I will do my best to make whatever date is set. Since I can't predict when and where those silly fires will occurr, I can't pin down any date with certainty. But, if i'm not sent away on a fire, I'll be there.
How about PNW Round-Up?
But 1 Q, where are we going???
I'd be fine with Lynn's house (Buckley) or the Champoeg State Park just south of Portland. The former would be more personal and cozy and less expensive overall, but farther for people coming from points south. The latter would provide more variety of activities (hiking trails) for family members who accompany the die-hard gardener types who are happy in any patch of dirt and possibly more garden and nursery visit options, but farther for those coming from points north. The Sam Hill idea was very interesting, but I personally would like to have the chance to visit gardens/nurseries more in my climate zone.
OOOH, I would love to have everyone here!!! We have a playset for the little ones, and lots of room for all. There are so many nurseries and places to go see here in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area. And Charlie's Greenhouse supply is about an hour or so away, and McConkey's is about 20 minutes. Maybe we could even have our backyard wedding when you guys are all here.
The only expenses would be our nursery trips and food. We have an SUV, and the motorhome we could pile a bunch of us in to go touring.
Shokami2, how are you with potential dates and places to host the event. This was your inspiration so I'd want to make sure you get to have a say as ideas are being put forward. Are you okay? Haven't seen you post since December, but maybe I've missed it..
I'm good with either place. The state park idea is good for all the world class nurseries in the area. Rachel, you forgot to list cistus nursery. It's down the road from Joy creek.
Lynn's house is good, too. Lynn, how far are you from Lakewood (Tacoma)? And did we get dates from Soferdig? He really needs to be there.
I will be in Bellevue and work on the 29th but could easily get to Buckley on the 30th. Even Saturday night for something fun. Mud wrestling or what ever. The 22nd 23 is best for me but I don't care.
O.K. gang it sounds like the 29th and 30th works well for Sofer, Katie, and Mauryhill, Tilly, Pixy, Lynn, RC, Portland and myself. Katye, Thistle, Willow, Jan and anyone else out there does it work for you too? It sounds like Lynn is willing to let us invade her home and garden (Lynn you are one very brave woman!) It would be much less expensive that way but it would mean a longer drive for anyone from Oregon (OR folks how do you feel about that?) There are some great nurseries up this way as well. What does everyone think? Rachel

Right now that sounds good to me. I would love to camp at someones place if there is space availabe, however, given my crazy schedule because the elements of nature and careless people, won't let me commit to anything for certain, I don't want to take up space at anyones place that someone who knows for certain can be there should get. So, I'm sure I'm about as clear as mud. To sum it up..... I'll be there if I can, and if there is a space at someones place great, if not.... I'm very resourceful and will be just dandy where ever I go. I think it's going to be a lot of fun!
Sounds like a plan. Lynn - one last chance to think again . . .
I did d-mail Shokami2, who started this thread, but I have not heard back. I'm a little worried if she is okay. Does anyone else know?
It seems to me that her attendance in the forum is generally cyclical . . .
I got lost, Help!!!!!
Got the day.
Whats the month, need to put it on the Calendar for my Vac. Will have truck and can travel. Will get it next week. Yay.
Just before Labor Day - late August . . .
Got it, will put it in.
Thanks
You're welcome. Yawn . . . should really get to bed.
Me too
Night Night
Hugs
You all have fun! DH will have started back to school then. Sorry. Though, when we do come out, I'll post it, so maybe a few could get together at that time. At this point I have no clue. LOL Sounds like my life - clueless!! Make sure you take pictures. :)
edited to say : Thanks for thinking of me!!!

Roundup? Last weekend in August? Tentatively sounds good...pencil me in as well.
Drat and I was hoping to crash the party :( I will be on the west coast mid August for not for that long. O well may I have a 'party crasher' rain cheque for another PNW gathering please?
sounds good to me too.
Wish you could come, Jan!!
You must come dahlia. Life is too short. Buckley here we come.
Dahlia,
Let us know when you will be in the area, maybe a few of us could meet up with you for coffee and a local nursery tour :0)
Me, too, Katie.
We're going to be coming through WA the weekend of August 8th via I90 to Seattle (go Mariners go) than north to BC. Hoping to hook up with Pooch and Kayte and Sof we'll be passing through Kalispell so hoping to see you if you're home on the way. Sorry but not enough time to extend the trip to OR this time but next trip for sure!
I wish the Mariners would get some "go" in thier game once again. It's been painful watching them the last few years! Would love to meet you dahlia :0)
I'd love to meet you, too, dahlia, when you're hear. Do you talk to Poochella much these days? We haven't heard from her in quite awhile.
I will check my calendar for your visit. You are welcome anytime even if I am not there I will let you know. Steve
So looking forward to my visit. Katie Pooch is one busy lady these days but I'm sure she will be back to catch up soon.
It's good to know things are going okay with her. Thanks for the update.
Katye - if you're going to get together with dnut as some point, can I tag along?
Absolutely - I thought it might be fun to do a Nursery run with lunch depending on how much time she has. So if it's an entire afternoon or an hour, i think we can make it work. I sent Dnut my cell#, and if her trip goes as planned, it will be a fun time!
Pooch is in the uber-busy category, if I remember correctly. I bet we'll see her as soon as the weather turns warmer.
And Jan - YOOOHOOO! JAN! Dittos for when you make it out this way. Time is usually short on vacation, but if you have an hour (make that 2) we can chat over lunch and nursery hop if you like...just keep us posted.
This is one of the reasons I was so pleased with having a PNW calendar: visitors might be able to make use of it. I know that we have all enjoyed meeting other local DG folks, and it's a treat when we are able to meet someone from out of the area.
There's a calendar? Is there a thread please. Because my fam lives in the PNW and I'm back and forth I would like to have that link please.
The calendar is at the top of the PNW forum threads, and it does say 2008.
I haven't checked it recently due to my schedule, so I'm not sure that it's been updated.
=:0 oops!
Thanks Katye. I'm sure it will be updated when there's time. I will check back.
I think someone needs to let Rachel know the date. nothing for that month.
I'm sure Rach will see this now that she's back online. She and Sue (Susybell) had volunteered to maintain it last year.
I'm sure they'd be happy to take volunteers for maintaining it in 2009. Anybody?
I just updated the PNW calendar (the link to it is in the Sticky at the top of the PNW list of threads.) If anyone has dates, times, events to add to the calendar please let me know, I started a new thread for it: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/946916/ or you can post on the "sticky" thread, I'm watching both.
Ooooooh. Pretty. What is it? Thanks, Rach.
OK dahlia I will be in Valdez ak when you will be coming through in aug so you will have to stop and be blessed by my wife Karen. she would be more than excited to have you stay. let us know. steve
