Edited to say it looks like the two are combined, you just have to click yet another link to get the info.

could we get a 1-5 star rating on the pf's first page of each plant we look up, a star rating below next to each seller, based on the last 6 or 12 mos or so?

rather than having to click each seller first for more detailed info?

ones with a low rating i don't even want to bother with.

If you're in Watchdog and you're searching, you can tell it to sort by rating, that way the highest rated ones will end up at the top. If you're talking about the Plant Scout links that you find on the Plant Files pages, only companies with decent ratings are allowed to list their things in Plant Scout--it's always good to check the comments anyway but you at least know they're pretty good.

Thanks for the explainations!

No, I was in PF's to look up plants I want to buy. Nice to know they have to score well to even be there.

I was dismayed to see so many folks are posting a negative and they've NEVER EVEN BOUGHT from the place!? I can kinda see it, basing it on navigation of the company's website or high prices for plants and/or shipping....but then again..... be nice if people wouldn't post something based on buying with the vendor.

You're really not supposed to leave ratings unless you've actually done business with the company--if you feel that some of these companies have a lot of comments that aren't based on actual experience with purchasing something from the vendor you could use the "contact us" link to let the admins know about it. If it's just one or two comments on a company that has tons of ratings then it's probably not worth doing anything about, but if it's a ton of comments or if it's a company that doesn't have many ratings to begin with then that's not really fair. Personally I think it's OK to leave a neutral rated comment about things like a hard to navigate website just so people are aware of it, but to me the positive/negative ratings should only be given if you've actually purchased something.

To clarify a couple things.

Here's where we removed a "rating" for vendors, and why:

The guidelines require that a review is based on personal experience with a vendor. That typically takes the form of an order, or at a minimum, an attempt to order.

If you recall the listings that had unfounded reviews, please use the "Contact Us" link to let us know who they are (links to those listings would be helpful, or at least the name of the company and the name of the member who submitted the review.) I can't promise we will remove them, but we will be happy to review them.

I had only looked up skypencil and looked at reviews for each of those. About one negative under each of the 9 vendors was for high pricing.
