Bald Eagle - Our National Symbol - Vol. #2

Rock Island, IL

And a Juvie. These youngest have the toughest time getting through the winter. I love seeing them but always wonder to some degree how they are doing and if they are managing to get their share of food.

Good morning; Thank you for sharing. Your subject is incredible and so is your photography talent. A smile pops on my face when I see "new entry" for your thread. :)

Very good pics glo!

Nice shots, glo. Keep them coming. I've taken a break this weekend because of x-mas preparation as well as cold and cloudy conditions. Hopefully the juveniles have worked themselves far enough south to ward off a lot of problems. The water in your middle photo looks like it is moving rather swift and doesn't freeze over ....

The wind was blowing very hard and the water has just come through a lock and dam area in that photo.

Were you up at Fulton, Glo?

WE have not seen ours here since that first sighting. I wonder where they could be.

Rock Island, IL

No I haven't gone to Fulton yet. I will probably post a quick note here or email you through here before I go. We can enjoy Fulton together some time this year. OR you can come to the Cities and I will take you to the eagles :) sooner

okee dokee. I'm off limits for camera work for a while since I just had Carpal Tunnel surgery.

Ouch!

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your surgery, Mrs. Ed. Hope you are doing better .....

Here is a photo of three Bald Eagles performing their aerial acrobatic acts. With a 500mm lens it is difficult to get three in flight, in one photo, except at some distance. When the dam is planning to turn on the generators, they start a siren to forewarn the fisherman downstream. Either the siren annoys the eagles or they know that the water will soon start to churn because activity picks up significantly.

Cool pics Linth!

Hope you feel better soon Marna!

Thanks everyone. Actually, it's all pretty good right now except MR. Ed is like the gestapo! He has forbid me to go near the camera. But the stinker gave me a brand new, gorgeous monopod and won't let me play with it until after I get the bandage off. WHAT a tease!

So, being "grounded" I'm sure a big Eagle will come land in my yard!

Nice Glo!

I guess we had SIX here today. That's many for this area. I didn't get there to see them, but hope to tomorrow.

Nice catch glo!

Nice shots, glo and thank you for sharing your photo experiences.

Resin, I'm sure you are right about the dinner gong. It looked like all of the photographers were getting ready for "dinner", also. I heard a lot of cheers !!! I just thought their ears may also be sensitive to the sirens.

This thread is getting a little long so I have started Vol. #3 at the following link ........ Thank you all for your participation in making this a successful series. Hopefully on the new thread, we can get a few more individuals contributing Bald Eagle photos. I'm sort of winding down as I begin to pursue our winter waterfowl, especially after the holidays.
