What's blooming in January?

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

This has been my biggest surprise. Lousiana Iris blooming. Just weird.

I have some osrt of Iris that looks really happy right now. It's going to bloom shortly I think.

This is an example of the time my Camellia bloomed last spring.

Same time (last year, if one enlarges the thumbnail pix, one can see the date stamp on these) my flowering quinces were blooming. Here is the pink....

LIly: Your quinces are lovely.

Debin: That camellia japonica is such a lovely rose color. I think I have some that color, but will have to wait until others start blooming.

Deb, that gorgeous iris looks good enough to eat.

That's Black Gamecock, Ardesia, in case it wasn't obvious. It's quite a bit ahead of schedule. This one's just a rogue, I think, because the others don't have buds yet.

How are yours doing?

Oh, just got the Black Gamecock for self and for my most fanatical Gamecock fan friend. Cannot wait for it to bloom (but LATER, not this week -- lol)

Pyro: There is another Louisiana Iris that has the USC colors. Can't recall the name. I have it written down somewhere. If I can find it, I'll let you know. :)

Thanks! I would love to get it, too.

I thought that was what it was; I had that one in my pond at my home in Columbia but I moved away 10 years ago.

My new babies are doing wonderfully well. :-)

I don't have a lot blooming this month, and after the projected low temps around 10F later this week I'll have very little left alive. This is the coldest it's been since the last big snow event in January 2000.

Cranesbill geranium ... lured out of dormancy by the usually warm weather the past few weeks. I've also seen a lot off Prunus mume in full bloom in Raleigh... I think they are going to be reduced to brown mush very soon :-{

Camillia sasanqua ... still holding on in spite of several hard freezes.

One last surviving paperwhite narcissus - this is really too far north for them.

Beautiful blooms, Tom. Thank you for sharing. We're getting the hard freeze warnings here for the rest of this week and into the weekend.

Same here, looks like at or below freezing overnights the next 6-7 nights.
Such a pretty geranium, Tom. I think your camellia will be ok, at least.
