I didn't feel like putting shoes on as my feet were still cold from shoveling the walkway.
But, here are three pics that I took just standing from the door today.
What weird weather we're having #7
OH we don't have 4X4 just snow tires on the front wheel drive Chrysler. It wasn't that bad on the roads. That load of snow on your picnic table is amazing. Beautiful where you live.
Oh, sorry Willow. Guess that I was remembering from someone else's post. Fortunately, I'm just house sitting up here for about a month. Which I think will also happen to be either the snowiest or coldest month in a long time. I don't like being stuck up here until the plow goes by---if it goes by!!! I do get snow but genereally no more than about 6" before it turns to ice. But, It does make for pretty pictures when the sun comes out, which I'm hoping will be soon!
Redchic I couldn't resist thinking of the movie "The Shining" after your comment, "Fortunately, I'm just house sitting up here for about a month. Which I think will also happen to be either the snowiest or coldest month in a long time. I don't like being stuck up here until the plow goes by---if it goes by!!!".
Don't watch it while your house sitting however! LOL
Here is our snow.
lol, that was pretty good Thistle! I would've never of thought of that! I have seen 'the shining' but it was quite a long time ago, and now I'm definitely curious to see it again. The good thing is that, even after cleaning the snow off of the dish, I still don't have tv. So, even if it were on, I couldn't watch it. And since I can't get out of the driveway, I can't get down to town to rent it!! So, I must not be ment to scare myself half to death! Are you stuck in too with all of your snow? That's quite a bit, especially for zone 8!
thistle.. is that a green house they have on the right there? is it heated... that would be a fun place to hang out if it was!
great snow pics all....jsut beautiful.
loved the video from earlier.. they looked like they were having so much fun!!
well its only 37* right now but we had just a smattering of snow last night but it was very wet and just splatted on the car window. nothing stuck though.. we had some good cloud bursts of rain/hail off and on all day today and last night too. got hit with a few good wind gusts too last night... waiting for the house to start spinning around! lol
like the brussel sprout snowman beahive!
enjoy another pic of shore acres...HO HO HO!!!
Great pictures everyone!!!
Sally, thanks for checking on the pup. He's a sighthond, like mine are and they are a challenge to train. They're smart, but not very motivated to follow commands - you have to keep them interested without stressing them so they shut down. I came back into the kitchen tonight to see my little sighthound with her nose in the sour cream container and sour cream all over her nose. Counter surfers, they are.
Portland, it sounds like you have a very neat and interesting crew.
Bea, your daughters are beautiful - what a great surprise to have your oldest home before the storms hit.
Jan, I hope yours get home before the storms start. We're expecting more storms here, too.
Had an exciting day here. The main road are okay, but the side roads can be pretty nasty. I slid backwards very fast down my road today and off the side of the road. I really thought I might roll the car. My neighbor, bless his heart, pulled me out with his truck. It was very complicated, as the edge of the road drops off and the car was canted way to the left (I had to crawl up to get out the passenger side door).
There's a big storm coming this way tomorrow - maybe with hurricane force winds. I just hope we don't lose power. I thing, thoughl, that I'm stuck in for the weekend. My outings will be to walk to the neighbors and chat. We should all be pretty close to home.

Urgent - Weather Message National Weather Service Seattle WA 1120 AM PST Fri Dec 19 2008
East Puget Sound Lowlands- 1120 AM PST Fri Dec 19 2008
... High Wind Warning In Effect From 9 AM Saturday To 4 PM PST Sunday...
The National Weather Service In Seattle Has Issued A High Wind Warning... Which Is In Effect From 9 AM Saturday To 4 PM PST Sunday. This Warning Upgrades The High Wind Watch Which Had Been In Effect.
Strong Winds Will Develop Over The East Puget Sound Lowlands On Saturday Morning And Intensify On Saturday Afternoon. This Wind Event Will Peak On Saturday Night And Then Subside On Sunday.
At The Height Of This Event... Sustained Winds Could Reach 50 To 70 Mph With Peak Gusts Of 70 To 90 Mph. The Strongest Winds Are Expected To Impact Communities In Eastern King County Such As North Bend... Maple Valley And Enumclaw. However... Strong Winds Could Extend All The Way West To Near Lake Washington And The Highway 167 Corridor. Along The I-405 And Highway 167 Corridors... Winds Of 30 To 40 Mph With Gusts To 60 Mph Are Possible.
This Event Could Rival A Similar Foothills Wind Storm From Early December 2003. During That Event... Numerous Trees Were Blown Over... Blocking Residential Streets And Major Highways Alike. Power Was Knocked Out To Many Residences And Businesses For As Much As A Week. People Need To Prepare Now For Major Disruption Resulting From This Windstorm. Be Sure To Have Enough Supplies On Hand To Last For Several Days Should You Be Stranded At Home. By Late Saturday Morning... It May Be Too Late To Prepare.
In Addition... Wind Chill Readings During This Event May Be Near Zero With Air Temperatures In The Mid To Upper 20s. Consider Safe Ways To Keep Your Family Warm If Your Power Is Knocked Out For A Prolonged Period.
A High Wind Warning Means That A Severe High Wind Event Is Imminent Or Occurring. Sustained Winds Of At Least 50 Mph... Or Gusts Of 75 Mph Or Higher Will Occur Across The Lowlands. Residents And Local Officials In The Warned Area Should Be Prepared For Widespread Damage And Power Outages That Could Last For More Than A Week
beahive...love the snowman and your daughters are beautiful, look like they were having fun in spite of the cold.
shokami2...that tub was one of my favorites, careful with those winds.
rc....a little cabin fever going on there? Sounds like my DH, we had snow this morning but it was melting off by noon, so we made another trip to town. Needed to mail another package. The snow at that place is incredible, you gonna make it for a whole month? But then you did say you could take the dog home with you. I wouldn't like not being able to get out, but wouldn't mind not going out.
katie59...that forcast just sounds nasty. Hope you can just sit this one out. Hot chocolate, warm afghan, and a good book would work for me.
This is puny compared to everyone else, so I'll just enjoy it.
Yikes! How scary to slide backwards and practically into a ravine.
I hadn't heard about the wind, as I have not been listening to radio or TV today.
I bet that ride got your heart pumping good. Would have mine.
Sally, that's not puny snow at all. If you ask me, it's just the right amount of snow. Not too much, but just enough to give stuff that pretty snow dusted look. Yours is much prettier than mine! Yes, I have cabin Fever!! It doesn't take much for me. All it takes is the thought of not being able to leave if I should need to and I get very anxious!! That's part of why i have a chainsaw, just in case a tree should come down across the rd.... I can cut it and go about my day! I was really looking forward to going over to my place today and getting some stuff done there, checking in on my cats (even though they have folks with them), checking on Itsa, wanted to cover a few more plants (better late then never). So, it just seems like a wasted day! but, I guess that it was good that I spent the day with shadow. I'm sure he appreciated that.
That a great pic Tilly!! Glad that was not me. I lived in Corvallis when that storm hit all of us, so I didn't have nearly as much as I do now. However, Corvallis was hit pretty well by the flood when it melted. Is that white chow in the picture? or part chow? He's super cute and fluffy!
Has anyone heard what is supposed to happen to all this snow?? I'd love it if it were to warm up, but there could be some not so good consequences if it warms up too fast. I've seen the 10 forcast, so far it looks like we'll start to unthaw at a reasonable pace. But, I haven't seen a longer than 10 day forecast.
Yeah, I might take Shadow down to my place, The neighbors and I are going to try to plow this driveway tomorrow morning since I'm supposed to be at work (fortunately its one of the jobs that I've been at for years) tomorrow, we'll see how it goes. So, If I can get out and to work and back up here to get the dog, I'll see how it goes from there. I hesitate to take him to my place for just one reason, I'm not positive that he couldn't clear the fence on the kennel if he really wanted to. Seeing any cat would really make him want to. It's 4'8'' tall. I know he could've jumped it when younger, I'm not sure if he can do it now. So far the power has stayed on up here which has been why i've been sticking it out up here. If it goes out, there's not a second thought of where Shadow and I will be-----as soon as I can plow the driveway :-p
Katie, I'm sooooo glad that you made it through that all right! That would've been really scary. Thank goodness for nice neighbors! One of the upsides to living a little ways out from the towns is it seems that neighbors are better about helping other neighbors. In big towns, you never know if you can trust the person who says that they're trying to help you. How is your vehicle? Did it come out of it without dings and dents?
I love the way snow makes everything look beautiful, so soft and clean. Yesterday before the snow started I got out to fill the feeders and when I came in the feeders were full. Not with what I expected. First I've seen of these guys this year.
Had to take this through the window.

Crazy about the vehicle. There isn't a mark on it. I was going to wait until tomorrow to look because I didn't want to be depressed. But I peeked and it looked fine!!!
I tend to get really robotic during emergencies and then panic later. In this case it was good because I didn't panic until after everything was okay. And I panic a lot less when I'm not trying to fix things alone. I was totally quiet while trying to steer out. It wasn't until after the car came to a stop that I unleashed a very loud set of expletives (well, just one expletive over and over, really).
Nice picture, Sally.
It sounds like you may get a lot of the snow, Mary. Get out and get your supplies early!! Costco was absolutely packed today.
Thank you ladies for all your concern. It's so nice to come here and get a little pat . . . wine (and walking up and down the hill and digging in the snow at 25 degrees) is making me drowsy, so I'm off to bed. Sleep tight, all.
That's a great picture Tricia! Especially taken from your car!
Bea, I love the snow Buddha.
Katie, the news said 4 to 12” here Sat. night.
Red, I think it’s supposed to warm up and rain Tues thru Fri, which is good because we have to drive up to Port Angeles and back during that period, but, that could start some flooding, and then back to cold weather by Sat., that’s what could really suck.
Good grief. Is that supposed to be the last of the storms? I sure hope so!
Have a safe trip Zhinu, hopefully it is a good one. hopefully it's just a little warming and only minor run off with it. We just have to hope for normal temps---possibly like what's expected next week, and not heat waves. I think, anyhow. The reservoirs were pretty low before all of this, so maybe they'll be able to take the brunt of it before much affect is noticed.
I just want the roads to be good, I don't really care if the snow melted.
Stay safe on those roads. The weather should realize it's Christmas for crying out loud!
Went to a potluck last night. Yummy food, everyone was talking about the weather of course and worried about going to Portland to pick up relatives at the airport. Then someone brought up the idea that the stores might put on really good sales as soon as the weather breaks.....I don't know if they can change things that quickly...but who knows. It was a great dinner, we have some really good cooks living here and got to catch up since hardly anyone has been outside the last week.
We had another good thing yesterday. Comcast (ourTV cable) is changing some of their channels to digital in February (different than the national one) and they're offering adapters for free. Yesterday they sent a big truck and half a dozen techs to install them on all the TV's that don't have digital. We have one on digital but the other three don't because we don't want to pay extra, we only pay $1 a month for the one ( it was a special deal) and it's $6.99 a piece after that. You could pick up your box at the office, which we did, but now they would install them. So I figured one less thing for me to do and said "send 'em over" They did ours and one at mom's, so now we're all set. I guess because we've got 99 units here and we're 55 and over it was easier to set it up this way. One time being 'older' pays off! Of course why they had to this is beyond me, except they wanted to know if you would like internet, phone, etc. And since you had to have one digital box already they must have sold a few. Our TV is paid by our dues unless you get extra. Anyway if they hadn't done that, I would have been getting calls to ask me to install them. I usually reprogram about 20 TV's when they change things or there's a power outage. So they don't know how much work they saved me.
Cold and wet here this morning, just patchy snow left.
Stay warm and safe everyone.
Haven't seen any of the high winds predicted. Anyone else? I wish we'd hear from Poochella. She lives in North Bend, right on the I-90 corridor. I'd guess that the winds will be horrendous at her place.
My neighbors made it up the road this morning. Now I'm wondering why I couldn't get any traction. Maybe because it was after dark?
hey all.. i started a thread about a round up let me know what you think! i think it would be fun :)

Great pictures everyone. Love Santa in the tub.
No wind here, doesn't sound like we will get much, mostly to the east foothills. Hope everyone is hunkered down and safe.
No wind, just snow and more snow.....wish they would close early so Husband and Son could get home...I am not looking forward to picking them up at 9 P.M.....if I can get the car out...they may have to walk or take the bus.
It's really coming down out here. I heard it may be as much as 18" additional inches tonight.
Trisha, The bus could be a good option, if you can reach them with that plan. Even if you can drive in it reasonably, you could meet up on the road with someone else who isn't able to manage their vehicle very well.
There is a foot of snow here and it is 22 degrees. More snow is expected through tonight. I went out to the market and even my 4 wheel drive had trouble. By the time I came out of the market all the doors on my car were frozen shut. After finally getting the driver's door open I had to crawl around in the car to get the groceries in. Then when I got home I had to do the same thing to get the stuff out. Abandoned cars are everywhere. The Amtrak trains are stuck because the tracks are frozen. The good news for me is that I finished Christmas shopping this morning! Yeah! Now I can relax tomorrow and make homemade marshmallows, which I have never done.
I hope everyone's families are safe and warm.
rc - has the plow visited you yet?
All of our snow is gone here. Rained all day and still at it. Don't expect more snow until Monday.
rc is higher than me, so she could still be in it.
Another exciting night. Our local volunteer fire department came through wishing everyone Merry Christmas and passing out candy canes. They helped save my DH's life 7 years ago, so they always stop by our house to see how he's doing. What he was doing was getting soaked, standing outside til they passed. Picture is awful, couldn't find the night shot on my camera, plus everything was moving. They were supposed to come last Wednesday, but that was a bad ice day and they were busy elsewhere.
Stay safe.

Our local fire department usually put lights on a truck and drives around playing holiday music, but I think they haven't been out this year due to the snow.
Hey All, It is snowing really good here, hard to tell old from new. but in 1 hour I have 1 1/2" on my car that was dry. And its coming down hard, but no wind. Thank goodness, hate for those Alders to snap, could be ugly.
Kathy, where you driving the truck?
mauryhill.....I wouldn't doubt it up there. They're probably busy like ours was, with accidents and such. I've seen the pictures on the news, it looks just awful. Keeping good thoughts for no damage or injuries.
About an hour ago we had 10", 5" new (I measured undisturbed and where the step had been cleared yesterday) and it's still snowing heavily, it's a little above 20 degrees (I didn't want to slog through the snow to get close enough to see clearly), no winds to speak of thankfully. I don't know what the roads are like; ask mom, but the street out front is scary and I might try to shovel a bit off the driveway before DH gets home. I'm worried about DH getting home alright, he's still at work, though they closed at 8pm, he still has to do closing. I also asked him to stop by the store and pick up a few things so Sage and I could do Christmas baking tomorrow. I'd like to get Sage a few more presents, but I have something for everyone.
I wonder if the Scottlake fire Dept. still has my baby picture. Mom had me at home and they had to come out due to possible complications and they asked for my photo.
Wasn't too bad out....the few cars were being sane....greyhound stuck in the middle of the main street....the ploughs are out on the main streets, but not running with blades down.....??? Happy to be home and don't plan on going out agian until conditions are much better.
Not good here, have over 5" and still coming down hard, have power but lost my well pump, we have no water. DH has got it to work enough to fill the tubs.
