It's a pink jasmine my dear friends....delicious scent!!!

Parte Cuatro: Breathe deep & tell us what smells wonderful..
Hmmmm, sounds intriguing. I'd have to keep it in a well-behaved place for a vine, though. I like that it is winter blooming. If you get a chance to gather seeds, please set some aside for me! I like that it is pink.....so many others are white and a few yellow.
Yes, I love it that it blooms when nothing else is! We actually call it winter jasmine over here. I will definitely send you seeds if I get any! (of if you can propagate, I'm happy to send you cuttings too)...
All this nice balmy weather we've been having...made me want to play in dirt sooooo....potted up my Maid of Orleans also my day blooming jasmine (since it was looking SOOOO sad) and my regular orange jasmine - that dirt just wasn't looking "right"...so I gave her new dirt and a bigger pot. They decided might as well torture the kids by watering everything with the fish/kelp combo...oh yeah....delightful fragrance...speaking of which...
Was watering and thought...alrighty what's blooming - SOMETHING smells delightful and it wasn't the Tea Olive that is STILL with bloom either...this one had more of that wafting scent I love....Well guess what I FOUND?!?!? Please ignore the perpetual dust...ugh
Yes...that would be the Orange Jasmine 'Lakeview' that ya'll hear me going on and on about. I simply adore this little plant...cant' say enough good things about it and LOVE, love, LOVE the scent of her blooms!!!! IF you don't have one - you must get one....ahhhhh
My sarcococca has buds so I'm expecting a show soon. One of my 4 plants is very chlorotic looking while the other 3 they're all together) are dark green and lush. I would hate to lose it but don't know what to do.
I will have to google orange jas.
Ohhh the sarcococca - I always miss that if it does anything...will have to venture into the back yard and check those little girls out!!
We FINALLY got some rain this weekend. Gotta tell ya....NOTHING smells better than a humid garden! Gosh how I missed that! (remember, I live in the desert!)
Rob - I forget that some of San Diego is desert, since there are so many beaches, and I lived near the water
Yes...we are near the water, but it only rains two months out of 12, lol!
Roberta - I just can't muster up feeling sorry for you - San Diego for goodness sake!!! Remember my sis was born in Coronado - I remember it a little....
Yeah, I feel your pain...really....UGH!!!
K, I really had to look to find this thread! Check out my trip to Massee Lane Gardens for the Camellias. Sadly, I didn't get to smell all the fragrant ones after several nights below 20 degrees, but I sure did enjoy the ones I DID smell! I did get 'Fragrant Pink' and another one--after posting all the photos for my friends, I'm confused, DUH!

Comments/questions
1) Is Kramer's Beauty the same as Kramer's Supreme? I have KS
2) Pink Perfection is very popular in my area but hard to find. I want it
3) The camelia trees were gorgeous
4) Have you heard of Purple Dawn? OMG, just beautiful, another highly coveted, hard to find in my area
thanks for sharing Vi
Thanks guys, I can't wait to go back--acres of Camellias and the scent of Dapne all over! Truely a photographers dream :>} It's nice to help PlantFiles out--so many plants are missing, wish the freeze hadn't been so long.
Kramer's Beauty is HUGE and a different variety--it was not wafting tho--I kept telling everyone in the GH to sniff it, lol. Apparently they must be fragrant only with the pollen intact or something-some had no scent, others were dreamy.
I took the photo of Pink Perfection for a friend that wants it also. Only found it here: http://stores.homestead.com/ecolage/Detail.bok?no=342
Just wait till my second trip for more, lol.
This Purple Dawn? http://almostedenplants.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.asp?Search=Yes
Don't know if it was there, we searched out the pretty blooms.
your link doesn't take you to the plant, so enter Purple Dawn in the search box. But yes, that's the one. It is a hot pink and blue tinges, OMG, it is awesome!
K, just ran out in the rain to remember the other one I got--'Cinnamon Cindy' the folks at the sale were saying that she was VERY fragrant. Mine has buds but no blooms yet.
My 'Fragrant Pink' however is loaded and when a tree does waft--they must like them at Massee Lane becaus they are all over the gardens.
The most interesting discovery was the plant 'Camellia lutchuensis'
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/181890/ which is the stock from which the fragrant varieties came, Dr. Ackerman uses it for his crosses and comes to Massee quite often they say. The bloom is so delicate!
Here's my 'Fragrant Pink'!
oh well, it's cheap!
what is cheap, the Purple Dawn? the one from your catalog is but in my area you can't get buy w/o dropping $50-60 for a 2 gal.
Fragrant Pink is beautiful.
$9.99 for a 4" pot of Purple Dawn.
My 3 gallons form Massee Lane were $24 and NO shipping charges thank goodness--they were my early Valentine gifts :)
