Love that rabbit!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Great pictures, GoldLeaf. I would have to say my favorite is the Epicia Strawberry Patch, my other favorite is Lil Ballerina, Mickey Mouse, Ness Cranberry Swirl, Plumberry Glow. Oh what the &#%%, I'll take one of each. ^_^.
I wish I still lived in California. Haven't been there since 1945, and I'm sure it's changed quite a bit since then.
I just didn't like the quakes and shakes. ^_^.
Thanks again for sharring the beautiful pictures.

GoldLeaf, it was fantastic to get to meet you Sat. Now I've got a beautiful face to go along with the name. Thank you sooooo much for bringing those leaves/cuttings to trade. I wish I had more to share with you. You were too too generous. Thank you. I'm building my collection back up little by little and will be looking to repay your generousity as soon as I can.

Wasn't the Lyon's sale da bomb!!! I kept going back and going back. I have to count, but I think I ended up with about 10 Chimeras.

I was really disappointed there weren't more Streps for sale. And nothing unusual!!! All just the same stuff they have in their catalogue. The only one I bought was Bristol's Psychedelic Sun. And it is really just a baby with one 3 inch leaf. What streps they did have certainly went fast. National is really the show/sale to go to buy streps I guess.

Great pictures!!!! You took a lot more than I did. I'm afraid I was in a hurry to leave; had a 6 hr. drive ahead of me.

Thanks for posting all these great pix.

GoldLeaf, thank you so much for sharing those gorgeous photo's! Oh how wonderful it would be to have one room in the house full of Gessie's! I think I just have way too many of all kinds of plants to concentrate on growing gessie's well.

My favorites from your pic's:

Lucien Croteau
Ness' Crinkle Blue
Senk's Azalea Trail
Rob's Galiwinku

Oh, they are just all so pretty! Great photo's!

Phoebes: I just Love Jan's Bad Bunny! I bet that would win Best In Show too!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

I could have taken my arm and just swooped them all into some kind of loader ^_^

I was and still am in a delirious gesneriad geek world zone.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

av_ocd_girl..it was wonderful meeting you, too. Everybody she is one pretty lady with beautiful auburn hair...great sylish haircut!

Paul Sorano told me their streps flew out on Friday. I didn't get any as there were very few available. Rob didn't have any either on Saturday.

I know what you mean about the chimeras. I could have bought and bought but it had to stop somewhere. Lucky you for ten!

Ellerbe, NC(Zone 8a)

I have to admit.........Chimeras are a weakness of mine. LOL And since there weren't any Streps......I had to buy SOMETHING!!!!! LOL We were lucky and got there Friday morning, and I got several new mini-sinningias; my newest heartthrob.

I'm not sure I like my hair......just got it done on Tue. I told the girl to do what she thought would look good on me. I like the new color, but not crazy about the cut. But Thanks!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

I like that..."had to" LOL! I'm fond of chimeras too but have a weakness for so many things. How many light stands do you have?

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Wonderful pictures goldleaf! I loved the show! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures with us!

Ellerbe, NC(Zone 8a)

Goldleaf,

I've started over recently and currently have 2 plant stands running......not totally full. At one time I had 8 plant stands jammed full. It got to be such a time consuming job it just wasn't fun any more. I'm determined not to make that mistake again. I'm at my limit for AVs I think. I got a lot of AV leaves at the convention and will be swimming in them soon. LOL I hope to have lots of babies to share in the spring.
Rox

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

I hear ya Rox...but don't believe you ^_^. These plants have a way of sneaking in and taking over time and space. I have the very same intentions. I know what you mean about it becoming a burden and it can. I totally know that from experience and want to keep aware of it. I ordered a lot of av leaves and have many prop boxes full. You know what happens when all those leaves start making babies. Thanks to Gessiegail and Bigoldbuck, I have so many strep leaves down also. I'll enjoy watching them grow all winter. Do you grow episcias?

Ellerbe, NC(Zone 8a)

Thanks to Gail I have a couple prop boxes full of streps also. They are starting to peep out and I'll be playing in the streps all winter. whoooohooo!

I only have a couple episcias. Cleopatra and Strawberry something I recently received in a trade. I used to have quite a few. I've been wanting to try Smithianthas, and since seeing that beauty at the show I'll be looking for some. I always enjoy trying something new......like Pearcea hypocyrtiflora. Thanks again! What kind of conditions does this gessie like?

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

That Pearcea loves high humidity every bit as much as episcias and more. If I see any Smithianatha available anywhere, I'll let you know particularly the one you liked at the show. Thanks again for the leaves you brought.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL! I'm back to reality now...kind of.

mrsbonnie..Kaleidescope has almost black leaves. I'll try to propagate more...hint.

Lin...you are so cute in your bingo hat! Such a pretty and happy looking person.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

I can back to look at all the beautiful pictures. What a great way to start the morning! ^_^..Your Rob's plants are too cute goldleaf!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Made some coffee and came back to look also. Thank you for taking the time to share!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

It surely was and is my pleasure. I love those little Rob's variegated violets. As promised, one has your name on it, Jan. As I stop and think about it, Rob has done so much for the violet world, it's amazing. Lyndon Lyons also for generations. Speaking for myself, I'd be lucky to hybridize a couple nice ones in my lifetime. All hybridizers deserve so much credit and to realize it all started with species violets.

I feel the same way! I see Rob's every year at the Ct. flower show-that was my introduction to his hybrids. I want to try my hand at hybridising also, but just don't have the space here. But I won't be living here forever. I've been online for a year now, and that has opened up a whole new world for me, especially with violets. I've had a couple of pitfalls, but overall, I love learning from and connecting with everyone. Great piece on Lyndon Lyon...Hadn't seen that before. Thanks!

Wytheville, VA

WOW! SUCH A NICE SHOW TOUR!
thank you!

(Zone 1)

Shows you what I know ... I had only heard of Lyndon Lyon's Greenhouse since joining DG. And, I have heard a couple of folks mention the name Sorano but didn't have a clue who he was. Never knew Mr. Lyon's was deceased.

Thanks for sharing that link to the N.Y. times article/obituary! Very informative!
