New Years Blooms

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I was looking at my Irish Flirt this morning, and thought it looked lopsided . . . upon closer inspection, I realized that when I repotted a few weeks ago, I left a half row of leaves . . . Long story short - I removed about 8 leaves and have them sitting in water for now, if anyone wants to stick some. Let me know, 'cause I'll toss 'em on Friday.

edited to say that all leaves have been sent to interested DGers this am!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Happy New Year back to everyone! Love all the pictures and good to hear from you, jannich with your pretty little sinningia.

Goldleaf is still around. I think she still has company and family in town.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

happy New year everyone!! Very nice kitties-- I am not a cat person--like them but have too many dogs and birds-We do have a geriatric cat named Luna whose bad habits make her a "barn" cat. Actually she has a "penthouse" in our pole barn--and NEVER comes down. Requires a step stool to tend to her needs-- but she is perfectly happy. Lovely sinningia Jannich!! Nicole I would love a couple leaves-- but am afraid it is too cold to send them up here:(

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Pheobe... yes Virgil and Skye are littermates. You would have thought that Skye and Remy would be, but they came from different areas and are different ages.

Wow Lin! Miss Princess DOES look like Virgil... amazing!!!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Only thing I had bloomin' right now in gessies is a streptocarpella... and this is actually a cutting in a glass!

Oh, that streptocarpella is so pretty! I have two small plants that I rooted from cuttings received in a trade but I think the blooms on mine are a bit lighter. That is really pretty.

I can't get over your Virgil ... he sure looks just like our gal Princess. She sometimes lies just like that, paws stretched out and crossed. Next time I will try to capture a photo of her like that.

Hope everyone is having a great 1st day of the new year! I made a big pot of Chicken Noodle Soup and a chocolate cherry dump cake for dessert! My diet begins tomorrow, LOL.

I love all these pictures! Susan and Nichole, you know I don't like either of you because you can grow such pretty avs and I can't!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Well, Gail, look at it this way . . . you can grow streps and sinningias, and I can't. We break even!

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Syrumani, that Rob's plant is pretty,I love the different color leaves on his plants.

Susan, your plants look great.Save me a leaf of the varigated AV's for a trade please.Sako is a beauty!

Have a good day everyone!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Jan,
You know you can have any leaf from anything I have... I have to go out Nic and see what her name is... brb...
Sue

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jan, I have a lot of variegated avs because I like to propagate them but don't like to grow them.......will go separate some for you now.
I have Wrangler's Pink Patches, Candy Fountain,Wrangler's Masked Ryder, Neverland Dream, Wrangler's Desert Mirage, Carousel Waltz, Wrangler's Branding Time, Rambling Lassie and the rest are solid green......forgot Aca's Daphne

That is what I will do today.......separate baby avs...........and I promised some to you, Nichole..........I swore I wouldn't separate them but I have to as they are getting too big........

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Nic,
Sorry I can't find the name to it... What else is new...LOL I have baby streps to pot up and I have been messing with plants so much lately I don't want to do it...LOL
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I lied to you Jan! I am only potting up a few. The rest can stay in their multiple crown pots until they get somewhere. I am like Susan, I am not wanting to pot up all these.

Don't you some days just want to do nothing? That is today for me but I have already separated Wrangler's Pink Patches so will just do what I want throughout the day..........

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

TurtleChi, your blooms are beautiful. I especially like the first AV pic. I love the varigated leaves. This way when there are no flowers, you can still enjoy the beautiful leaves.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks ladies.I'm having one of those do nothing days myself.LOL.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Imadigger, I owe you a box anyway with strep leaves............as I pot up just the variegated avs I will let them grow a few weeks and add to your box............so far I have planted up Wrangler's Pink Patches, Wrangler's Masked Rider and Candy Fountain.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, Jan, my friend!!! This is the slowest I can work without doing nothing (LOL)

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Totally off topic-- But if anyone knows of anyone in or around South Carolina who would like to go in the African Violet business, Gardenangel (on ebay)has the whole business , plants and stands for 500.00. A good deal if anyone is a buyer. Lou
