Daily Pictures Vol. 155

I jus took these pics of a Red-shouldered Hawk that landed in the little woods across the road. I saw it land so went and grabbed the camera. First one is through the storm door.

Of course i had to see if I could do better so out I go..in my jammies still. Dark, cold and yucky here so no hurry to to get dressed today!

and this one...

then the guy who lives off to the other side came out and made a bunch of noise...aarrrgh! So it flew down a bit though it perched lower.

Loads of Robins have come in again. I think they wish they had started south a bit sooner..

It is official; cold weather has arrived. I saw the first Junco of the season today. The chipping sparrows showed up today also. On Sunday When I came home from work there were yellow-rumped warblers and white-throated sparrows in the yard(too bad it was already too dark to get decent pics). All only seen here in cold weather.
But here is the white-throated sparrow I did get.

Love the geese's synchronized dipping! Love the woodpecker pics because they don't like my yard for some reason. They always stay way up in the oak trees! :(
Thanks Margaret for giving us all a look at birds that most of us will never see. :))

Frank, great collection. I love how the Chipping Sparrow is chirping! We're supposed to have real cold tomorrow as in it won't warm up too much during the day. I don't care for temps below 70 degrees, so I won't be seeing any new winter arrivals as I'll be bundled up inside. Thank goodness I can enjoy yours!

We had snow flurries today. Nice pics everyone!

The pix is not as clear as I wished, but here is a blue heron getting ready to have breakfast this early morning.

Nanny, I love all the pictures, but chuckled at your Geese and the Mallards, lol. Don't they leave for the Southern region by now?

Here is when it caught what I guess is a brim (?sp.).

Some go south but a lot of them stay year round anymore.

Had another big group of Cedar Waxwings yesterday eating the wild berries still.

Still lots of berries to be had here...

I love this shot though it is not really what one would call a "good shot"

Nanny, I love that shot with the berry in the mouth! That's just amazing. Those berries are as gorgeous as the bird. I'm editing b/c you posted 2 more shots and they are great too!

Nanny, good series!

This Hawk (???) was sitting in the road and wouldn't fly so I moved it off the road so it wouldn't get ran over. It didn't have any obvious injuries. Don't know why it wouldn't fly. Hope it makes it.

Nanny seen some Waxwings Yesterday, but couldn't get a pic . They were across behind my neighbors house. Couldn't tell if they were Bohemian or Cedar. Love yours and the bottoms up.
Duc that is a nice pic of the Phoebe, he looks so handsome.

I hope your hawks stays safe...adel. Could it possibly had some type of internal injury? How the heck did you move it?

nanny_56..............very carefully since I didn't have any gloves with me. It kind of reminded me of a bird that has ran into a window. It appeared to be stunned so it wasn't that hard to handle.

LOL...I don't know if I could have done that!! But good for you!

I had hoped to be able to wake up and get outside to take some bird photos.

Pelle, the birds might not be there, but that looks so pretty (pretty darn cold, too).

Mrs Ed, that's a great shot of the Creeper. First time I've seen one.

I went to the swamp this afternoon and the Nankeen Night Heron was kinda dozing, kinda keeping a wary eye on me. I was able to get within about 20' of him, but he was sitting in the sedges, so couldn't get an unobstructed view.

Hey Margaret, indeed it was keeping a wary eye on you but it was kind enough to let you get a photo. LOL Lee
