Good morning Dave & admin,
Since the daylight savings time ended, the time stamp on posts is off by an hour...not high priority by any means, but I thought I'd mention it because it's thrown me off a few times to see posts with a later time and I have a momentary panic thinking my clock is wrong and I'm late for something :o)
Thanks!
Time stamp on posts
I think you need to go into your preferences and make sure your time zone is set correctly--I'm not sure how it got messed up but I think that's why things are looking off for you. I just went and checked a post I made a minute ago on another thread and the time is showing correctly, so it's not a DG-wide problem, and when I click on your member page it tells me that you are 4 hours ahead of me and you should only be 3 hrs ahead.
Thanks ecrane. I checked and my timezone was listed as Eastern Daylight time. Do I need to keep changing it back and forth between Eastern Daylight and Eastern Standard every time daylight savings switches? I think it used to keep up automatically...
Mine changed all by itself this time around so I'm not sure why yours didn't, probably just some weird random bug.
If you run Windows, double click on the date in the bottom right corner it will bring up Date and Time Properties box. There is a tab for Time Zone and on the bottom of that box is a checkmark if you want to 'automatically adjust for DST'. Yours may not be checked.
It's not the Windows time, it's the time in the DG preferences that was acting up here. I don't think DG ever looks at your Windows clock settings.
Yah - I don't think it's windows either. My computer displays the correct time - just not DG. It's not a big deal. I"m sure Dave has more pressing things to do. I just thought it was odd since the time has adjusted automatically in years past. The time is correct now that I've changed my time zone to Eastern Standard. I'll just go in next spring and change it back to Daylight :o)
Is it spring yet??
It usually changes on its own so I'd just wait and see what happens next time, since other people's times seem to be correct I think it was some weird random thing so chances are next time it'll be correct. And no, it's not spring yet...although our weather the last few days is making it seem otherwise! We've had temps near 80 which is very warm for this time of year.
I had to change mine to standard time too yet no one else I hang with zone (Mountain) had to. I just went to my preferences and changed it from 'Daylight' to 'Standard'. It happened to a few in Central time and Eastern time too. I thought it might be... should I say it out loud.... the Vistagoul but my PC that's on Windows didn't change either. It's easy to fix even for a non-techie like me so I don't think it's a big deal if a only a few of us are affected. I like to think I'm special ^_^
It only adjusts you between daylight and standard times if you have entered your zipcode. For some reason, you don't have a zipcode in your profile, so it skipped you.
Enter your zipcode through the Preferences/Your Location and from then on it will automatically update your time.
ahhh...thanks Dave! Although I kinda of liked Dahlia's theory that we're just special :o)
If I enter my zip code is it visible to the public?
sigh I guess then it doesn't work for us Canucks? No worries. I like being special ^_^
I don't think there is anywhere where your zipcode is visible. As soon as you enter your zipcode, though, reload the "Your Location" and then check your "My Info" page to make sure that it's not visible.
Alternatively, just change the clock manually twice a year. :)
LOL dave :) I'm good. It's about the only techie thing I know how to do on DG :) Just wait til I start blowing up PF (my winter how-to project to learn). Growin will change his name to Groanin for sure. That's ok. It's part of my plan. I want his truck.
testing :o)
hey... my DG time shows two minutes faster than my computer time!
