The cable guy and I are going 'round and 'round

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Part of hurricane Ike aftermath in my property was that the Comcast Cable high wire fell from the pole to the ground. That was 13 weeks ago, a gillion calls ago, and 6 cable crews ago who, after looking at the wire, tell me that is not their job and they will put in a service call for the correct crew. I'm still waiting. They have a local office but it is staffed by a solitary customer service rep who seems as bewildered as I am. This whole nightmare reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine is blacklisted because she dared complain to her doctor about something or other.

The wire is a hazard. If my lawn is a mere 1" overgrown, it conceals the wire and we could easily shred it with our mower. I don't know how dangerous it is to touch it, but that is what we have to do every time we mow. Move it to one side, then move it again to the other side so we can mow.

If anybody has any advise on an effective way to get these people's attention, I will be forever grateful. Do you have a cousin that works at Comcast who could give me the number of somebody who will do something about this? I am completely puzzled by the breakdown in communication and service. I do have cable but the connector justs sits on the ground.

Comcastic my foot!

Touching the cable wire won't hurt you at all. I don't have any advice about getting attention from the cable people, though, or any idea why no one wants to put it back up.

Post what you just said here: http://twitter.com/comcastcares Maybe you'll get some attention then.

Maybe contact a local TV station or newspaper??

marylyn you have dmail.

nanny, I've had fantasies about seeking the local channel consumer advocate against Comcast, but with all the people that still have no house, no repairs, or even a tentative date for such events, it seems mighty frivolous. Besides, I don't think I would like my fat face shown on TV, lol.

pls keep suggestions coming. I'm desperate, lol.

Just wanted to close the loop on this one. I followed Marylyn_TX suggestion and contacted http://twitter.com/comcastcares and within 48 hrs the crew was at our house re-installing the high wire. Marylyn comes to my rescue so often, thank you, Mar.

Here's the guy after 13 weeks of me trying to get this resolved on my own. I bet I still would be pleading w/ those guys, had it not been for my techno-angel, Marylyn. As a matter of fact, I know I'd still be waiting. After the crew was finished, we showed them the neighbor's fallen wire and their response was: don't have a work order for it. We gave the link to our neighbor but don't see any progress over there.
