As you come fully down the drive, this is what you see looking straight ahead. That was my horse barn, now a workshop, tool shed, and my GH. And my bros home. And more junk.LOL
To the right of the flag is Purple Haze. Or as Laurie calls it Purple Place. We'll get to it later.
Tilly's Little Acre
Your furry friends clearly love the wild areas in the woods and by the stream. How nice to be able to go an adventure in your own back yard. And the cats appreciate the places to perch and view the world that the pilings provide. Miss Sassy looks like the queen of the woodland on her throne! Is the Purple Haze Place where you have all those purple bloomers...I'm remembering a fabulous Clematis? You are going to have so many great places to bring your living right into the garden with the gazebo to watch the rain under when you have the clear roof on it, and the picnic area to gather in with friends, and the Gypsy camp to relax in the shade on a hot day. The barn/workshop/greenhouse looks good too. I'd like to see more of your greenhouse....need to get ideas for when I might have something like that for starting my own plants in.
I'll have to get out and take some pictures of my 'junk' so we can commiserate.
GET YOUR BROTHER OUT THERE RAKING LEAVES!!!! All that good leaf mulch going uncollected - right now I am obsessed with leaf mulch - I've been clearing the roadways, my neighbours just shake their heads "poor obsessed woman" and drive by.
Rotflol..... at least if it is an obsession, you know that you're not in it alone with all of us here.
why do you think I'm here? normalizing.
Therapy maybe??? Ok sorry, I guess that might be me :-p But, I like your terminology better!! lol
Definately Therapeutic.
LOL to funny, no worry Laurie, they have been collected and mulched by the mower and put to work. Some I leave where they fall on the flower beds, helps protect them over winter.
Holly you are to kind, haven't got to the good stuff (junk) yet. And yes Sassy is the Queen of the yard and puter room. Purple Place is where all the purple flowers are and the Clematis.
Just pass the GH, to the right will be. Some day my nursery grounds. the GH will be expanded.
Behind the red truck are 2 more cars, and the old house. Which we can't use for anything, the floor has rotted do to a leak in the roof we did not know about till to late. Behind the 2 blue cars, is the pump house and way back there by the tree is a old tractor. This all will be the nursery and more gardens.
Okay, that was most of the front. A little side venure before we head to the back.
The GH
Holly its not much, Its more of a cold frame than a GH has no heat. But it works. And was made with mosly junk, the only thing that was bought was the plastic panels. The window in front and one in back, came from the house (as the one in the barn) We had to replace 3 windows years ago after a tree mess them up some. The sliding glass door, which is solid wood. Came from a Free pile down the road, That was a funny trip. Put it on top of the car, I drove my DH and Bro was walking on each side of the car to keep it from falling off. Lucky it was only a quarter mile to the house. The frame was made from a old dog run, I had built many years ago when I had my Samys.
This is a shot of the area, where the GH will be expanded. This is where my dog runs use to be, the dog houses are still there under the blackberrys. The tree in the center will be taken down, as it shades the spot to much. Also under the tree are stacks of tires. Blackberrys are great to hide things LOL
Now lets go to the back, Thu Purple place.
This is the front entrance.
This area had to be built up, when the new house was put in to cover the septic pipes. Had to be raised 3', I did it all by hand with help from my son. I have a Vine leaf Maple tree, a Juniper topiary that has lost its topiary form LOL and a Bird nest Spruce also is a Native fern. In the background is a Boxwood I have trained in to a small tree. On the right is a Lilac and a Flame bush. Of course Esters pool.
Love your greenhouse. It has given me an idea for one for myself. Oh so much opportunity you have. I'm jealous, I have no space.
Native huckleberry and ocean spray would be a good hedge along the road area.
Hi willow, I have some Ocean Spray, that is wild but only in one area. I wonder is it has to do with Artisan wells? on one side of the property I have 3 and that is where it grows. By the blue cars under the big maple. Nothing likes that spot by the road, I think to dry or no sun.? Will have to experiment.
Hey come on out I'll share, LOL
This is the arbor that the Clematis are on, I cut them down. So not much to see. My Hearty Fuchsia is still going strong. And you can see part of the garden in the back.
You know Willow I think I would like a smaller scale area, In a way. So much work, and no time to keep it nice. LOL

This is across from the arbor. In this area, I have Mmmm Esters butt LOL sorry.
I have Montbretia around the bird bath, Cushion Mum, cone flower, sweet willy, behind the table are Purple Haze (Saliva), Purple Rain (Saliva) , and Purple Prince (I forgot) starts with a P. And the dead branch is the Buddia I lost last spring, do to the weired weather.
This is the back side of Purple Haze. After going down the steps. and looking back. There is allot planted here. This was not the true beginning for this area, has changed in the last few years. Was a stair step. in meaning that the whole thing was a waterfall look in wood boxes, they all had rotted and I redesigned it with rocks and a natural curve to fit the landscape. In this bed are, The Fuschia (can't miss that)
A purple Lupine, A white and purple Liatris. many tulip bulbs and other bulbs I can't remember. A Nepeta (Catmint). Some Pinks, a blue columbine and some Irises, also a red bee balm and some Nicotiana. Can't see most of them now.
Oh so much to see...I loved walking up the steps with you into the garden area by the doggie pool and then over to the fabulous arbor with the seat. It is all very inviting. The fuchsia is amazing. I'd like to know more about how you grow those, what they need to be happy. I can just imagine how beautiful this area is when things are in leaf and bloom.
The greenhouse is great too, along with the story about all the rescued construction materials and accoutrements. The shelves are just perfect. Think what you'll grow when you have the expansion built. You are a woman with VISION! I have to try that trick with the tomatoes next year. I always have so many green ones left on the vine when the rains begin.
Mary, I am in absolute awe off all that you have done - and do so agree that you are a woman of vision! I am impressed that you can "see" marvelous use in items that most of us would bypass (and we'd be wishing we had "something" that worked!!!).
Nice, nice job!
You two make me blush, LOL
Yes I have visions, and ideas and how do you say it " I Want IT Now" not going to happen. Till I retire and have more time, and hope to have the energy to do it. LOL Just bits and pieces for now.
This is stepping into to the back yard, from Purple Haze. I already showed the gazebo, which this is past it, into the garden behind the barn.
A new tour of the back.
To be continued
Oh Mary,
I have really enjoyed your tour so far. You are certainly a hard worker and what a creative eye. I am impressed with how you are pulling it all together. I'm looking forward to seeing the next group of pictures.
Lynn
tils, this is marvellous. I am going to have to go back and rethink my 'tour'. I have to say, I took 6 photos and thought that was enough. Ooops. Get in the spirit Laurie - walk and talk.
All I can say is "WOW!" I love the different rooms you've created throughout the landscape. I wish I had your vision and artistic eye for creation of beautiful spaces. You've great great plans for the future as well. I can only imagine the beauty in bloom. You make it easy to look past the time of year and look forward to blooms. I'll have to walk around my space and imagine it differently to see where that takes me.
I must of got the genes from Dad, he had a way to made things out of nothing and always loved to garden.
Sorry Laurie, only 6 LOL Walk the Talk. I know you place is bigger that that. Ha Ha.
The trip through the back will, be short as there is not much back there, YET!!!!
Any who, This is the garden, I want to change it and make the boxes taller and find some kind of heavy rubber to put in the walkways, to keep the weeds down.
The bricks have Strawberrys in them.
Sassy is setting in front of the compost stalls, Its a chore to keep the blackberrys under control. And that is the property line.
This is taken from where Sassy was sitting in last pic. The back of the barn. And a nightmare I started, My very first flower bed around a stump. Was going great, until I planted MINT, oops. Then I joined DG met all of you and started Woodland, and forgot about this one, or tried too. LOL Its still in my head, just no time to fix it yet. I know I'll get a work party together next year along with the paint party, If the weather and work cooperate.
Behind the stump up by the barn is my tire garden and my tub of spuds.
The tarp is for the leaky roof and a make shift wall, where the mowers are.
Tills you have great vision and potential. I think your areas are wonderful.
Hey, we all have junk somewhere, and I think we've all planted something we've regretted. Your's is mint mine was bishops weeds, 15 years and I'm still pulling it out, at least your mint is useful and smells good.
Now thats true, Maybe I should leave it and try to prune into something worth looking at. Mmmmmm. New idea. Thanks
This is how I get my ideas most of the time, from you all LOL
Now swinging to the left a little, you have my DHs special place, under the White Fir. Where he makes his biggest messies.
Just passed the Fir, the ground drops down to the creek.
Off to the left of the Fir is the Red Hemlock I mention before. And thats where the Serpent is, you can just see his head. For those who have not seen the tread on 'What Is It' I'll find it for you.
There is a little Cherry tree, planted in the middle of the lawn.
Tills you are the best and so is the presentation. The only thing I miss is a statue of David I don't see him. LOL Well done Tills. Nice garden.
He was to shy to come out, and take some pics or it was to cold. Ha Ha.
Now turning to the right, back passed the Fir. Is the new Dahlia bed. Still more work to be done. DH is still fighting that stump.
I forgot to say in the post with the Fir. is the back porch is going to be replaced with the one in the front, and a new deck will replace it. We don't use this one its in bad shape.
