Awesome find. Why would Rob open up a new site, I wonder. Going to go study it. Thanks.

edited to say I realize now it is not rob's site. His name just happened to be up for hybridizers. I love the Ness' and the vintage ones.

It's Fay Wagman's site and she has a boatload. I know she is fond of minis and semininis. I saw her at the maavs show and sale. Sweet lady. I've never ordered from her website and wondered if anyone on DG has?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

What a wonderful selection, you are right! Almost makes me want to grow african violets again. I have always heard wonderful nice things about her as a person.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Someone else will have to answer you. I don't think we can plug our own anything with plants...........but I have been wrong before.........

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Great site!! You can bet I will be ordering from there come spring. M3-- Gail is right about us not being able to promote other sites here. check out #9 here:

Gail, I would be more than happy to send you some AV leaves if you want. Its too cold now, but if you let me know when warmer weather hits, I will donate to the cause!! LOLOL

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the offer, but I am really out of space until our February show is over. I did keep one big permanest tray full of av leaves stuck and now they have babies.............

Well let me see.... I agree that the best sized plants I have ever gotten were from Brennan's Orchids... Also very nice to ask questions and will help if they can.... I buy off ebay allot ... I have used Kathy's Streps, The Garden Angel, Violets 4 You, Sally's Garden.... Helen from Violets 4 You and The Garden angel have been very good to me in help and extra plants. Those are a few... There are one or two more but can't think of them....
Hugs,
Susan

I have gotten great plants from Bluebird Greenhouses and the Violet Barn.

I made an order from Violet Venture a week and a half prior to MAAVS. By the time the following Friday came along (that's when Fay said she'd start packing boxes), weather took a downturn. She's been waiting for a warm spell in NY, 'cause she doesn't ship w/heat packs. I got an email on Saturday, saying that the package would be mailed on Monday (yesterday). Now I'm paranoid, 'cause everything between here and there is under 32 (at least it was yesterday).

I'll let you know how everything survives the trip, if you want.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Syrumani - Please do let us know how your package arrives and if you like the quality, etc. Does she sell plants also? Did you order leaves?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Gail had convinced me that I had enough leaves, so I ordered the "surprise" pack of 8 plants.

(ok, and 6 leaves! shh!)

I'll post once the box gets here.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

This is the main thing I hate about this time of year-- too yucky to go outside--and I spend all my time "shopping" and no one can/will ship. Which after my last box of av popsicles is a good thing--Spring seems SOO far away! I am jonesing for some new plants!!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

In the last 2 weeks, I've gotten 2 boxes with heat packs used--They came through fine.I pick up my mail at the post office, which might help. In the past, I have winter ordered from Rob's quite successfully. It helps chase away the winter blues! ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Well, at least you have a side project to keep you busy for at least 21 days!!!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Starting on #4 tomorrow^_^
Edited to add-- my box on Sat had a heat pack--but it took so long to get here it was cold. Also the vendor just stuck the heat pack to the box with a little piece of polyester between it and the plants--no insulation--so they probably cooked--than froze:(

Processing or testing? I can't start "processing" until Friday.

This message was edited Dec 16, 2008 6:33 PM

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Processing-- testing batch 1 now-- batch 2 is ready 12-19, batch 3-- 12-21. Have to be sure it is ok to give as a gift;)

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I admire the inconvenience you are putting yourself thru, all to ensure customer satisfaction! LOL!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Good..let us know what the suprises are and I won't tell a soul about the leaves.

Yes, spring is so far away...what to do? I ordered some supplies and fertilizer. Why?

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Why?cuz sooner or later it WILL be spring^_^

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

That's a good answer!! I've got to ready, right?

I was watching the weather channel for a while today and so much of the country is bitter cold and snowing. A positive thought...in a week the days will be getting longer.

After the first of the year, it'll be fun to see what Rob has for new intro plants.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

The order from Violet Venture got here yesterday. The leaves made it thru fine, only one plant had a leaf broken off (a few others were almost there), and only 3 plants had any cold damage. But, I think with some trimming and TLC, they'll be ok.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

That is good to hear! We had thunder snow up here yesterday....luckily your plants were headed south by then!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

What did you get?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Oh, well, since you asked! I got . . .
Plants
White Dew
High Jinx
Angel Halo
Rob's Dandy Lion
Morgan's Pu Y
Cool Blue
Rainbow's Bantam Glitter
Mac's Shangri La Serendipity

Leaves
Spootnik
Tiny Moon Goddess
Baby Moonbeam
Snuggle Bear (extra)

you gotta a heck of a haul,almost like christmas?hmmmm I wonder

JIM

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Wow! I had a leaf of Cool Blue gifted to me by a friend on another forum, but I think it tanked( I'm not sure)--She sent me ton's of beautiful plugs and leaves in Oct. as a surprise. I have and love Tiny Moon Godess and Baby Moonbeam . You have a nice collection there! And they don't look the worse for wear.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

They do look better now that they had a drink of water and spent the night under a dome. Here is a close-up of Rob's Dandy Lion . . . he caught some cold on the way, it looks like.
