That's cute - Ness' Mini Sota!! (and I do mean the bloom, too!)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Sunrise Waltz grew beautifully for me but I want to ask you about Music Box Dancer. Her blooms were great but she grew all over the place with absolutely no symmetry of any kind.

Ellerbe, NC(Zone 8a)

Yep! That's the way she grows alright. Definitely not a show plant. But look at them there blooms!!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

OK........I thought maybe I could have done something to have prevented her wild growth but prolific bloomer she is!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Isn't this strange looking or not? This is a baby strep Magnetosphere. I cannot imagine why her first blooms would look this way and I do not think she is mismarked because she is sitting with babies of mothers I already had.

Or..........Jim, she could have come from your first batch of leaves..........what do you say?

Wow! I'm away from the computer for 5 days and look at all the pretty blooms I've missed! Great growing everyone!

I was knocked flat by the flu about 4 a.m. Saturday and it's been a rough week. I'm still not 100% but slowly getting there. I should have gotten a flu shot!! I had planned to get one but would always get sidetracked .... big mistake! I rarely ever, ever get sick and this is the first time I've had the flu since the 80's.

I hope everyone is staying warm! We've had another cold front come through here and it's supposed to be about 37 tonight ... FROST warnings! My dear hubby has covered all of my plants out on the deck and some in the yard. My orchids are still inside from the cold night we had a couple of weeks ago.

I still need desperately to start taking better care of my Gessie's. I have a few Chirita's that are beginning to get long necks ... look like palm trees, LOL. I do have Chirita Kazu blooming as well as a little Chirita Tamiana, and a little Streptocarpella with a bloom too!

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving Everyone!

We wondered where you were and we missed you! So sorry you had the flu............better get my flu shot.......and everybody else, too.

I finally got Joe to put up all the poly on my porch as our cold weather is coming in Sunday night, Lin...........first time in the 30's this year.

(Zone 1)

It looks like it's going to be cold everywhere! I mentioned the poly to my DH today and I'm hoping he will go out this weekend and look into it. We would have to tape it up since our pool enclosure is aluminum but it sure would help, even if we only put it on the north end!

I'm so sorry you have the flu! Be careful and rest.

I have the flu shot every year. I had it twice, very bad cases, took 10 days at least, horrible. I hate the horrible aching and fevers and nausea. That was over 20 years ago. Never again do I want it. I have had the shot ever since, every Sept. or October.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Lin--glad you are feeling better, nevermind the plants for now...they will be fine. You rest and drink lots of fluids!
(ok,,,you can water a couple of plants, but don't overdo)

(Zone 1)

Thank you ladies! I am feeling sooo much better! Just sitting here drinking a cup of tea, watching t.v. and visiting the garden (DG). My energy level is still low but that's to be expected. I am on the mend though, I can tell a big difference this evening just from yesterday! Yep, all I have been doing is resting and drinking lots of water and juice. My husband is great, he has been taking good care of me. He went to the grocery store today and says he will help with cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the two of us. LOL, he has never cooked a turkey in his life - he did take it out of the freezer to the refrigerator to thaw and offered to chop onions and celery for the stuffing but I sat here and did that. He said he would start snapping the beans and shave and cut the carrots but I said that could wait until morning!

Well ... off to lurk around the garden and catch up on some threads!

{{{{{{{{ Lin }}}}}}} Sorry to hear you were sick... Rest so you get over it the first time... I am so excited that I have blooms coming up on my flowers and this time I don't have to pluck them off... yeahhhhhhhh
I hope everyone here has a great day tomorrow.... I know we will be very busy and very happy.....
Hugs to all,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Susan............when did you become TurtleChi? Cute name.........love it! It has to be you as there is no one else on Dave's from Danville, is there?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Gail - she asked Admin to change it over the weekend, or late last week, I think.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Yup it is I.... LOL I love turtles and I have 5 Chihuahua's so it fits.... I am suppose to be in bed now as I have a big day ahead tomorrow but I am going after this post...LOL I am so happy my plants look good and they are going to bloom again for me... I do have to take a brush to them and take the dirt and perlite off from me dunking them in the bug stuff... It has been strange for me to see all my plants and no blooms....
Well ladies and gents I will see you all tomorrow or on Friday.. Don't eat to much turkey and have a wonderful day..
Hugs,
Susan

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Peridot's Darth Vader..........the blooms have gotten so heavy the plant has toppled over and I have it propped up on a roll of paper towels.

Peridot Darth Vader--strep--sinningia---gloxinia? One thing it is, is beautiful!

Williston, ND

Its a sinningia

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks Jim! I found my answer in the very next thread I went to....which was Sinningias---doh! ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow....nice pics! I need to get more selective about the big sinningias that I grow. Wanting to grow from seed has its' limitations.

Haven't seen you around, WildRose...............glad to see you!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks Gail! I'm still here! Just more of a lurker now than a talker... LOL!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Well, I finally mixed my first batch of soil-less mix! I stuck a few leaves, so we'll see if they survive!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I've been thinking of starting another thread, but then I remember how close we are to the end of November! Just another day . . .

Did anyone know there was a DG Shop? I found it a bit ago, when I was heading for the Marketplace . . . the stuff listed seems a bit pricey, and I can't find specifics on shipping, since vendors used are scattered . . .

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Pink summit is blooming now. Very pretty pink with white edges!

Syru: A DG shop? Where? I know you can order DG stuff at Zazzles: http://www.zazzle.com/dave%27s+garden+tshirts

Is that what you are referring to?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

No! It's not zazzles! I posted something on the Daves Garden forum (http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/928554/), and Dave himself said this was here for a year! I have not heard ANYONE talk about it, and I have NOT seen it before . . . and I look thru DG alot!!! Here is the link for the shop . . . http://davesgarden.com/products/shop/#store_home%3FstoreID%3D1

It's under the Products & Services tab . . . about 3/4 of the way down the links on the right . . .
