Are we allowed to use graphic emoticons (other than the DG smiley face) and avatars on the dicussion threads?

You can make the alt key smilies. No other kinds of emoticon or avatars will work.

Thank you.I can make the other types work,with copying and pasting,but I didn't know if they were allowed.Once in awhile I see one of the other Smileys on a thread,but not very often.I couldn't find any info on the acceptable policys page.

I didn't think you could even get those kind of things to work in the forums here. There might not be anything official about them in the rules, but I know that Dave has tried to keep DG free of a lot of the flashy junk that clutters up a lot of other forums so if a lot of people started using them here I think it would probably be discouraged.

The animated gif files that work on a lot of forums will not work in here. I suppose you could load them as images, but they won't be animated. You can't pepper your text with them, though.

Thank you all.It sounds as if it would be better for me not to start anything that could get out of hand and create a lot of problems.
