JIM
Dec OT Blooms
Never saw a morning glory like that before!
It is a perennial-- when I move it this spring-- I can send you cuttings if you want--jlmk
Morning glories are annuals here--but I would still like a cutting--It can be the exchange for the columnea cutting!
Can do!!! I have you down Phoebe. I have it inside--don't think it would live outdoors- but it doesn't get leggy inside like the other Mg's. When I take it out I will definately have to cut it out of the fan (it is blooming inside the fan too) so will have cuttings to share. I need to take my paintbrush and tickle it to see if I can get some seeds to set.
cool!
That is one awesome looking morning glory and I notice the botanical name is different also...........
I noticed that also http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/142358/
Gran, that is an AWESOME Strictocardia! You really need to upload your picture to Plant Files! The S. tiliifolia has no photo's yet!
Here's another similar one: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/168689/
I've never grown the Strictocardia, they grow outdoors in the southern part of Florida but would probably not survive the winters in my area of the state. The blooms sure are pretty!
i have a mini orchid also that will be blooming soon, can't wait.
bonnie
t will be fun to see what your flowers are! Yours has more leaves than any of mine--bet you get more spikes. We should know in a few weeks.
can't wait.lol

Oh my goodness ... Gran, what Wonderful Orchids! That first Catt is really pretty but I really Love the one in the third photo and the next to last one with that variegated foliage! Absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe those prices! $9 for a blooming plant and $6 for non-blooming?! Amazing! I have about 2 dozen orchids, most of mine came from the clearance racks at Wal-Mart and some I rec'd in a trade here on DG. Down here in humid Florida we can just hang them in the trees and let them do their thing!
College of the Ozarks? Is that in the Branson, Mo area? I've never been to that area but have had the chance a few times. My husband teaches at a local University here and our Basketball Team has been out there to tournaments a few times. Next time I am going to make a point to go! I can hear him now when I tell him about them having greenhouses and plants for sale! LOL, well ... maybe I won't tell him! We are big Basketball fans and go to all of our home games and try to travel to a few away games when he is not teaching and we are able to afford it. I can see me going there for games and just "finding" greenhouses on campus and buying plants to ship home!
I have two orchids blooming right now. Will take my camera out to the backyard and see if I can get a picture in the dark!
Yes it is in Hollister Mo, just down the road from Branson-- if you come out-- give me a yell-- we can do lunch at C of O and tour the greenhouses. (they have a great museum too)
Hope you did a lot of inhaling! Beautiful!
I saw one similar to that while there-- there were so many-- there were climbing orchids, hanging orchids ginormis orchids--I just posted a few of the pics I took. Your plants are gorgeous-- how awesome to be able to grow them in the yard!! I keep my GH too cool and they just fade away for me
Thanks for the link to Gran's Hawaiian morning glory. That is just on my way to Mexico.....yeah, another nursery.
Lin the Christmas Cactus is pretty. Mine had one bloom so far so am hoping for more.
Thanks Makshi. Mine stay out on my back deck all year, mixed in with tons of other plants. I never even think about them until I see those buds and beautiful blooms each winter! I brought two of them inside a couple of weeks ago when I noticed blooms! I have always heard these should be treated like Poinsettias and not given any light for quite a few hours at night. Some even say dim night lights will keep them from blooming ... I don't find that the case at all. There's a little lantern out on the back deck on a timer that comes on at dusk and off at daylight and it hasn't seemed to affect the blooming of these plants one bit. They are all in bud and bloom. I never remember to fertilize much during the summer and these do get very, very dry between watering.
