I definitely agree about being productive at night. THere's nobody else around to bother me. That's a really nice thing that you're doing for your MIL. I sure hope that it works out for the both of you. It wil be interesting to have more of the family here. What did she think of it when she was on here before?
What weird weather we're having #5
I don't think she was on enough to have an opinion. She posted on the welcome mat and a post about getting rid of snakes, she hates them and her yard really was over run, but that's it. last time we were up there I got on her computer to show people pictures off of DG and I don't think I'd be on much if I had her computer. We just got a brand new desktop and we have a lap top. Sage wants the old computer, but she really doesn't need it, so it just made sense. It also gives her a great present and saves us a bit of money.
DH's step-father is really sick. He's had severe diabetes for as long as I've known him and some other health problems, he hasn't been able to really leave his house in the time I've been with DH, but he just got diagnosis with Level 3 kidney failure. It's likely he won't be here next year. He wants to do Christmas Day so we're going up there for Christmas. It's a headache, and putting me a bit off kilter, Christmas Day with my mom's family has been one of the few constants in my life, but under the circumstances I'm happy to go up there.
The reason I brought that up is to explain why MIL needs the computer and why I hope she does get on here; she really needs the support that DG can give her if we can just get her addicted like the rest of us.
Well, we can always use more addicts like the rest of us. that's unfortunate to hear of your DH step-father. Hopefully things we go as best as possible. It's nice that you're going there for his sake. where is "there"? Hopefuly DG will be a good diversion for your MIL. If she is even remotely interested in gardening, she could occupy as much of her time as she wants to here.
There is Port Angeles, not a drive I'm looking forward to doing Christmas eve. She's really a lot like my mom, they could have at least been sisters.
Well, at least she is someone that you can get along with then . That's good. Speaking of snakes, and I'm not at all a fan of them either, I was just watching some of the movie Anaconda while I'm doing stuff around here. Normally not a move that I would watch, but the tv where I'm staying at has only a few channels and Anaconda is the only thing on. That movie just creeps me out. Never, ever watch it if you have an aversion to snakes.
I have a weird relationship with snakes. I garter snake slithering near me almost caused me to fall down a hill, but I don't mind things like pet Boas. I think it's that I don't like being startled, or at least not knowing where they are. I remember being really small and having my brother tell me to freeze because there was a snake near by and then walking me out away from it, but I also remember a friend of mom's bring in a Boa that probably weighed more than I did and letting me play with it. My biggest problem with pet snakes is that I like rats far more than I like snakes and I can't stand to watch a snake eat a "pet" rat. I had several pet rats when I was in middle school. If they didn't have a tendency to die of cancer I might still have some. We had to put down both of the ones we brought up here due to cancer and that was hard to do.
Ikes. Well, you can have the snakes, pets or not. :-p I will tolerate it if there's maybe snake handlers in the same room as I am, other than that... I don't want to have a thing to do with them! Nope, nope, nope!
check it out.... snow in Louisianna. that's weather. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/931724/
That's weird. I don't want a pet snake at all, but they don't actually bother me, except when they eat. That's what I was trying to say.
Snakes - not a problem so much, but spiders, on the other hand - (shivering as I write). But, I am fascinated by their webs and how they catch and wrap their prey.
We had rain and lots of it in this area. Some localized flooding. But north of here was freezing rain and ice and sonow. I'll keep checking in on your weather.
So sorry, Laura to hear about your DSFIL. Enjoy your time this holiday. I'm sure your MIL will become addicted to DG. We are such enablers here. LOL
I know it's a bit weird, but I love spiders. I won't have them in the house, and anyways the cats would eat them, but I have no problem picking them up on my hand and moving them outdoors.
