Guess I'm the only one home today! I'll post some more!

This cracked me up. I just dumped a little seed on this baffle and now the finches are using it as a platform feeder. Check out the miss finch at the top.

Very cute. You have a good setup there. BEV

I'm enjoying everyone's great photos!

I don't like this time of year when I leave for work when it's dark and come home when it's dark.. Hopefully I'll see some birds this weekend. I saw a group of long tailed tits at the feeder last weekend, but unfortunately didn't get any photos.

Hi arejay59! Welcome to the Bird Watching forum!

Love the Pileated Woodpecker!

Love the Nuthatch Mrs Ed!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

arejay, we LOVE Pileated Woodpeckers here and welcome!!

Mrs. Ed, where did you get the suet in the red mesh??

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey nanny, that was just at my local grocery store in with the frozen meats. So I thought I'd try it. Only a couple of takers though. Surely not as tasty as the peanut butter ones! I think i'm going to make some home made suet/seed ornaments for Christmas next week. Better get my butt in gear!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I thought of you when I got these pics yesterday of the Tufted Titmouse.

We warmed up today...tho temp is dropping now again it seems...I was able to move the table with my bowl a little. DH that it just a tad too close to the window! But he did try for me, that's what counts. So will see how it works for photos now. I was able to give the platform a complete cleaning today which it really needed. I wnated to do it before bad weather maybe sets in for a while.

I hate to say it, but I think they are so much cuter in their winter colors!

ooo, nanny!!! I'm jealous of that TT!!!

Yah, those goldfinch are cuties.

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm envious here. I don't seem to be getting the birds at my house these days. I have to go to them.

Nice shots everyone.

Hebron, KY

arejay,

Welcome to the Bird Watchers Forum! We love having you here!

Thanks Rose! Good to be back! Hopefully, I'll be here everyday now! :-)

Mrs Ed,

What kind of suet and what's in the suet cake that the Junco and the Downy are feeding on?

What did you add the the cylinder of raw suet in the red bag? How did you get it that shape?

Marilyn

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Marilyn,

The suet in the red is store-bought from my meat department at the grocery store, I didn't make it. If I were going to make a cylinder though, I'd put it in my push up measuring cup.

As a matter of fact, the suet cake is bought too. I think it's Woodpecker blend. They haven't touched the chili pepper one with peanut butter though. I think that they like how this cage just hangs from the tree. I have two attached to the hopper feeder and don't see as many visitors. Their favorite is the peanut butter in the log, but I've taken that down for a while. I think I'll put it back up since I have more Red-bellied action.

Klamath River, CA

Now that winter is here these Calif. Quail aren't as standoffish as they were. It takes them about 15 seconds to come running after I throw out some seed and go back inside.

Thank you everyone.
Arejay welcome to the bird watching thread, looking forward to more of your shots. And the Pileated are a welcome sight.
Mrs Ed, cute little Nuthatch, I'm still have a watchful eye for the Red-Breasted Nuthatch that was here this summer. Only seen him once. That's why I'm putting up more suet feeders.
Nanny I'd like to see one of those Titmouse, they look so sweet.

A Blue Jay yesterday.

burn - What did you stack on top of the suet feeder in yesterday's photo with the downey? It looks like a blue frisbee? Very, very clever. I'd like to try it. Also, love the mourning doves.

Are those purple finches on the baffle, Marna? What an adorable crowd. Love your red-bellied friend.

Stunning pileated, arejay! Wow. And, adel - the quail - my awwwww for the day.

Getting our holiday snow - an inch each hour since 8:00 a.m. I thought I'd have more birds. Interestingly, they all came together - cardinal couple, juncos, chickadees, downey, blue jays.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice Burn! I'm waiting for your Redpolls!

Adel, glad to see the quail back!

No, OP, those are house finches. Chatty little ones!
