2009 wish list

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, after you see them bloom, there will be no more restraining.

Pirl and I always talk about how good all the Japanese irises look together. You can't go wrong with any combinations of them. So you just keep buying more, and more....And then you have to get early, and late ones, and doubles and singles, and tall and then short for the front of the border.....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Didnt know about early and late ones.
Wonder if there is a rebloomer like TBI's
Pirls JI's are beautiful.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Hosta:
Ice Follies, Shimmy Shake, Funky Monkey, Fleet Week, Extreme, Frosted Frolic, Grand Rapids, Linda Sue, Madam, Mata Hari, Pistache, Regal Supreme, Snow Mouse, Tropical Dancer, Temptation, Yellow Polka Dot Bakini, Frank Lloyd Right, Glad Raggs, Rhino Hide
Daylilies:
Blue Hippo, In Cahoots, more, LOTS more Munson's, anything polytepal, fingers crosses and I save enough moolah the 2007 collection from the Spacecoast peeps, a few of Karol Emmerichs intros!

Shrubs & Trees:
Aesculus parviflora, Amelanchier (not sure which one yet), Amorpha canescens, Aronia (not sure what one yet), Asimina triloba, Cercidyphyllum japanicum Pendulum, Clethra (not sure, but probably 16 Candles), Disanthus cercidifolium, Eleutherocroccus cersus, Fothergilla (not sure, but leaning toward the blue leaved one), and Rosa glauca.

About 10 ton of stone, maybe 15...another 10 yds of soil, and the supplies for a small pond.

I think that's it...

Unless I can wish for someone to help me with all of this also!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good to see you, Thom! Great list!

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Without hijacking the thread, I had a rough last 2 months...

Essentially switched jobs, that didn't pan out, went to go back to the original place, they had no openings, then tried working at a hospital, that was a train wreck, then went full time at a facility I was working per diem at; I am now working full time there. I was able to negotiate the per diem rate as my base pay, which was nice!

Enough about me, back to the flowers :-)

Good to have you back Thom. I wonder sometimes where people go. Where is Amy, BigcityAl, Jax, the lists goes on and on.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

This is a dangerous thread already. Waiting for the new catalogs to see any new goodies I might squeeze in here and there. I would like some of the new echies too. This year will be dividing and transplanting mostly to make room I think and seeing how many of last years beauties return. With the first coat of white on the ground the urge to shop gets stronger and seeing all these ideas and pics of pretty colors does not help, but so far I have not ordered anything yet. I do admit to browsing a lot though. :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pat i've got 3 new echies coming in the spring....

Coral Reef
Fragrant Angel
Tomato Soup

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Those all sound nice. I have not heard of 'Coral Reef' I don't think. Where are you getting them? I have the "get notified" message at GC for a few things, but have no idea where I would stick them in right now. Some how there is always room for that plant you just have to have.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It's disgusting how weak we are.
No new Catalogues from my regulars yet. Did get one from Faraway Flowers now That I have sworn an oath "no more bulbs" too hard to plant on these old legs.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good luck, Thom. Glad you had some negotiating power.

Seems gardeners are oblivious to the economy!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pat I ordered thru a co-op here at DG but here's coral reef and a few others. Don't hate me when you open this page.i'm in love with a few!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I really like 'Flame Thrower"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Many of the newer echi intros have been notorious under-performers. I like to wait and see how they do for people for at least two years. Many don't recover the following spring.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Pixie is bad bad bad. I'm gettin the itch
Why did I look.?
lol

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

You saved me Victor

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh wow, looks like a lot of new ones coming out in the next year or two. Maybe I will have to find a spot that should have some grass removed. Very pricey and I think that Victor is correct. A lot depends on the breeder I think. I do like those red and orange ones, particularly the double pom pom types. I knew this was a dangerous thread. Thanks for the info.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I bought 'Green Jewel' last spring so I can let you know if it survives. I did save one seed head from it just in case. ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

On the link above click on 'New for 2009'
Look at how dark "Heuchera Black Beauty" is, and the pink on "Heuchera Sashay" is very nice also.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice - especially Black Beauty.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Pixie
How were plants bought from this nursery?
I'll add them to my fav.list
The heucheras are fine and the sashay is good with anything.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I did not buy form this company..I only found it on the internet for possible future purcheses. Another words..I was looking at the pictures is all!! lol

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I'm looking for seed for 'firebird'. Has anyone seen seed for some of the new ones anywhere? Thanks.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Well I ghecked them out in Garden Watchdog and they are listed with 1 positive so it cant be all bad.
I did see that some of the new varieties of echi are not due to ship until fall. For get that I'll go to GC or Bluestone or Forestfarm.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Glad you got your job worked out Thom.

Celeste- I just had to look. ugh, resist resist!

South Hamilton, MA

I wish for an automatic weeding machine.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Good to see you again, Thom. Hope it works out for you.

My wish list includes about 3 pages of suggestions from all of you. LOL
I do have 2 echies coming - 'Fragrant Angel' and 'Tomato Soup'. I got mine ordered from the same co-op as pixie. I loved the color of the the tomato soup.

Oh, I'd also like a helper-in-the-garden.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'd take a helper in the garden too!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I have a helper already. I would like a zebra.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'd take a helper too. Shall I describe her??

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Go ahead
I'll lay odds you like the part where she bends over to weed?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Sure to admire her baggy overalls and duck boots I bet. No one else wants a zebra, huh?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Zoneing wont permit a Zebra here or I would add it to my list.

Go to Egg-zachly thread. Man my comp is flying now!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Do ya think Johnny Depp would come be my garden helper?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

His scissor hands can come in very handy!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Yes, as long as I'm not the one that has to sharpen them!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

And the other danger
He is older now and might have those hand tremors.
Stand back.lol

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Actually, I was thinking more on the lines of Tom Selleck. LOL

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'm with you Jan, even though he's old enough to be my father.
I LOVE David Boreanaz(from the show Bones)
