I hope this is the right topic to chat about the weather on.
OMG, it is snowing and blowing and visibility is just terrible. It's days like this that I'm thankful we're retired. I would hate trying to get out in all this. I'm staying in my fleece robe all day and going to hunker down with hubby and mom and play on the computer and watch television. I'm not sure but I think we are supposed to get the worst of the storm since we're right off the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. Hubby won't even try to plow with the tractor till late this afternoon when it stops.
It's a chicken soup day here. I hope everyone can enjoy watching the storm (it is awesome) without having to get out in it.

I have been up since 6am when i saw the boys didnt have school today! i wrapped their presents because
they now are on Christmas vacation!! Its a blizzard out-cant see more than about 600ft! we have close to 7in right now and its coming down like crazy! my dil just left for work and i hope she will make it home later tonight

I heard that saginaw/owosso area are in the heaviest snow fall areas this time-we are on the edge of it here in south west rural bay city!!!

Police came over the tv and told everyone to stay off the roads unless it is an emergency!! Yikes. DH just went out and plowed- we have drifts all over. Just wait until Sunday and the next wind/snow storm comes!!! I need a new flower catalog to look through...
we have 2 autos in the ditch down the road!!!!!a extra long van and a pickup truck!!!
i watched the van turn around and try to come back up the road and poof it was on its side
in the ditch in a few seconds!!! i know the driver of that one! :)
Gladwin is snowed in pretty good too.
Looked like 10-12", it was over my boots. Had to drive to work in that crap, but got out early. Yeah.
Most of the roads were plowed a little, but my road was not and you could see where I was dragging the bottom of my big 4 WD full sized pickup in the snow.
Near I figure, we had had at least 36" of snow this "fall" as winter doesn't even start until Sunday.
I think we can say that we will for sure have a White Christmas.

Hubby just came in from plowing the driveway. He said his estimate is we got about 11 inches of snow. He said he'd work on it more tomorrow after the snow plow does the roads again.
I hear the next storm coming in is going to be much worse than this one.

My husband closed the shop today, the roads were terrible, but there alot
better now thank the good Lord for 4 wheel drive!!!!! We drove into work this
morning and then we went to meijers and costco to get some food and stuff.
We came home and dug ourselves and our neighbors out...Then we came in and
and were starving from all the work we did and we went to tivoli's and had some
pizza...boy did that hit the spot. Whens this next storm coming???

I sure enjoyed my snow day from school! And now vacation is here so I can finally rest and get ready for Christmas.
Thought about going to Meijer last night on my way home but wasn't feeling the best plus I thought I was ok on supplies.
Today I realize that I'm low on TP and puppy food for Susie. Plenty of Kleenex in the house so I'm safe there! :-)
And I think there is enough dog food to get Susie through the night.
Neighbor came and blew out the driveway and walkway. Thank goodness he takes care of it for me!
Must admit, I enjoyed watching the snow come down today.....and I kinda miss seeing 'drift's like I did when I lived out on the farm.

Our road is one that is used by workers heading into town, so it is well traveled. We left about 5pm and they were just plowing it. Got over to my son's and their little subdivision had not been plowed...what a mess! I fishtailed all over and made it to their drive (which was plowed!) Leaving, I gave it the gas and just plowed through...dragging everything underneath....DH said it sounded like I was ruining my exhaust system...yikes!!
Next system coming on Sun...hang on sloopie!!
I'm glad every one made it through thos one what a ride home from work yesterday!!!! my car is so small if I go in the ditch you won't find me till spring!!!!
Traveler got "fixed" on Thursday and they said to keep him calm for 7 days ya right he loves the snow and want's to go out every 5 min. to play at least he plowed a path to the potty place with his nose ;0)
hope they get the rest of thr roads plowed befor the next storm comes through the snow on my road comes to my door on my car

All I saw at work yesterday were big trucks. I have one too, and was happy to have it yesterday!
Snow went over the top of my new sorels I bought. This snow is crazy. I like winter, but I am getting my fill of it fast!!!
I am sure it is really hard keeping your puppy down in this snow. My dog is old and still loves to play in the snow, he suffers after, but lays by the woodstove to heat his bones. I am glad he can still play and enjoy.
Well, everyone, enjoy your first day of winter on Sunday, and the longest night of the year. The sun will be slowly coming back now.

Gloria, my 60 lb. puppy thinks she's a lap dog too! I don't mind although she takes up so much of the space, it's hard to drink my coffee, let alone read a book, or surf Daves. lol
I hope to get out today and get some essentials (puppy food, toilet paper!) and I hope to finally get a Christmas tree! Will need help but I'm hoping some friends from church will be able to help out getting the tree in the stand and all.

Well is everyone safe a fter the storm that went thru??? Wow it sure did blow and snow for along time.... Did everyone get the rain also! It rained here in Plainwell for about 45 mins or so. So it had a nice "crust" in the middle of the snow. takes along time to scape the car windows off. My car has to warm up longer then it takes me to drive to work LOL. I live 1 mile from work Love it! M-89 is usually really clear. Sowe can get to the store and stuff. Hats off to the snow plow drivers. Ronna

I got out and about today. Bought toys to give to charities, food and doggie toys for Susie, took a wreath to Wood's grave, and bought a tree! Had a teenage girl from church with me the whole day. She also helped decorate the tree. I'm pooped!
Hoping the weather is ok for church tomorrow. Brrrrr.....is it getting colder out?!
well Traveler is in my lap and we just came in its snowing again about 2 in on the ground get the shovels out!!! got to go to work !! ;0(

Hubby said there is about 3" of new snow, I don't want to look.
Here is a picture from yesterday afternoon's walk in the woods. Hard to walk in that deep snow, had to clear off a spot on the bench to sit a spell. (thank goodness we lost about 12" of snow last weekend!) Does it look deep?
Oh the winds and snow are really a blowing..winds up to 40 mph. They are telling everyone to stay at home...roads plugged. I'm heeding their warnings...gonna make a big cherry pie and eat the whole darn thing!
My hat's off to you for treding through the snow. We had to go take down pop up deer blind on Tuesday. So much snow that it was collapsed. Took the doggies with us. I sent the German shepherd in the lead to help blaze a trail. Made the walking through the snow so much easier. I had to make two trips over to the nighbors 90 acres to get chairs and stuff it about pooped me out.
I think I will just sit inside today and watch the snow blow around and deal with the shoveling tomorrow.

just got home from work about an hour ago wheeee was that fun driving home the wind is realy blowing I think I need a bigger car or at least a heaver one had to hang on tight in some of those gusts Took Traveler out side he loved it I froze I don't know how the vet thinks I'm going to keep him calm for 7 days !!!! you would never know he just got his little we we cut ;0) STAY IN STAY WARM Oh I just talked to my daughter in Montana they got 20 inches of this stuff on Friday and it was 30 below she said she has never been that cold in her life !!!!!

Wow gloria 30 below?? Geez, way to cold for man or beast! We really are getting hit hard with the snow also. How can they even measure how much snow we've recieved? The wind is howling and blowing the whole day! I am glad we have all of our christmas over with. My son leaves for Iraq on Tuesday :( We'll see if the planes are able to take off. We have to be at the airport at 6 a.m. Long day for the poor guy. Then to Detroit, then to Georia, then to Ireland, then to Kuwait, then on a helcopter then a bus, then Iraq.... It has been a pleasure to have him here. The two weeks sure did go fast! My daughters even got to see some of him. Lots of family gatherings and laughter. Have a great and safe week, Ronna

Thank you Gloria. If the weather holds he will be leaving bright and early in the morning from the Kalamazoo airport. He is very happy and content with his military life that really makes me feel so much better. Ronna

I have all my shopping done except one gift for my nieces child. First I need to figure out how old he is!! We see him ...maybe..once a year. Last year I gave him money, but I'm sure he would like something big to unwrap.....on second thought, I could wrap up some bills in a big box.

I'm all done shopping. I spent half the day in the basement yesterday wrapping everything. 99% of it goes to the little granddaughter. I didn't realize how much I had been accumulating for months till I started wrapping it all up. I do almost all my shopping online. Much easier. My son was trying to find a Real Fur Cat for her that she wanted and eveyrone was sold out of it. I looked online at Walmart and they were sold out. Went to Ebay and got one and it arrived here yesterday. I opened it to wrap it in Christmas paper and it looked at me, batted it's eyelashes then went "meow". So cute! She is going to love it. I don't have the patience for walking around malls and naviagating crowded parking lots to shop. It is just so much easier to look online and click it and in a few days answer the door. I even mail order my dog food. :) I do like to walk around Walmart when I go grocery shopping but that's about it.
We broke down and hired a company to plow the driveway. Our tractor hydraulics needs fluid or something and hubby didn't want to fool with it. The man got it all done in 35 minutes and did a great job for only $25. We will pick up some fluid today but we're inclined to stay on his list and just let him continue to plow it this winter. Our roads are pretty good. We're in the township and the snow plow guy plowed our whole road four times that I counted yesterday. I can't complain about the services here at all. Today is garbage day. We have the nicest garbage man. He's so good to take away everything.
I hear more lovely snow is on the way. It will be a nice white Christmas this year. Glad we won't be traveling and out in it.

Gosh, while I was gone I DVR'd Rebecca's Garden on HGTV. Watching it now and they are showing the most beautiful spring tulips! Gonna be a LONG time til we see anything like that next spring. :-( They also showed tree houses from the Minnesota Landscape Arborateum. Way cool houses! I'm going to visit there next week when I go to my brother's for New Years. Course, I won't be seeing the tree houses now. They have as much or more snow than we do.

NotMartha it sounds like you have some huge drifts. I used to love to make forts in them. If I had them that high I would go out with the grandkids and play fort with them.

Alright Im wondering who has the most snow??? Today I was going to measure bit it is warmer. The snow has shrunk, so its "packy" Really heavy. But I truly do not know where we will put any more snow that is predicted for the rest of the week. We are full! Thanks for all the warm wishes for my son. He did get off the ground after lots of deicing. Both in Kazoo and Detroit. He called me when they arrived in Georgia. The first thing he wanted to do in that airport is eat some Chinese food. They have an awsome resturant there. So he called after he ate!!! grins to him. So now we do not know where he is! But I am sure it is warmer than here ;)
