classified ad ?'s

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Is there someway maybe the classified could stay at the top of the page so people are more likely to see it
seems its always way down on the list of forums.

how do i edit ad once its posted
I saw bert has maked some stuff sold out-how can i do that?

thank you
dori

That's a good point, and it probably keeps me from clicking on it more often. Since the forum just has single posts and not threads, it doesn't get bumped up.

I think it might be another reason to consider giving people the option to alphabetize their favorite/watched forums, which I've asked about before.

I too would like to see the classified form more easily accessed.

I am editing the ads as I am notified. At this time, Admin has the access to do that, but not the ad placer. This keeps things like price changes from being made mid-stream.

That's a good point! I wonder if it would help with that to make the classified postings appear as threads, with no editing allowed... the info in the top post would "stand" but additional posts could be made to clarify sizes, availability, etc. I suppose that might cause the same problem though, if a vendor went 20 posts down in their thread to add that there would now be an additional $20 handling charge on each order or some such... Hmm.

Price changes and additions are a couple of reasons for not allowing subsequent posts or edits at this time. If an ad is successful in the first 5 days, they could potentially add a whole new list of products and have another 9 days to sell them too. At $5 for the ad, it is cheap enough to simply launch another one, but some vendors would use it as a 'two for one' and try to cut the potential ad cost in half anyway.

critter, I like the idea of alphabatizing favorite threads to...or having the option. I have A LOT of favorites that I never visit 'cause I never make it down far enough... alphabatized would make it easy to find the one I wanted and not get distracted by latest activity...

Notmartha: I think I remember at one time "Classified Ads" was at the top of my home page where Marketplace is now listed?

I am an Alphabetical Crazy Person! I alphabetize everything. Makes things so much easier to find. I too would LOVE if our "watched" threads could be in ABC order!

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

Yes, plantladylin. I liked it there best of all, and checked it daily.

(Zone 1)

I liked it too but I guess there's not enough space up there for Classified and Marketplace along with everything else that stays there.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

marketplace could have a drop down menu, but there's lots of room on my homepage in that line under the banner...

I like those ideas, too, critter and 4 paws.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

When it was at the top I used to check it daily, but out of sight out of mind. I only remember to look now when someone mentions an item for sale.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I have it on my list of watched forums, that way if there's a new ad posted it'll get bumped up on my list and I'll notice that it's got a new post.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

You can watch an entire forum, ecrane? Or do you mean in the favorite forums section? I have it as one of my hundred or so favorites, too...it's usually too far down on the page for me to even see it, and I don't regularly end up scrolling all the way to the bottom.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I've got the same problem finding anything on my favorite forums / watched forums list. New ads do give a bump, but other forums get more frequent postings, so the new Classifieds ad slides down the list pretty quickly again.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I meant the favorite forums...I have about a hundred favorites too, but since they're always sorted starting with the one that has the most recent post and I'm on here typically a couple times a day, I don't think I've ever missed when the classifieds got a new post. I guess if you're on here less frequently then you could still miss it if it slips down the page but for me that hasn't been an issue.

Did ya'll know you can add Classifieds to your Custom Box on your Home Page?

That way it'll give you a direct one-click link to them and it'll always be there, never floating up and down the forums lists.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

Nope, don't even know about the custom box...so will have to look. Thanks, Horseshoe. :-)

Holler back if you need help figuring it out, 4paws.

And Happy Thanksgiving to ya! All of ya'll!

Enjoy the day...
