Couple of bad shots of a White-throated Sparrow
DAILY PICS VOL 168
Nice camera Dave - I just checked out a review of it - are you a professional photographer as well? I am so impressed with your shots. Do you use a tripod?
Hi Anita
No, not a professional photographer, but thank you. I am actually a retired lawyer.
I used to shoot off-hand exclusively and still do most of the time. It is almost essential if you hope to get the birds in flight. I do use a tripod on occasion.
If you like bluebirds you might enjoy looking at my on-line site

Ah that explains the equipment - ex lawyer (just poking).
Take care
Dave, I peeked at the photos in your site and they're beautiful!!
NICE duc!!
Duc, I'm so jealous of your eagles that I'm not even going to comment! I have to rave about your waxwing photo though! WOW!!! I'm sure Resin will count, but I'm just amazed at the number and the sky is so gorgeous.
I'm sure Resin will count
I make it 157 there, and one Bald Eagle ;-)
Resin
LOL Resin!!! I knew you couldn't resist!
There is just something not right about someone who would count those birds......LOL!
I'd been set the challenge, so I had to do it . . . ;-)
Easier to do than counting the 107 Bohemian Waxwings I saw this morning, at least in a photo they stay still!

Oh my golly can't believe the gorgeous birds - and variety - that have been posted in the past 24 hrs. This has been an unusually busy day in my yard. From one little 'ol pine sisken over the past several days to 2 dz. in one fell swoop! And, they didn't mind that I stood not more than 6 feet from them!
Nice pics everyone!
I just spotted the female Hairy Woodpecker at the tail prop suet feeder!
She hasn't been here since last winter.
Cute everyone.
Now nanny, you KNOW I WANTED TO COUNT THOSE BIRDS too! hahah.
Well I went birdwatching today. 20 some degrees and High winds. Here's how it went.
First thing of interest, I saw an American Kestrel exactly in the same spot that I saw my last one in the summer.
Then I tried to sneak up on geese and ducks and scared them all off.
Then I almost slid the truck off the road into the marsh.
Then I saw a male bluebird on a line. I guess they stick around here.
Then I fell on my bum getting out of the truck and also dropped the camera. The lesson? Put the spikey thing on the end of the monopod, and don't park on ice.
Then I walked and saw no birds what-so-ever.
Then I went to the park in town and finally saw some more birds. All the mallards, 3 eagles fishing, bunch of gulls and 4 Common Flickers on one tree. I could only get 2 in a photograph though, and not very close.
And then I came home before I killed myself.
How was YOUR day?

Such cute Flickers! Hope your bum and back are okay.
OH MY GOODENESS!!!! What a day you had Mrs. Ed!!!!! But man $ Flickers on one tree would be cool!
ANother very dark and very dreary day here. It was 48 when we got up it is now 33. I did not feel like messing with settings today so I put the camera on Auto and went out. Did not find much at all.
Best find was my Cooper's Hawk...which is once again a nice slightly blurred, in bad light shot! LOL
Thought I'd show you a pic of the Green-tailed Towhee in NJ.

That IS a pretty exciting day nanny! I almost never see hawks up close. I learn something new every single time I get on-line with you guys - a green tailed towhee. Pretty bird pelle. Is it unusual to find one in NJ?
Yes OP their range is in the western US.
