

Carson City, NV(Zone 6b)

It's kind of hard to get a good shot when the subject is trying to drive you away from her nest by divebombing your head. And then her mate comes home and they take turns harrassing you.

Oh my!!

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Short-eared Owl?

Resin

Carson City, NV(Zone 6b)

Northern harrier. My coworker got a much better shot of them.

I like that shot Katlian!

The Starlings were arguing and quickly took it into the air so I missed it. :-)

Thanks Katlain.

onewish, They look so pretty with that background.

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

It's an American robin, I swear!

I had to lighten it a LOT to tell though!! (same pic as above, processed)

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

These photos are as much fun to see as the good pictures!

Got this Bewick's Wren the other day from inside the house and was so hoping it would be clearer. Oh well, you've given me a spot to show it.

That dark eyed junco looks the same as the bewicks wren to me in reverse, also they are eating the same seed or whatever -that's cheating!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Those are kind of fun pics anyway! I like your speedy one too Rntx!

My biggest disappointment today is that my computer froze during the transfer of my pics. The Kodak guy said that I have to install the latest version of their software in order to retrieve them and I don't want to do that! Every time I put a new version of their software on my computer it uses up more memory and operates more slowly and crashes my computer more often. I'm so annoyed!

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

This yellow rumped warbler was nicely showing off his yellow rump spot, but of course he flew off by the time I had the camera locked in!

Seemana, both of these birds are always here grabbing a chopped peanut and quickly taking off for the nearby trees.

Cute yellow spot anyway rntx22

I just wish this was clearer and not so fuzzy...
Everything was moving because it was very windy that day...
The Cardinal almost looks like a red angel :)

Hi- may I? I love my great crested flycatcher, and even managed to stake him out one late afternoon. I can't bring myself to discard the pic even tho its bad!

not so bad at all! Love the tail!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

It's so cool- It has been seen for the last couple of years by my veg garden. He perches on the tomato cage in spring and swoops down for something--flies or gnats around compost? I know his call now and look for him. a cinnamon tail, they call it.
But I tried to reduce the glare on his front and got nowhere.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

This was non glarey and non focussy

He is very cute Sally!

Thanks, pelletory. OK, I have to admit that's not very disappointing. I just took and discardr some nice ones yesterday, a cardinal in the yard turned his head and it was an orange blob with no head LOL.
this titmouse would be pretty good if not for the branch.

SusanLouise, that is a really cool pic... the wings look awesome

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

love that cardinal susan. I like the titmouse - it is like the branches frame him.

this would have been a cool bottoms up shot if it was in focus

I have one that takes the cake. First time seeing wood ducks, but it was nearly dark so I had to do a long exposure just to see them. Of course they were moving so all I got was colorful blur. Darn it!

And another first for me - this mountain chickadee from my trip to Montana last September. Even with enhancement his little head is still really shadowy and he is out of focus
