2ND VICTORIAN SANTA WORKSHOP..still creating! #7

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought we were done (LOL) but we're all still creating and sharing so best start us a new thread

Cold this morning, perfect day to sit and create...how about you?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

We have some cool temps but the wind makes it feel much colder. Wind chill factor keeps me inside. Cleaning house today. Now I'm back to it. Got to start on two more Santas but I'll wait until after Thanksgiving. I need my dining table for the Big Meal! LOL

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the help with the hood. I'll experiment some. Betty, did you think we would quit? We will be making santas year round. I can just see some now - wearing Hawiian shirts and dressed Jimmy Buffet style!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

lol and sunglasses holding a drink with a tiny umbrella in it!lol

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Of course! It wouldn't be Jimmy Buffet style otherwise! the trick will be how to put sandals on him!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Yes Betty, I will paint them, won't be as pretty as yours......what color did you use for the cheeks please?

Stop!???!!?? Not us!!

I got this fabric that I am working with now......a Western Victorian Santa????

Sages Maternal Grandfather is a commercial fisherman, she wants me to make Grandpa Tom Fishing Santa.....getting lots of ideas!

Trisha is that a leather material? Fantastic! Will santa have on waders? A fishing santa Great!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone. I am here for a few minutes, and love all the Santa's and new ideas floating around. Jimmy buffet! LOL
I need to get my pain meds regulated, so they don't make me sick to my stomach, then I will be online more.
Take care
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

No it is fabric part of it is sort of plastic feeling and the light colored part is sort of velvety feeling but it sure looks like leather doesn't it!

Don't know about waders......I am just getting the gown, vest and hat worked out......You make the waders and I'll put them on him...lol!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh, Trisha, Walmart has those 2" suspender latches with just a bit of elastic attached. Wouldn't a plaid shirt with those sown on be darlin'!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

OOHH MYYY!!!!
Those are incredible!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thought you would like those ideas...
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

They are Beautiful..,.,.I think they are way beyond my current capabilities!!!! But there are some useful ideas there.......

Right now got to go clean up my car....we had a series of car prowls in the neighborhood last night....DH didn't lock the drivers door when he came home so there is stiff scattered all over....but they didn't take anything....weird....had a lot of CD's and some expensive sun glasses in there......guess they agree with my DH and don't like my choice of music...lol!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like the burglars were looking for items for quick street sells. I would think the sunglasses would have been a target. Humm

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Deborah it is really weird, my neighbors DH forgot to lock his truck and he has a lot of really expensive tools....they didn't take anything?????? We had at least five cars that I know of gone through and no one can find anything missing???

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I'm making slow progress. I have the clothes all on. Have the hair/beard pinned on, but not crazy about the way it looks, so I need to keep messing with it. The only sewing I have left is the hat, but have to get it all laid out. I am hoping that I have enough fabric left to make the hat the way I want.

That is really weird about the cars. Maybe it was some kids just messing things up, but not actually looking to steal.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Great links, LK. Thanks for posting them.

That is strange, Trishia. Maybe they were kids looking for something specific - like cigarettes?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

There's a beach bum santa in that 2nd link. He looks like Jimmy Buffet. LOL

It's a scary thought but the culprits could be looking for a weapon, like a gun. We had car burglars in our neighborhood several years ago. A gun was taken from my next door neighbor and one neighbor had a cell phone taken. Kobe and Bo kept them out of our yard I suppose. Nothing was missing from our truck.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

We don't know what the kids were looking for.........but if I catch them snooping around my car again...........

Well, one more Santa done....I posted him on the Viewing Thread.....not what I wanted to do with him but I need to get them finished soon and embellishments I wanted aren't available right now.....need to plan ahead and start collecting materials for next years Santa's as soon as I finish the ones I need right now! This one in particular needed to be finished because my niece is visiting this week and I want her to take it to my brother and SIL when she goes back to Alaska if she has room. Will save me some expensive shipping if she can take it with her .

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Trisha, that came out looking really good! Nice job.
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gorgeous Trisha, what material is it made of..almost looks like fur? didn't cut up one of your old coats did you? now there's an idea..better hit Value Village or re-use it clothing stores and look for fur/trim???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ladies, lets keep the chat on this thread please, as Betty made the other one, just for the viewing of our treasures!

LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The trim is just faux fur from JoAnn's (they had some really nice "furs" at WalMart last week too) . I am not sure what the faux leather is, a lady I was talking to was buying the same fabric....she was making tote bags.

I am going to start looking for fabric and materials at the thrift stores that I can re-purpose into into Santa's......

I answer to Debra's question on the viewing thread.....I just have a paper pattern cut to Betty's dimensions......for the vest I use the Shawl pattern, fold it to meet in the center like for the robe but do not stitch......cut the arm holes the same and gather just like the robe.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Ooops, sorry! I got excited about Trishia's santa and started yacking.

Thanks, Trishia. One of these days I'll find the time to sit down and experiment.

Glenview, IL

Oh My...I love that material Trisha!!
I really like the way the hat sits too, very cool.

OKI finally finished my snow scene.
Tadah...The little table is made of sugar cubes.
on the table represents "our work" We did lots of mailing together.
I made each tiny little env. each one stuffed with a note card that says season greetings.
then I made a tiny little sheet of labels. Blue ink says boy and red ink says girl.
In the back pack i have several 'gifts, each marked with boy or girl.
Snow people are made of kitchen wash clothes.

So here is the tiny scence

P.S. I chose blue because that is our company color...LOL, the backpack was made from one of our tote bags.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You sure are ambitious Judy....we'll be waiting to hear of her excitement..you've put so much work into it..am sure she'll know it's a gift made with lots of 'love'....your snow people are adorable as is your santa...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Judy, your snow people create such a fun scene with Santa. Betty is right, they are adorable.

Glenview, IL

Thank You ladies...They were a lot of fun to make.

Gave my Susan today and she loved them, shed cried too.
Gave eachother a giant hug.

As did many people around the office. They played with them, dressed them up and really brightened the atmosphere at the office.
LOL, Susan asked if my ears were ringing all day...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, I just love all the detail you put into your santas, and the whole scene. Where do you work?
LK

Glenview, IL

Thanks Linda Kay!
I work for the a school book company.
My group sends out the material reps need to sell.
Invitaions to workshops etc...

Susan started out with me and has gone on to the other side as a Clerical support.
She and I both are most likely going to loose our jobs, we think next week..(by rumor)
Anyway she just turned 60 last friday. Over the years she has been just a wonderful support
to a lot of people. The very first Year Susan worked with me, she gave up her Mother's day gift
for me!! I was having a surgery and didn't own a robe. Her children asked her what she wanted and
she said a robe for Judy, was the nicest most caring thing for someone who had just met me.
I never forgot it and always wanted to do something special for all her kindness.

So all the detail in this winter scene was especially for her. It depicts what we do...(Mailings)
In my letter I wrote we were the Dream Team...and we were!

Anyway Thank you for listening to my story and Liking my Santa too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Earthly angels as I like to call them...you are one sweet Judy..and since I've met you in the real person, I haven't changed my mind..you are a very caring person...

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Here you gals are, somehow I lost the thread. Everyones Santas are so fantastic and magical I love them all. I'm going to have to take a pic of mine now that it is almost finished. Will have to do it tomorrow, everyone is in bed or going to bed now and I don't want to rummage through the rooms looking for the camera.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy that is a wonderful story, and a true friend indeed.

Robyn, looking forward to seeing your santa creation.

Betty, how are you doing? Your earache all better?

Sleep tight everyone.
Linda Kay

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)
