What weird weather we're having #5

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Can you believe it! I found the video. For anyone who is missing their snow..... here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sUL0KCIc48

I have put both the bird and dog video on my 'favorite' list for youtube.

Eugene, OR

My sis, who raises three parrots and so is involved in the parrot community, sent me that link. I've seen the bird before dancing to rock music....it's hilarious.

ROTFL....that dog is incredible! Thanks.

Eugene, OR

rc....I'm surprised the teramyacin didn't work. Maybe she's got something under her eyelid. Poor baby, has to be uncomfortable whatever it is.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Ohhh myyyy.... three parrots! wow. As far as birds go, parrots are a handful since they have so much personality. But, I bet that she has trained them to do some interesting things!

Precious says thanks! she looks uncomfortable. I hope that they figure it out quickly.

Eugene, OR

Yes, the parrots are a challenge. Sis says it's like have 3 3yr olds., except they never grow up. She cooks their food, bathes them (they have their own perch in the shower) and gives them the attention they need. She has taught them to do the things they need them to do and gives them all the toys they need to keep them stimulated. The funniest thing I remember is when they got evacuated from the fires, Julie (a macaw...biiiig bird) decided it was my BIL's fault that she got rousted out of her happy home in the middle of the night and got even with him the first chance she got. Luckily he wasn't hurt too badly, it took lots of time and patience before she forgave him.

I am dieing laughing right now, I click into the link on the bird, both of my dogs came running in, Tyler climbed to to my lap and stuck his nose into my monitor, now it have snot running down it, from his nose. Was to funny could not get to the camera. But need to cut his nails, got scratched. I have 2 cockatiels and the male loves sertain songs and will do a dance.
Loved the dog, but no responce from the dogs.
Love it.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Omigosh - both videos are fabulous!!!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Sally, that's too funny (and sad for the scenario it occurred in) about the bird blaming you BIL for the uprooting and comotion! So, did he get the talons or the beak? either way, it hurts! I can't believe that they shower in the actual shower. How funny. My cousin had several parrots and she had tought them many things, but some of the funniest scenarios i've every seen all came from this green parrot. I'm not sure what kind it was. It was smaller than the Macaw, but larger than the grey parrot (really common kind of grey parrot), it had really long green tail feathers. Anyhow, it would taunt and tease the cats and dogs.

Tilly, I'm LOL at invisioning all this dog slobber all over the monitor and you trying to protect the computer while watching the video.

Portland, I finally have some pictures of the Market of choice. Unfortunately they're not all that good though. I didn't think that I would have issues taking pictures in there, but I forgot just one small thing; that there a larger population of folks in Eugene that are (I know there's a word for this that I can't think of) rather paranoid of government, think that they're on watch lists (they probably are), anti- any establishment, and just paranoid in general. So, after getting a few glares after the first few pictures I hid the camera a little, but that made it hard to focus and get a decent pictures.

you can just barely see the fire place in the sitting area here, it's under the TV. you can also see the upstairs balcony.

I love both This snow one and the bird one too. they are very nicely made too.
Now I know what you do when the growing stops. You share other things in your lives,
that is nice. My favorite hobby is my Birds.

rc, yeah DH used to be a groomer on Bachelor and really wasn't all that thrilled about being able to ski for free since he got off at 7:00 in the morning and had to wait for the lifts to open and by the time they did he was too tired to ski anyway.
The videos were a riot, especially the dog. It's cold enough to snow here today but it's just foggy. YUCK!
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!^_^

What beautiful dogs (and nice lighting job on them, Marcia - they're so beautiful it is only right they show up properly!!!).

Eugene, OR

rc...good job on the pictures, I didn't even think about the people. And yes the clientele in that store would definitely take issue....glad you made it out of there with your camera!

gardener...those dogs are just too precious.

Marcia...nice birds and good job on lightening up the pic.

40 degrees here again, but for some reason it feels colder today, I must be having a cold day. Had to put a long sleeved shirt on in the house. DH needs the house on the warm side, so I almost never have to do that. They say it's going to rain tomorrow, then they say maaaaybe showers, then definitely rain. Can't make up their minds. Anyway, have a Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.

My male Canary

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Marcia, your birds look sweet. How many do you have? Is that an ID bracelet of some sort around that canary's foot? I agree, good job on the pic!

Sally, that issue with the shoppers there completely evaded me too! But, only until I had taken the 2nd or 3rd pictures! lol By then I was getting the hint really stongly.

Gardner, I'm glad your DH and I think alike on this topic! So many folks think that's it's just a great thing to turn down. I just shrug my shoulders and say something like 'guess i'm the odd one here that has to pay for gas.' That usually gets them to reverse the conversation some. :-p That picture of Moose and Brute is so cute.

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Not at all Marcia, how'd you do that? Love your Canary.
Thank you Murmur.
rc, yeah he's the type that doesn't get real excited about things like that. Thank you for the compliment on the boys.

Trisha, pretty Old Lady!
Here's my other two boys this morning. They're Barbados sheep, Bilbo (left) and Frodo, they're 5 now. They're wethers (neutered rams). The cows are in the field farther back with fog coming in, the sun is shining now but it's COLD!
Have a great day!

Wish I had a picture of My Bilbo.....he was 3/4 border Collie 1/4 Husky.....about 140 pounds, our best friend had his brother Frodo!! We didn't own a camera back then.....they were really cool dogs. He loved kittens!!!

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

OMG!!! HOW COOL IS THAT! I thought I was the only one that named my animals from The Hobbit! I used to have a Soay sheep named Gandalf, but he died from Peritonitis and being neutered. The young man that did the banding didn't get both testicles and by the time I got him to the vet it was too late. The vet did the neutering but didn't realize that the infection had taken it's toll and Gandalf died right after surgery. Soay sheep are also from Scotland. Here's another pic of the boys last winter.

I love the LOTR trilogy and The Hobbit. All my boys read them and raved, so I didn't read them til they moved out. WOW! I love the movies too.
All the pet pics are heart-warming. They really are family.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Love all the dog pictures. Here are my two furfaces Amber (white) and Mindy (Silver). Also a cat named Shadow. And I have figurines of Gandalf, Bilbo, Frodo, Smog, and the lady fairy, can't remember her name.

Sweet babies!!!

Eugene, OR

More fur faces to add to the family!! We sure have some gorgeous animals.

Willow...love the poodles, I used to have a black (Susie) and a white (Taffy, her daughter) that I missed so bad when we lost them. Both lived to be 15, long time for poodles. Still get an ache when I see their pictures. Along with all the other fur faces I've had. Doesn't stop me from having more though. I can't imagine being without an animal for company.

Had a quiet dinner, Mom made it over and we talked to my boys. One of them had a birthday today. It was cold but not too bad, rained a little. Have to think about Christmas decorations tomorrow, supposed to be dry and my neighbor offered to help me put the lights up, he's leaving town in about 10 days. I need some new nails put up, keep getting more decorations^_^, so I could really use his help with that. I put the lights up with a pole because I try not to do tall ladders anymore.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Gardner, That's a great picture of the sheep in the fog this morning. I love it. It definitely felt as if it was cold as your picture looks!

Marcia, what a cute brood you have there. I have the same philosophy on the neuturing. We used to get quite a few strays, all in all, and every last one of them goes to the vet first.

Willow.... what sweet fur faces! :-p

Sally... glad to hear that the day went well for you, and quiet! I like that. It is also my mom's birthday as well. It completely escaped me until late last week that her birthday fell on thanksgiving this year.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Hey all, Happy belated Turkey Day. Story of my life always a day behind. Hope you had a nice one.
Love the fur babies.
This is Ester trying to sleep in Tyler's bed, something wrong here LOL

ROTFL....is there maybe a little jealousy going on here? My cats always have to sleep where their sister slept. Always good for a little hissy fight.

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

tilly, Ester reminds me of Gabby and Cheyenne when the were with us. She's very happy there! What a cute pic.
Susan

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I found out later after taking the pic that day, that her bed got some how roll up under the chair, so she took his. She is the boss. LOL Not sure where he was sleeping.
This is Tyler, short to the ground and full of power, he's like a bull when he hits you.

What a cutie pie!! I'm always amazed at how strong those little guys are. But look at him, built like a tank and full of determination.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

All too cute! Tilly, how many pets do you have?

The weather for today was: Absolutely fantastic!! A wonderful fall day here. Not really all that sunny, but there were some sun breaks. The temp was perfect for doing yard work. And yes, i did get my niece and nephew to rake leaves for me. I asked their dad what a fair wage was, he said 20cents/hr. they didn't jump at that. I said 'well, I was thinking more like 20c/ load of leaves'. By gosh they were out the door and fighting over the wheel barrows. all in all the total cost to me for their wages $8. and then I gave them a tip as well. We were all very happy with the scenario!

Eugene, OR

Sounds like a bargain to me!! Wish you could send them over here. Weather was good here also. Not as cold tonight. Didn't get my lights done, decided to go into town instead. Now that's out of the way. Except we didn't make it to the bead store, I need some stuff for a Christmas project.
