Christine, those buds are sooo cute!
H. mindorensis in bloom, one of my favorite for sure.
November Hoyas
FYI...differences in the shades of color mean almost nothing...even different colors mean little. I have a mindorensis that is supposed to have white corollas and a deep pink corona...which has bloomed all pink in a middle tone, the two different colors and light pink and dark pink. The basic structures, however are what the hoyas have in common...or if a corona is supposed to be white and it blooms a deep pink...that would/might be a different clone.
Carole, thanks!
Wow! They amaze me with the visible amount of nectar that they produce each day....er night. Do they all secrete their nectar and fragrance at night?
My experience -which is limited- is the scent seems stronger in the evenings and more nectar is produced as the blooms get older.
It seems to depend upon the pollinators...if they are nocturnal then that particular hoya will 'show off' at night... If the pollinator is ambivolent...then the fragrance is day and night...but most seem to be strongest at night....
