What happened to the the no call list???

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

That's what MY caller says! "Do not be alarmed"!

Crossville, TN

I have a 96' car....I have even dropped the collision insurnace on it....but they would still give me a new warranty....for a dear price!! The last time they called I told them I had made a note of their call and one more time and I would be taking them to small claims court....THE|Y hung up! LOL Jo

Yep,you want to be real careful with those warranty scams, there's always something in fine print that gets them off with out fixing ?

For example over 20 years ago when we bought our house,we purchased one of those warranties on all the appliances and air conditioner ,plus heater.
Well we moved in,and tried using the dishwasher, didn't pump all the water out, called them sent out a repair man,he said that pumped hadn't worked in a very long time, and they wouldn't cover it if it wasn't working at the time we bought the house, and it was over 10 yrs old, well they told us it was working, and we took there would,I guess we should have made them prove to us it worked before we signed the contract!!!
I ask him how do you know it wasn't working for a long time,he said because the rust was inside the pump, well not knowing a thing about dishwasher pumps,I said well it has water running thru it all the time and it would have signs of rust!!!!

Same thing happened with the washer machine seal went out, they fixed it lasted about 6 months, started leaking again, they wouldn't fix it the second time, but would fix anything else that was wrong with it!!!!
Ended up buying new everything!!!
Then they had the nerve to come out and ask me if I wanted to buy another couple years after this contract expired,I told the guy he could stick it where the sun no longer shines!!!!
I tell everybody now who asks me to buy the extended warranty, after the first year, and that's always at Sears or Penny's,I tell them Hmm,product must not be to good to begin with!!!

Sorry took so long, warranties,is a open can of worms for me!!!

Sorry you had such troubles there, Tropicman! That's terrible.

Our home warranty has paid for itself a few times over. We've had it 4 years and had the dishwasher, garage opener and fridge replaced. We've also had the water heater repaired.

Well I'm glad to hear that all is not lost in this world!!!
My sister has had good luck also,Microwave and hot water tank.
Well I find now,I just replace things when they breakdown, time you spend time and money to get things fixed you could have bought new, well almost !!!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I agree with you, Tropicman, easier to replace than fight a warranty company..

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yep,better than to stress over it!

I had to laugh to hear about "Do not be alarmed!" That's the one we get. Like I'm really going to be alarmed about a phone message from someone trying to sell me something. How about : "Do not be annoyed!" Ha.

Silence would be even better!

ARRRRGGG...While I was out today a call came in that today was the very LAST day to get a lower interest rate on my credit card....DARN! I wasn't here to press 1....therefore I couldn't talk to a "person" and tell them what I think......Jo

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Awww, don't worry Jo, there will be another one ;o)

Crossville, TN

NO NO NO...This was the LAST day.....LOL Jo

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hook line and sinker...I can call them for you and have them re extend the offer, no? LOL! I get those for our mortgage...uh, it's already as low as it can go...duh! I actually sat through a call about a cruise offer cause I had nothing better to do. It was a great deal and they even got my actual number to call back in case of a disconnect. He gave me the grand price (really was a screaming deal and woulda found a way to do it) then we got disconnected. After 20 minutes of listening to his pitch, he never called back...jerk! I had to think afterwards to ensure I didn't give any personal info during the call, other than my number NOPE. Grrrr...

I feel left out - no solicitation phone calls today, yesterday, or the day before - but I DID get a caller - complete w/ a pamphlet titled "Truth". It is a bit unnerving because opening a door to a stranger is not advised. What do you folks do about that? I was obviously home - vehicle here, radio playing full blast. Of course, I am not obligated to be polite. I guess maybe I just need to make a sign and stick it by the doorbell. Now to think about an appropriate message - like "If I don't already know you, that is good enough for me" - oh, heck, I don't know. I will work on it.

(Zone 7a)

You know, it's funny. Just because you hear the phone ringing does not oblige you to answer it. Same with the doorbell or knock. I'm home but I don't HAVE to answer. The ringing and knocking is a request that can be turned down.

Santa Fe, NM

Well put, Kwanjin. Something to think about.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Oh come on, you can't tell me the curiosity doesn't kill you when the phone or doorbell rings! It does me but then again, I am home with kids all day and little outside contact. LOL! I DO have a security screen door, not that desperate for adult conversation!!!

As for door to door salesmen, we moved into the first house in a brand new neighborhood and after the other houses started filling up it took us a week to get a no solicitation sign that I mounted above the doorbell! Works wonders!!! One of the best home investments we ever made!!! ;o)

(Zone 7a)

I believe that is why peepholes and caller ID were invented. ☺

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Answer the phone and say,may I have your name and number and I'll call you right back.how many do you think you will get??
